Former undisputed UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor will officially return as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 31 with the reality television show set to begin at the end of May – with the Dubliner coaching against the #5 ranked lightweight contender, Michael Chandler, ahead of an eventual fight between the two.

Earlier this month, reports emerged detailing how McGregor, 34, would be returning to the Octagon as part of The Ultimate Fighter 31 in a coaching capacity, ahead of making his official UFC comeback later this year.

Conor McGregor is slated to coach on TUF against lightweight veteran, Michael Chandler

And as per promotional president, Dana White, Cono McGregor will now coach the return of The Ultimate Fighter, taking on Michael Chandler, a former lightweight title challenger at the culmination of the season. An official date, location, or event for McGregor’s fight Chandler has yet to be announced by the organization.

Most recently competing at UFC 264 back in July of 2021, McGregor headlined against former interim champion, Dustin Poirier, suffering a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss after he fractured his left tibia and fibula. The loss came as Conor McGregor’s second consecutively against Louisana native, Poirier, after he suffered a second round KO loss to the latter in January of that year on ‘Fight Island’.

As for Chandler, the current #5 ranked challenger has yet to book his Octagon return since featuring on the main card of UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden. Again tackling common-foe, Poirier, Chandler, a former three-time Bellator MMA lightweight champion suffered an eventual third round rear-naked choke submission loss.

Without a victory since a January 2020 40-second high-kick and strikes knockout win over Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor coached The Ultimate Fighter back in 2015 following his interim featherweight title win over Chad Mendes, coaching opposite former WEC featherweight champion, Urijah Faber.

Ahead of his undisputed UFC middleweight championship rematch against arch-rival, Israel Adesanya at UFC 287 on April 8. – Brazilian knockout ace, Alex Pereira has issued a chilling message to the Nigerian-Kiwi – claiming he’s “ready to kill” ahead of his Octagon return.

Headlining UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden, Sao Paulo striking phenom, Alex Pereira managed to clinch the undisputed middleweight crown with a stunning, fifth round rallying TKO win over City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya.

The victory came as Pereira’s seventh in professional mixed martial arts, and third in combat sports over Adesanya alone, following a prior dubious decision win, and a knockout win in the pair’s GLORY Kickboxing re-run in his native Brazil.

Booked to rematch Adesanya at UFC 278 on April 8. – with the pay-per-view event expected to take place in Miami, Florida, although a location has yet to be determined by the organization at the time of publication.

Prior to his win over Adesanya at MSG last November, Alex Pereira, a former middleweight and light heavyweight titleholder under the aforenoted, GLORY Kickboxing banner – stopped Andreas Michailidis in his Octagon debut, before landing a decision win over Bruno Silva, a knockout success against division contender, Sean Strickland.

Previewing their April rematch, Pereira posted a picture on his official Instagram of himself standing opposite Adesanya at UFC 281 in November last, with the caption “ready to kill” ahead of the duo’s rematch.

Seeing his reign at middleweight champion halted in his knockout defeat to Pereira, Adesanya had racked up five successful title defenses over division competition since assuming the undisputed throne in 2019.

Last year alone, Adesanya defeated Jared Cannonier and Robert Whittaker, following a prior win over two-time foe, Marvin Vettori, a knockout of Paulo Costa, and a forgettable decision success over promotional alum, Yoel Romero.

Former two-weight UFC lightweight and featherweight titleholder, Conor McGregor has pumped more money into his local community – this time donating €1,000,000 into his old boxing club, Crumlin Boxing Club in Dublin, as the club look to extend their single story facility to a three story gym.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined from active competition since UFC 264 back in July 2021, suffering a fractured left tibia and fibula en route to a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss against Dustin Poirier.

For that camp, as well as his rematch with Poirier in January of that year – and his knockout win over Donald Cerrone back in January 2020, Conor McGregor brought veteran Crumlin Boxing Club, Phil Sutcliffe into his corner and camp.

And the 34-year-old Crumlin has now donated a sum of €1,000,000 into extending and renovating Crumlin Boxing Club.

“Conor McGregor paid €1,000,000 to get Crumlin Boxing Club extended making it the Best Boxing Club on the planet & 3 best coaches also, Philip, Bra, & Stephen (Irish flag emoji),” Crumlin Boxing Club posted on their official Tik Tok account. (H/T Jordan Ellis

Reigning UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling has sights set on making an eventual featherweight division move – likely after his expected fight with former two-weight champion, Henry Cejudo later this year.

Initially expected to feature at UFC 287 on April 8. – Sterling’s return to the Octagon for his next tile defense against Olympic gold medalist, Cejudo, has yet to be made official by the UFC – who have already booked a middleweight title rematch between Alex Pereira, and Israel Adesanya for the event in a headlining slot.

Most recently co-headlining UFC 280 back in October of last year in Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sterling scored the second defense of his bantamweight title reign with a dominant, second round TKO win over former two-time division champion, T.J. Dillashaw.

As for Cejudo, the Los Angeles-born former champion has yet to return to active competition since 2020, where he bowed out of the sport off the back of a title defense win over another former two-time bantamweight kingpin, Dominick Cruz.

Aljamain Sterling plans eventual climb to the featherweight limit

Still expected to stand opposite Cejudo in his next Octagon appearance, Uniondale tactician, Sterling admits bantamweight offers very little else for him beyond that fight with Cejudo – as he weighs up a long-rumored leap to featherweight waters.

“I could see a second round finish, TKO,” Aljamain Sterling said during a recent interview with The Schmo. “After I finish Henry Cejudo, I really don’t think the bantamweight division has anything left for me. Maybe a money fight with Sean O’Malley if he can get his toenails in order and make sure he stays pretty on the sidelines and healthy.”

“He (Sean O’Malley) doesn’t want to fight anybody tough at the top of the division, because he needs time to get ready for the grappling, and I understand [that],” Aljamain Sterling said. “We would kind of run through him right now. So maybe that fight might entice me or I’m probably just going to go up to 145 (pounds) and let Merab (Dvalishvili) continue to reign terror on the rest of these guys in the bantamweight division.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Currently at the featherweight limit, incoming UFC 284 headliner, Alexander Volkanovski rules the division roost, with a co-headlining fight at the same event between Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett set to determine the interim division gold holder.

UFC welterweight and lightweight alum, Nate Diaz has hit out at current light heavyweight contender, Anthony Smith – in a rather surprising targeting, calling the one-time title challenger a “dumbf*ck” in reaction to claims from Smith that he is invested in viewing the Dana White-led, Power Slap League.

Diaz, a former lightweight title challenger during his tenure with the organization and a victor of The Ultimate Fighter, most recently featured under the promotion’s banner back in September of last year in the main event of UFC 279.

Initially scheduled to fight against the undefeated, Khamzat Chimaev in his Octagon swansong, Nate Diaz instead met with former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson at the welterweight limit after Chimaev missed weight by seven and a half pounds.

Headlining the T-Mobile Arena event, Diaz bowed out from the organization with a rallying fourth round guillotine choke submission win – handing Oxnard native, Ferguson his fifth consecutive loss.

Nate Diaz hits out at Anthony Smith in surprising attack

Yet to ink a new deal with a promotion as he is free to field offers amid interest from multiple organizations, Diaz, who recently posted a cryptic tweet regarding Japanese promotion, Rizin FF – led by Nobuyuki Sakakibara, took aim at one-time lightweight title chaser, Smith on his official Twitter.

“Anthony Smith is a dumbf*ck,” Nate Diaz tweeted

Sharing his thoughts on Power Slap League, Smith, a native of Nebraska who remains hopeful of challenging recently minted undisputed light heavyweight champion, Jamahal Hill in a title fight following a previously shelved pairing, expressed his delight at the controversial promotion.

“I cannot get enough of the Power Slap League,” Anthony Smith said on Sirius XM. “My body is ready for a pay-per-view.  I will pay it. I don’t care how much it costs. I’ll pre-pay. I’ll pre-pay the next 10. I love it. I don’t know why, I can’t give you a rason. Maybe because I was there during the pilot of it and I’ve seen it in person.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
