UFC bantamweight Casey Kenney has issued a public apology for comments he made about featherweight fighter Megan Anderson.

Kenney is currently doing the media rounds ahead of his fight against 135lb legend Dominick Cruz at UFC 259 on March 6. Anderson is set to appear in the co-main event of that card, she will challenge dual-weight titleholder, Amanda Nunes.

During an appearance on Sean O’Malley’s podcast, Kenney was asked by Suga’s coach Tim Welch if he would have sex with Anderson.

“Probably not, man,” Kenney replied while laughing. “She’s not too … well, I mean, if it came down to it, and it was like 5 a.m., 4, she’s a 5 a.m.-er, 4 a.m.-er. Just us two hanging out, like, ‘F*ck it, let’s do it.’” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

The clip was shared on social media and Anderson was not happy at what she was hearing.

“I guess MMA is a line of work where you can publicly talk about whether you’d have sex with a coworker in an utterly degrading way and face zero consequences,” Anderson wrote. “Disgusting behavior and it’s unfortunate that he’ll be fighting on my card in March.

Kenney replied to Anderson with an apology, he wrote.

@MeganA_mma I’m sorry this upset you. I will be more careful with my words. I was just answering a question and thought it was all a joking matter. I see I was wrong and I’m sorry. Best of luck with training camp and your fight.”

As of right now, Anderson has not acknowledged Kenney’s apology

An undisputed UFC featherweight title matchup between two-weight world champion, Amanda ‘The Lioness’ Nunes, and number-one contender, Megan Anderson has been rebooked for UFC 259 on March 6. — with a location or venue for the event yet to be determined by the promotion.

Initially scheduled to take headlining status at UFC 255 earlier this month, reigning titleholder, Nunes was forced to withdraw from the clash in the weeks prior due to an undisclosed injury, with the matchup postponed and Anderson subsequently removed from the card entirely.

Featuring once in 2020, Nunes made the first successful defence of her 145-pound title at UFC 250 in June, taking curtain-closing honours against former Invicta FC champion, Felicia ‘Feenom’ Spencer in a relatively comfortable unanimous decision victory.

Earning her crack at Nunes’ throne, another former Invicta FC titleholder, Anderson extended her winning spree to two fights via a first-round knockout win over Norma Dumont Viana at UFC Fight Night Norfolk in February. News of Nunes’ rescheduling against Anderson was first penned by ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto

Arguably the most dominant and successful force in female mixed martial arts history, Bahia bruiser, Nunes has knocked back, stunning, eleven competitors on her current run. The reigning bantamweight and featherweight throne holder has scored career victories over the likes of Vanessa Porto, Julia Budd, Germaine de Randamie (x2), Shayna Baszler, Sara McMann, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Cris Cyborg, and Holly Holm.

Queensland striker, Anderson arrived in the UFC back in June 2018 at UFC 225 — initially faltering against former 135-pound titleholder, the above-mentioned, Holm, Establishing a 3-1 record since, Anderson dropped a quickfire rear-naked choke to common-foe, Spencer, in between a controversial stoppage win over former championship chaser, Cat Zingano, and a triangle submission of Zarah Fairn dos Santos prior to her knockout win over Dumont.

Claiming the interim Invicta FC featherweight title, Anderson, who was later promoted to the undisputed gold holder took home a second-round knockout win over Charmaine Tweet back at Invicta FC 21 in January 2017. From eleven professional victories, the 30-year-old Aussie has managed six knockout victories and a further three submissions.

Aljamain Sterling Calls For UFC 256 Main Event Slot

UFC bantamweight title challenger Aljamain Sterling wants his fight against Petr Yan to be bumped into the main event slot after Amanda Nunes’ withdrawal forced the headliner to be scrapped.

UFC 256 was meant to be headlined by a women’s featherweight title bout between Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson, with Sterling and Yan serving as the co-main event. However, it was announced on November 9 that Nunes would no longer be able to make it to the December 12 event. That fight is expected to remain intact and be rescheduled for a later date.

Following the news of the drop out, Sterling took to Twitter to let it be known that he feels his fight is deserving of the top spot.

Sterling has earned his title shot on the back of a 5-fight winning streak over some of the divisions top names. He most recently picked up a first-round submission over Cory Sandhagen at UFC 250, and he also has wins over Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera during his run. Yan, on the other hand, will be looking to make the first defense of his bantamweight title, which he won after dominating the legendary Jose Aldo.

With UFC 256 coming up in a month, it appears that the UFC will have few options to fill the main event spot. While bumping Yan vs Sterling into the headlining role might seem like the obvious choice, neither main has proven to be a PPV draw and the UFC usually likes to end the year with a bang. There are a number of big-name stars the UFC could call upon to fill the spot – Conor McGregor chief among them – but it’s unlikely any would be willing to do so on such short notice.

Whoever does eventually get the headlining role may not consider themselves so lucky. The spot has seen a bit of a curse, as it originally belonged to Kamaru Usman, who was set to defend against Gilbert Burns. Like Nunes vs Anderson, that fight was delayed until 2021.

Hopefully whoever does get to headline the card makes it to December 12, and Sterling and Yan are able to have an exciting fight, regardless of where they are placed.

Do you think Aljamain Sterling should headline UFC 256 against Petr Yan? Let us know!

The main event of UFC 256 on December 12th. has taken a major hit. Promoted to headlining status, the featherweight championship pairing of Amanda ‘The Lioness’ Nunes and challenger, Megan Anderson has fallen to the wayside, with the former withdrawing from the tie, with reasons still undisclosed.

According to a recent report from ESPN MMA reporter, Brett Okamoto, Nunes has withdrawn from the event’s main event opposite Anderson, however, the matchup between the pair is set to remain intact, ahead of a rescheduling for a card in early 2021.

Nunes, the undisputed bantamweight and featherweight titleholder most recently took main event status at UFC 250 in June at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, scoring the first defence of her 145-pound crown with a relatively one-sided unanimous decision win over contender, Felicia ‘Feenom’ Spencer.

Australian striker, Anderson earned her premier title challenge under the UFC’s banner off the back of two consecutive victories over both Zarah Fairn dos Santos, and at UFC Fight Night Norfolk took home a knockout win over Norma Dumont Viana in February.

Bahia bruiser, Nunes is the consensus greatest female mixed martial artist of all time, as well as the most decorated practitioner among her UFC peers. With victories over former and current world champions, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Germaine de Randamie (x2), Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, and Ronda Rousey – the 32-year-old has convincingly cleaned out the 135-pound ranks.

Anderson, 30 has amassed an 11-4 professional record, scoring three wins under the UFC’s banner since her promotional bow back in 2018.

Claiming the interim Invicta FC title in a second-round high-kick knockout win over Charmaine Tweet, Anderson was promoted to the undisputed gold holder prior to her move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

While Nunes and Anderson follow the fallout of a scheduled welterweight title matchup between champion, Kamaru ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman, and grappler, Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns – the UFC 256 showcase features a well-overdue bantamweight championship clash between Petr ‘No Mercy’ Yan and streaking challenger, Aljamain ‘Funk Master’ Sterling.

As of writing, it’s currently undisclosed if the promotion will promote the 135-pound title match of Yan and Sterling to the main event, or if the organization will attempt to put together another clash to take headlining status.
