Hot Potato: 20 Photos of Sexy Tattooed M-1 Global Ring Girl Anzhelika Anderson

All praises be to the UG for uncovering these photos of Anzhelika Anderson, a Russian “tattoo model” who occasionally carries cards for M-1 Global. I know next to nothing about Ms. Anderson’s interests, hobbies, or turn-ons and have been able to dig up even less, but if I were to take a guess, I’d say: tattoos, getting tattoos, and men with tattoos. I hope you are all ok with my blatant stereotyping.

Check out 20 of our favorite photos of Anzhelika in the gallery after the jump, then head over to her Instagram page for many, many more.

Vinny Magalhaes Returns to Zuffa’s Tender Embrace at UFC 151

(The super absorbent Shampow belt currently sells for $19.95, but if you call within the next ten minutes, because we can’t do this all day, we’ll throw in a baby for just the price of shipping and handling.)

It has been a very frustrating couple of years for M-1 Light Heavyweight champion and TUF 8 finalist Vinny Magalhaes. After winning the M-1 belt with a mounted gogoplata submission over Victor Nemkov in April of 2011, then defending it with a head kick TKO of Mikhail Zayats the following October, Magalhaes found himself in a bit of contract limbo with the well documented shysters at M-1. In short, they refused to offer him any more fights under his current contract while simultaneously trying to ink him a new one. Like we said, shysters.

Anyway, after nearly a year on the shelf, Magalhaes got desperate. So desperate, in fact, that he tried selling his belt on Ebay, which was valued at an astounding $99,999 before it was suddenly pulled off the market for reasons that have yet to be explained. However, it appears that Vinny has finally reached an agreement (re: his mercifully release) with his M-1 counterparts, as word has broke that the champ, who has gone 7-1 since being ousted from the UFC following a pair of losses to Ryan Bader and Elliot Marshall, will return to the sport’s highest promotion at UFC 151, which goes down from the Mandalay Bay in Vegas on September 1st. His opponent has yet to be named, but Tatame has the scoop:

Vinny “Pezao” Magalhaes is back to the UFC. The light heavyweight, who lost to Ryan Bader on the TUF 8 Finale, signed a contract with the organization and is set to fight at UFC 151, on September 1st, TATAME learned with sources.

Videos of Magalhaes’ title win and defense await you after the jump, along with the skinny on a potential signing in the UFC’s flyweight division.

Magalhaes vs. Nemkov finish

Magalhaes vs. Zayats (finish comes at 15:33)

Although you’ve gotta imagine that Vinny will fare much better in the UFC his second time around, based on the evidence, do you think we may very well be looking at a contender to Jon Jones’ (or possibly Dan Henderson’s) throne?

And speaking of hot prospects, rumor has it that inaugural/former Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion and current bantamweight champion Ulysses Gomez has signed with the UFC as well. The rumor was started by none other than the man himself, who Tweeted/retweeted the following:

Yeah I’m down! RT @IridiumSports@seanshelby Just got done talking to @uselessgomez, he’ll sign today to fight Formiga in Brazil…

Currently 9-2 in professional competition, Gomez is a submission specialist who most recently earned said bantamweight belt with a third round submission via guillotine over Cody Gibson last December. Gomez joins such prospects as Gunnar Nelson and Tom Watson to have recently signed with the UFC, and will make for a great addition to the UFC’s compact but stacked flyweight division.

And if you’re wondering who the mysterious “Formiga” is that UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby is referring to in that tweet, it would be none other than Jussier “Formiga” da Silva, a 14-1 Jiu-Jitsu powerhouse and fellow TPF veteran that is currently the #2 ranked flyweight in the world according to Sherdog (that is, if you believe in the “bullshit rankings system” created by the Jewish MMA media with the sole purpose of pissing off Josh Koscheck). It was announced that da Silva signed with the UFC just a few days ago, and it’s not looking like he will be given a walk in the park for his big debut.

[VIDEO] Aleksander Emelianenko’s Streak of Bizarre Near-TKO’s Continues

(Seen here: How Aleksander Emelianenko won his last fight.)

To get you in the mood for the brief, albeit saddening story we are about to tell you, you should first watch this. Now then…

Perhaps you are familiar with the tale of Henry Bemis, a lowly, nearly blind bank teller oft ridiculed for his near crippling obsession with the written word. Specifically, doggerel. Henry was a simple man, one who found more excitement in the whimsical tales of Charles Dickens than he did through actual interactions with his fellow man, a conundrum that had adverse effects on his occupation in more than a few instances. But what could he do? A passion is a passion, so in order to satisfy both his personal needs and his work requirements, Henry would often sneak into the bank’s vault during his lunch break and escape into whatever world his book of choice would provide for him.

On one such occasion, Henry happened to be reading the daily newspaper, which claimed that a new H-Bomb was “Capable of Total Destruction.” Before he could even grovel over such a morbid discovery, said bomb went off, killing not only everyone in the bank, but utterly destroying the entire planet. Left alone with only his thoughts, Henry decided to commit suicide via revolver to end his misery. But before he could do so, he found that the town’s library was amazingly still intact. Left with the quiet he so desperately craved, not to mention all the books he could read, Henry had basically found his utopia. That is, until he tripped and broke his glasses, rendering himself incapable of reading the very texts that he had found solitude in for as long as he could remember. Dooming him to a life of (literary) blue balls, if you will, and eventual suicide.

If recent history has indicated anything, it is that Aleksander Emelianenko is the living incarnation of the character portrayed by Burgess Meredith in that November 1959 episode of The Twilight Zone, and his most recent fight against Ibragim Magomedov at M-1 Challenge 33, which went down last night in Dzheirakh, Russia wrote this notion home with a resounding “Uuuuuuuuuggggggghhhhh….”

Join us after the jump for the video.

At 22-8, Magomedov was perhaps the most legit opponent the younger Emelianenko has faced since, well, the last time he faced Magomedov in 2009, wherein he earned a TKO victory in under 1 minute. While that may invalidate the previous sentence, the rematch did not go quite as smoothly for Emelianenko. As if you can even use the word “smoothly” to describe anything that has happened to Aleks in the past five or more years.

Taking place at a venue that fulfilled both fighters dreams of finally being able to walk down a barren, exposed hillside on their way to the ring, the first round of Emelianenko/Magomedov II was highlighted by some beautiful shots of Russian mountain ranges in the background and nothing else. Given Emelianenko’s ability to finish opponents without ever actually touching them, perhaps he was under the impression that his Jedi powers would lead him to victory once again.

But it was the second round where things ended in decidedly anticlimactic fashion, as has become the norm for Aleks. After landing a few decent combinations and battering Magomedov’s face in the process, Emelianenko’s fingers go all Kevin Burns on his opponent’s eye at the 2:49 mark, halting the action. Although the poke doesn’t appear to be all that significant, nor intentional, Magomedov is pissed nonetheless, and takes a moment to collect himself. When the bell signifying that third round is about to begin is rung, Magomedov claims that he cannot see (at least that’s what us English speakers took away from it) and after a couple minutes of confused shouting from everyone including the judges, the fight is called.

A doctor stoppage TKO win for Emelianenko at 5:00 of round two.

We know, we’re also confused.

Word has it that Emelanenko later stormed off, screaming “It’s not fair!” until he could no more, and for good reason. For, not unlike Mr. Bemis and his books, it seems that all Emelianenko really wants to do is have a good old fashioned throwdown, yet every opponent he steps into the ring against will simply not allow that to happen. And on the off chance that he actually finds a book worth reading, so to speak, Aleks drifts off before he can even finish the first chapter. We honestly feel a bit sorry for the guy, who appears all but unable to end a fight in satisfying faction these days.

Hopefully the win bonus he received for such an odd victory will help ease his pain.

Dear Lord, Vinny Magalhaes’ M-1 Belt is Currently Worth Over Fourteen Thousand Dollars

(Oh, come on, Vinny. You know that a belt is worthless once it has been in the bathroom! Photo courtesy of @VinnyMMA

Although we feel like we didn’t really get to know Vinny Magalhaes that well during his run on TUF 8 that took him all the way to the show’s finals, watching how he’s responded to his whole M-1 contract debacle has only endeared us to the guy all the more.

If you’re not familiar with the story, we’ll give you the gist: After winning the M-1 Light Heavyweight title back in October of 2011, Magalhaes got fed up with the promotion after they failed to offer him a single title defense under his contract, opting to attempt and resign him under a new one instead. M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan began a “he said/she said” contract dispute with Magalhaes that left the ADCC champion on the shelf for the rest of 2011 and all of 2012 to this point. After finally being told that he has been released from his contract, Vinny decided to put his belt up for sale on Ebay, figuring that it would at least sell for the 20 dollars worth of scrap metal it was composed of.

The bidding officially began on May 13th, and at a steal of just nine cents. It now stands at 14,600 dollars.

What. The. Shit.

What. The. Shit.

We have no idea what kind of person spends that kind of money on that kind of belt, so we’ve decided to come up with a few of the most likely options:

1. Dana White is buying the belt so he can place it next to the contract the UFC offered Fedor and a NEW contract for Vinny Magalhaes. He will then vlog himself setting fire to all three and pissing on the remains to put out the flames.

2. Chael Sonnen is buying the belt because he has been banned from Wal-Mart ever since ordering Mike Duke’s wife to build him some patio furniture, and the plastic on his current belt is starting to crack.

3. Tim Sylvia is buying the belt, along with one of Jake Shields’ EliteXC belts and the vacant DREAM heavyweight belt to try and convince Dana White that he is now a multi-promotional, multi-divisional champion, and finally deserves a shot in the UFC.

4. Unbeknownst to Vinny, the belt contains a microscopic map etched in crystal that will lead one to the lost city of Atlantis. Indiana Jones and a rambunctious group of Nazi’s are currently engaged in a bidding war that will determine the very future of mankind.

Feel free to add to the growing list of conspiracy theories in the comments section.

Fedor Emelianenko vs. Pedro Rizzo Confirmed for June 21st M-1 Global Show

(In Brazilian culture, the “Easter Bunny” is two men, one small and one large, covered in body hair and scars. / Photo via SporTV)

It’s not Rolles Gracie, it’s not Bobby Lashley, and it’s not Todd Duffee. According to a tweet sent out today by M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan, Fedor Emelianenko‘s opponent at the June 21st M-1 event at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg will instead be three-time UFC heavyweight title contender Pedro Rizzo. Please, try to control your excitement.

A free-agent who’s been out of the elite circuit of MMA competition for years, Rizzo didn’t compete at all last year, partly due to an arm injury. Still, he’s riding a three-fight win streak dating back to September 2009, with victories over Jeff Monson, Gary Goodridge, and Ken Shamrock. Meanwhile, Fedor picked-up back-to-back wins over Monson and Satoshi Ishii late last year, which followed his disastrous 1-3 run in Strikeforce.

On one hand, Rizzo feels like a hand-picked opponent for Fedor. On the other hand, there aren’t many better options outside of the Zuffa umbrella. Anybody looking forward to this one?
