Tai Tuivasa Jon Jones Stipe Miocic

Coming off an impressive win over Derrick Lewis, adding to his current 5 fight knockout streak, Western Sydney’s own Tai Tuivasa is ready for all challenges coming his way. In a recent interview, he breaks down a matchup between two potential future opponents, as rumors circulate around a fight between former light-heavyweight king Jon Jones and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Tai Tuivasa gives his take on both Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic

In a recent interview, ‘Bam Bam’ discussed the current landscape in the heavyweight division, but he focused his attention on two potential opponents, Jon Jones, and Stipe Miocic.

When asked about his opinion on both Jones and Miocic, Tuivasa did not shy away from telling exactly how he feels about both men as people and competitors. “Bam Bam” stated that “Jon Jones is probably the best MMA fighter of all time… he’s still a d*ckhead.”

Tuivasa went on to say that “I think he’s [Jones] the greatest. In my personal opinion, he’s the best MMA fighter of all time, but if you’re a f****n’ idiot then you’re a f****n’ idiot.”

On the topic of potential HW GOAT Stipe Miocic, Tuivasa noted that “He’s [Miocic] the best heavyweight champion.” The respect for the former champ is there for Tuivasa but in his personal opinion he believes that father time is calling for Miocic, as he also remarked that “I think Stipe’s just getting a bit old.”

Tai Tuivasa breaks down the matchup and leans towards Jon Jones against Stipe Miocic

When discussing the potential matchup, Tuivasa stated that “I think it’ll happen.” He went on to talk about how he believes Jones “will be good at any weight he fights at” and says that the biggest difference between Jones’ opponents at light-heavyweight compared to the potential opponents at heavyweight is that “everyone at heavyweight packs a powerful punch.”

Tuivasa went on to say that “if I ever got the opportunity, I would fight him [Jones]… maybe I win, maybe I lose, but at least I can say I got a crack.”

Tai Tuivasa’s current 5-fight KO streak over Stefan Struve, Harry Hunsucker, Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Derrick Lewis has set him up for the biggest challenge he will face in his professional career. With a dominant and impressive win over Ciryl Gane in September, he could be catapulted to the top of the division, granting him the opportunity to challenge for the Heavyweight belt next.

If Tai Tuivasa beats Gane will he get the winner of Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones or will he get a chance to challenge for the heavyweight belt?

UFC middleweight contender, Sean Strickland has seen his official Twitter account suspended by the platform, following a series of flagrant tweets earlier today, including a series of tweets directed at the transgender community.

Sean Strickland is set to fight Alex Pereira at UFC 276 on July 2.

Sean Strickland, the official #4 ranked middleweight contender, is currently set to return at UFC 276 on July 2. during International Fight Week in a high-stakes fight against Brazilian kickboxing talent, Alex Pereira.

In his most recent Octagon walk, the outspoken contender headlined UFC Vegas 47 in February, defeating former Cage Warriors champion, Jack Hermansson with a close, split decision victory.

A native of North Carolina, Strickland has received mass attention over the last year, openly discussing his time as a Neo-Nazi during his younger years, as well as claiming that he has had dreams and has fantasized about potentially killing an opponent of his during a fight. Strickland has also claimed that he controls urges to commit manslaughter on a day-to-day basis.

Across social media, Strickland, 31, has received criticism for numerous flagrant tweets on a consistent basis, aimed at minorities in society, and claimed the country of Ukraine “should just bend the knee” amid the ongoing invasion from Vladimir Putin’s neighbouring, Russia.

The middleweight contender’s official Twitter account has now been officially suspended by the platform, however, with his page, @SSStricklandMMA now currently unavailable to view – with his account page currently reading, “Account suspended. Tom Aspinall Proposes Mixed-Rules Bout For Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou Clash

Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou, Tom Aspinall

UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall believes that Tyson Fury should take on Francis Ngannou in a mixed-rules contest.

Taking a page from ONE Championship‘s playbook, Fury’s former teammate Tom Aspinall suggested a hybrid ruleset for the crossover fight. Aspinall proposed the idea of having rules change between rounds much like the recent MMA/Muay Thai showdown between Rodtang and Demetrious Johnson at ONE X.

Tom Aspinall recommends mixed-rules for Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou

Following Fury’s latest win over Dillian Whyte, Francis Ngannou walked into the ring as the pair promoted the idea of the possible megafight. One major sticking point in regard to their matchup has been the ruleset that would be utilized for such a unique showing.

To his credit, Fury has expressed his willingness to wear MMA gloves which are considerably smaller in size than the traditional boxing mitts but hasn’t spoken about much of a change in the standard boxing rules.

According to rising contender Aspinall, a match like the Rodtang-Johnson one, where the rules changed from MMA to Muay-Thai between rounds, would make more sense for Fury’s clash with Ngannou. Having just one sport dictate the rules can heavily skew the odds against the other sportsman.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Tom Aspinall recommended ways how to make the crossover fight work. Aspinall suggested the addition of a new technique from MMA as the rounds progressed.

“Little gloves, for sure, and five-minute rounds, that would definitely make it a little bit even. I think they should do first round boxing only. Second round, maybe, boxing and low kicks.

“And third round, I don’t know, boxing, low kicks, and clinching. I think something like that would make it a bit more even.”

Aspinall talked about how Fury has trained grappling in the past with other MMA stars like Darren Till at the gym.

“I’ve grappled with him [Fury] before,” Aspinall explained. “He’s interested in it. So, I know he’s done bits of grappling, bits of kicks, and all that. He was down in our gym training with Darren Till before, doing kicks on the pads and all that stuff. So, he’s definitely got interest in it. I don’t know. I’d love to see it, though.” (h/t Mirror)

Ngannou has been in a deadlock with the UFC regarding the terms of his next contract. If the heavyweight king chooses not to resign with the promotion, ‘The Predator’ could become a free agent next year to make the fight with Fury happen.

UFC welterweight Michel Pereira has fired shots at Francis Ngannou after their recent altercation at a hotel.

Pereira took on Santiago Ponzinibbio this past weekend at UFC Vegas 55. Serving as the co-main event on the night, their three-round bout was a close-fought affair that ultimately saw Pereira come out on top by a split decision.

Following his win over Ponzinibbio, the 28-year-old was in high spirits and wanted to celebrate after extending his win streak to five. He took to the fighter hotel to drink and cheer up with his mates post-fight but found himself in trouble with the reigning UFC heavyweight champion.

Michel Pereira talks run-in with Francis Ngannou

In an interview with Canal Encarada (via Ngannou_MMA), Michel Pereira talked about how he and his mates were in a cheerful mood. The group took to the hotel corridor to continue their celebrations but were inadvertently affecting their fellow behemoth.

“We celebrated my victory at the hotel, had fun,” Pereira said. “And we are such guys – we move only with music, we constantly light up, even when we cut weight. I always rock, and my guys are the same. Constantly moving noisily, having parties. Guerra was drinking there non-stop, everyone was joking, bantering. And our room was next door to Ngannou.

“And since the room was small, and there were a lot of people, someone suggested, ‘Let’s sit in the hallway?’ And we sat down in the corridor, and immediately came out to us – who would you think? Ngannou. The guys look at each other like that, ‘Wow, Ngannou is coming.’

“He comes up and says, ‘Hey, do you think it’s real to fall asleep when there’s such a noise? How do I sleep, huh?’ Honestly, at that moment I felt uncomfortable. I was after a hard fight, my nose was broken, my legs were beaten off. If Ngannou started a fight, what would I do to him? The team is already all drunk, they wouldn’t have helped me in any way.”

‘Demolidor’ confessed to his lack of desire for picking a fight with the man who has been recorded to have the strongest punch. Getting hit by Ngannou is equivalent to being struck by a Ford Escort at full speed. Although Michel Pereira obliged to his requests, he was not happy with how ‘The Predator’ conducted his behavior.

“Honestly, Ngannou made me angry,” Pereira added. “Why couldn’t he address us politely? He was lucky that I was all beaten up and couldn’t do anything, especially for a guy of this size. I don’t even want to think about it. I know he’s a modest, nice guy, but why couldn’t he tell us politely, ‘Hey, guys, could you …’ I didn’t like the way he spoke to us. You need to be polite to people.

“If he had addressed us politely, we would have retained respect for him forever. And so – we just fell silent. ‘What the f—k?! Do you think you can fall asleep with such noise?’ Bro, we were just drinking … You have to be polite to people. I could have answered him too, ‘Bro, go f—k. Who are you anyway?’” (h/t TalkSport)

Suffering a brutal, one-sided third round knockout loss to former UFC middleweight title challenger, Yoel Romero at Bellator 280 earlier this month in Paris, France – promotional staple, Alex Polizzi has now revealed he also sustained a fractured jaw as a result of Romero’s bludgeoning.

Polizzi, who fell to 10-2 as a professional, made his debut under the Scott Coker-led Bellator banner back in September 2020, and replaced veteran kickboxing talent, Melvin Manhoef at the light heavyweight limit – meeting Cuban veteran and Olympic bronze medalist, Yoel Romero in the French capital.

Suffering a series of damaging knockdowns against the American Top Team staple, Polizzi was eventually finished with just a single second remaining in the third round of this fight, with Romero springing with another massive shot – landing another knockdown, and then following up with subsequent ground strikes.

The victory came as Romero, who was quince booked to challenge for UFC gold during his tenure with the organization, first since his move to Bellator – after he lost a unanimous decision defeat against former light heavyweight kingpin, Phil Davis at Bellator 266 in September of last year.

Revealing the extent of his injuries suffered against Yoel Romero, Polizzi detailed how he had injured his left foot during the fight, however, more worryingly – the six-fight Bellator veteran shared x-ray images of a fractured jaw suffered in his fight against the fan-favorite.

“Ope!” Alex Polizzi posted on Instagram, accompanied by x-ray images. “We should probably just heal and drink @milk for a bit.”

Yoel Romero has since been booked to fight Melvin Manhoef at Bellator Dublin in September

Off the back of his impressive win against Polizzi – which marked his first victory since a brutal February 2018 knockout success against former UFC middleweight best, Luke Rockhold, Romero has since been booked to fight the aforenoted, Manhoef in a rescheduled co-headlining clash at Bellator Dublin in September.

Marvin Vettori

UFC middleweight contender, Marvin Vettori has his reservations regarding Jared Cannoniner’s ability to spring an upset against defeat soon to be common-foe, champion, Israel Adesanya at UFC 276 – but will keep a firm eye on proceedings, targeting his own title shot with a potential September return.

Vettori, the current #3 ranked middleweight contender, managed to return from a second career loss to Adesanya back in June, with an impressive unanimous decision win over Paulo Costa in an impromptu light heavyweight main event in November of last year.

Initially booked to fight former champion, Robert Whittaker in a high-stakes matchup at UFC 275 on June 11. in Singapore, the pairing was officially shelved after Whittaker suffered an undisclosed injury during fight camp, ruling him from the bout.

Whilst not officially confirmed by the organization, both Vettori and Whittaker appear to have verbally agreed to a UFC Fight Night Paris showdown at the Accor Arena on September 3. – ahead of the organization’s first outing in France.

Marvin Vettori doubts Jared Cannonier can spring an upset against Israel Adesanya in July

Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming July 2. International Fight Week middleweight title outing between Adesanya and the #2 rated, Cannonier, Vettori has doubts the Texan can offer something new to Adesanya in his bid to land an upset title triumph.

“I don’t think there’s much he can do, to be honest, I don’t see (Jared) Cannonier winning that fight, to be honest,” Marvin Vettori told The Schmo during a recent interview. “But, again, he’s been around for a while, he got his shot, let’s see if he can make the most out of it.”

“In reality, if he (Cannonier) wins, I’m definitely next after I beat (Robert) Whittaker so,” Marvin Vettori explained. “I don’t even care, to be honest, I don’t even care. I’ve been around for a while. I believe I’m the best – even the rankings say, if I’m not the best, I’m right there. I’m gonna get my shot sooner or later, and that’s all I care for.”

Earning his premier title outing under the promotion’s banner, Cannonier stopped division staple, Derek Brunson with a flurry of brutal second round ground elbows at UFC 271 back in February – landing his second straight victory.
