Just moments after Islam Makhachev won the lightweight championship at UFC 280, Chimaev and Nurmagomedov threw punches at each other cage side.

At first glance, it looks as if Chimaev either pushes or jabs Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov tries to land a haymaker on Chimaev and the two had to be separated. Chimaev has an “anybody, anytime” type of attitude when it come to fighting, so it’s not too surprising that tempers flared when the two came face to face.

Khamzat Chimaev has been under fire from the Nurmagomedov camp recently, as Khabib Nurmagomedov had called him out for not having “true muslims” around him.

Khabib Nurmagomedov called out Chimaev after he missed weight at UFC 279.

“If you are a Muslim, you should have good people around you – Muslim who can say, ‘Hey, don’t do this,” Khabib Nurmagomedov said at a Human Appeal event recently. “I recently watched the weigh-in of Khamzat Chimaev. I followed what was happening with his weight and looked at his team. There are no Muslims around him and this is very bad. Because if you are a Muslim, you need good, strong people around you. [Who] will say, ‘Come back, do this.’” Khabib Nurmagomedov said.

This may have been what caused tempers to flare at UFC 280, as Chimaev didn’t take the comments too lightly. He threw a few shots back at ‘The Eagle’ over his comments.

White didn’t take the altercation between the two that serious, as he just chalked it up to “fighters being fighters”.

“You know, what do I even say about that? It happens, especially with him.” White said laughingly.

What do you make of Chimaev’s cage side scuffle with Nurmagomedov?

Bo Nickal has withdrawn from his previously scheduled debut at UFC 282.

Per a report from Nolan King of MMA Junkie, mixed martial arts prospect Bo Nickal will no longer make his promotional debut on December 12th for UFC 282 in Las Vegas. After two straight dominant victories on Dana White’s Contender Series, the former college wrestling national champion was set to make his official Octagon debut against Jamie Pickett. Per the report, Nickal withdrew from the contest due to an injury.

Fans will have to wait just a little bit longer before seeing Bo Nickal on the big stage. The three-time Big Ten champion is now slated to debut on March 4th. With no official announcements as of yet, that date is rumored to be UFC 285, main evented by the highly anticipated trilogy bout between welterweight champion Leon Edwards and former titleholder Kamaru Usman. Dana White recently suggested that the same card could also feature a high-profile welterweight bout between a returning Colby Covington and the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev. Jamie Pickett is expected to remain as Nickal’s opponent for the event.

Bo Nickal and Khamzat Chimaev Could Share the Same Card in March

Bo Nickal sent shockwaves through the MMA community with back-to-back first-round submission victories on Dana White‘s Contender Series over a six-week timeframe. He got their attention once again when he targeted Chechen-born Khamzat Chimaev in his post-fight interview. During an appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’ with Ariel Helwani after earning his UFC contract, Nickal doubled down on his callout of Chimaev.

“First off, this dude talks about he’s ready to go always, he’s a gangster, this and that – bro, you can’t even beat the scale,” Nickal said on ‘The MMA Hour.’ “What are you doing? This is just a dude that has no accountability, who doesn’t treat the sport professionally. That makes me way less nervous to fight him in the future, because we’re going to fight, and I know that he’s not committed like I am. He’s not willing to do the things that I’m willing to do. Yeah, he’s talented. Yeah, he has skills. But if that’s how you approach the sport, if that’s how you treat it, we’re on different levels.

“People will act like I’m talking crazy, because I say I’m ready to go. Chimaev, let’s get it. But the reality is this dude won three national titles in Sweden and then came into MMA and has 10 fights. I’ve been competing since I was 5. I had 120-plus NCAA wrestling matches. I won a U-23 world championship. I’m coming with 10 times the experience you have. So when people say, ‘You’re not ready, stay in your lane,’ y’all don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. So you’ll see what happens once we get in the cage.”

Now it appears the two fighters could find themselves in London for UFC 285 should everything go according to plan. With Khamzat Chimaev’s penchant for causing chaos, we could be in for some major fireworks long before Baba O’Riley graces the stadium speakers.

Dana White is ready to bring the ruckus when the UFC returns to London in 2023.

At UFC 278, England-native Leon Edwards shocked the world with his picture-perfect head kick knockout of Kamaru Usman to capture the UFC welterweight championship. In the immediate aftermath, UFC President Dana White knew one thing for certain: The UFC is going back to London.

“We’re coming back to England with the rematch,” White said in an interview with BT Sport. “Leon Edwards in his home country in England. I’m getting goosebumps just telling you this. It’s been so long since we’ve brought a big title fight back to the UK and we’re gonna make that card look like [UFC 280]. And I’m so excited because you know how much I love the fans in England and the UK. I’m f*cking pumped!”

Dana White Will Give Khamzat Chimaev One More Chance at Welterweight

Another fighter Dana White would like to see as part of their stacked return to London in 2023 is Khamzat Chimaev. Coming off a massive weight miss ahead of his previously scheduled main event clash with Nate Diaz, many, including White, believed a move to middleweight was next for the Chechen-born fighter. However, Dana White is willing to give Chimaev one more shot at welterweight which he would like to see happen in London.

“Khamzat wants to fight at 170. I’m gonna give him one more opportunity to fight at 170. He needs to deliver and make the weight and I would love to do that fight in England too.

“I’m telling you, I’m gonna bring a bada** card to England. English fans have been incredible. They’re so fun. They bring such great energy to the place. And then finally, when Leon Edwards won that fight [at UFC 278], I literally walked right in the back and said, ‘We’re going to England boys.’ I said, ‘F*ck it. Move this whole schedule. We’re going to England.’ England deserves this and Leon Edwards deserves this and I’m excited. I can’t wait.”

UFC president, Dana White has confirmed the organization’s plan to return to the United Kingdom for a promotional event in March of next year – and remains receptive to the idea of booking a fight between the undefeated finisher, Khamzat Chimaev, and former interim titleholder, Colby Covington in a co-main event slot on a potential London card.

Undefeated in 12 professional fights, Chimaev, an alum of Brave CF, featured in an impromptu catchweight co-headlining clash against Kevin Holland at UFC 279 back in September, securing a first round D’Arce choke win in a dominant submission performance.

As for Covington, the Clovis native currently occupies the #2 rank in the official welterweight pile, having most recently defeated fellow former undisputed title chaser, Jorge Masvidal with a unanimous decision victory back in their March grudge match.

Linked with a potential middleweight division return off the back of a hectic UFC 279 fight week, Chimaev was initially scheduled to fight the promotional exiting contender, Nate Diaz in the event’s headliner, however, missed weight by a staggering seven and a half pounds – resulting in the clash’s cancellation.

Khamzat Chimaev has been continually linked with a fight against Colby Covington

However, with the promotion expected to land their Octagon in the United Kingdom for a potential London card or a stadium show in Cardiff – topped by a welterweight title trilogy rubber match between recently minted champion, Leon Edwards, and former kingpin, Kamaru Usman – White has sights on booking Khamzat Chimaev on that card.

Appearing during an interview with Oscar Willis from The Mac Life to preview this weekend’s massive UFC 280 pay-per-view event in Abu Dhabi, UAE – White maintained he was interested in booking Chimaev in a potential title-eliminator against Covington in the organization’s United Kingdom return in early 2023.

In another standout victory earlier this year, Khamzat Chimaev managed to defeat one-time undisputed title chaser, Gilbert Burns with a unanimous decision win back in April at UFC 273.
