Misfits Boxing’s latest offering, featuring the highly anticipated grudge match between Logan Paul and Dillon Danis, appears to have been a smash hit, reportedly bringing in 1.3 million pay-per-view buys.

The report comes courtesy of Happy Punch who revealed the massive number on social media which is said to include over 800,000 live purchases, making it the largest non-professional/amateur boxing event of all time.

Much of that success is being credited to Dillon Danis who brought an insane amount of attention to the event and his fight with Paul after spending weeks online terrorizing the social media star and his fiancee, Nina Agdal ahead of fight night. Unfortunately, the build-up turned out to be much more entertaining than the fight, with Danis opting to keep his guard high and absorb punishment for six rounds of lackluster action.

In the end, Danis was disqualified for trying to lock in a guillotine choke in the waning seconds of the final round. The attempt sent team members from both sides rushing into the ring, including Logan Paul’s boxing brother, Jake Paul, who quickly ran in before retreating from the scuffle.

Dillon Danis and Tommy Fury Fail to Live Up to the Hype

In the main event of the evening, UK superstars KSI and Tommy Fury squared off in another bout that left a lot to be desired. Through six rounds, both fighters most of their time in the clinch, prompting the referee to step in every two seconds and offer up the occasional warning. By the time it was all said and done, Fury walked away with his 10th straight win via a majority decision.

In an interview with Boxing Social, John Fury, the father of both Tommy Fury and his world champion brother, Tyson Fury, offered up his take on the sleep-inducing contest.

“To be honest with you, styles make fights and it wasn’t a good watch,” John Fury told Boxing Social. I’m used to seeing two men stand up and box properly. But when another man’s from another background completely to what we’re doing, it’s hard to replicate in sparring, but we knew what he was going to do and I didn’t expect the referee to let him get away with as much holding.

“He was holding him constantly and he couldn’t get his arms out, he was smothering his work, it was horrible to watch. Listen, like I said to mark the end of it: If [KSI] had gotten the decision, there’d have been no qualms from me” (h/t Boxing Scene).

Fortunately, the event was loaded up with a lot of entertaining undercard fights, making up for the less-than-impressive showing by the final four.

Dillon Danis showed off some of his pro wrestling skills during Wednesday’s Misfits Boxing open workout.

Danis, who is scheduled to step into the squared circle for a co-main event grudge match with social media star Logan Paul, was in attendance at the open workouts ahead of ‘The PRIME Card’ on Saturday night. However, instead of offering onlookers a glimpse at his striking skills, Danis instead opted to show off his acrobatic skills by performing a few wrestling moves inside the ring.

With an assist from UFC middleweight fighter Phil Hawes, Danis delivered his take on wrestling superstar Jeff Hardy’s patented Swanton Bomb.

The pro wrestling moves were likely nothing more than Dillon Danis taking a shot at Logan Paul who is currently signed with the WWE and has appeared at multiple major events for the organization in recent years.

Dillon Danis Puts His BJJ Moves on Display Ahead of Boxing Match

Danis was also seen slamming Hawes to the mat multiple times while locking in joint locks, chokes, and at one point, an omoplata. Of course, none of these moves will be legal when he steps into the ring this weekend leaving those in attendance quite confused by the showing.

Perhaps Dillon Danis showing off his grappling skills at the open workout lends to Brendan Schaub’s belief that should things start to go sour for the BJJ specialist, he could choose to simply choke out Logan Paul in the middle of the boxing ring.

Danis has been nothing short of unpredictable in the weeks building up to his fight with Logan Paul, leading many to expect utter chaos when (and if) he actually steps into the ring. Danis will be competing for the first time in more than four years, having last competed under the Bellator banner in June 2019.

Alex Stein

Right-wing YouTube personality Alex Stein was removed from the Misfits & DAZN X Series 8: Survivor Tag boxing event after throwing hotdogs at his Muslim opponent during an out-of-control press event.

Alex Stein was set to make his boxing debut as part of the Happy Punch preliminary card, but that is no longer the case after things got a little out of hand between him and his previously scheduled opponent Mohammad Kubba, aka YouTube star Mo Deen.

I brought you a little gift because I know you love hotdogs,” Stein said moments before chucking a container of hotdogs at the Muslim fighter. Deen immediately burst out of his chair and climbed on a table in an effort to get to his opponent while Stein continued to deliver a barrage of insults taking aim at Deen’s religious beliefs. “You love pork, right?… I think those are halal,” Stein quipped.

Alex Stein and Mo Deen Respond to Fight Cancellation

While the incredibly disrespectful display generated a ton of buzz for the event on social media, the promotion announced that Alex Stein had been removed from the card as a result of his antics. He took to Twitter later on, claiming the hotdogs that he used were in fact turkey dogs.

Both men have since issued a statement and were understandably upset to find out that the fight had been scrapped. Deen issued a statement, which you can see below, and Stein offered his own justification for why the fight should go on as scheduled. “My own opponent still wants to fight but unfortunately canceling me is more important than the actual boxing match,” Stein tweeted. “Mo deserves the chance to knock me out but they officially squashed that chance for him.”

Misfits boxing events are known for being big on spectacle and light on talent, but as it turns out, there is a very fine line that can be crossed and Alex Stein seems to have found it.
