Tyson Nam snapped rising prospect Ode Osbourne’s two-fight win streak at UFC on ESPN 41.

Going into the bout as one of the hottest stocks in the promotion, Osbourne was looking to extend his winning run with a victory over Nam, who was coming off a loss to Matt Schnell. They clashed on the prelims of UFC Fight Night: Vera vs. Cruz at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Osbourne appeared confident from the start as he put on a flashy performance using his wide range of striking options. Nam stayed composed and analyzed his opponent’s movement. After Osbourne threw a flying knee, Nam gave back an ominous smile as an indicator of what was to come. Osbourne threw another flying knee and Name sent him crashing back down to the ground with a vicious right hook.

Ode Osbourne UFC San Diego

Here at LowKick MMA, we recently had the chance to catch up with Ode Osbourne while he was refining his skills in the gym ahead of his Tyson Nam fight at UFC San Diego.

Among talking about things like his spiritual faith, Osbourne discussed how he’s “At peace” leading into this fight. While also discussing his change in weight classes and how it’s benefitted him so far.

“I feel at peace,” Ode Osbourne told Lowkick MMA’s Alex Behunin. “I feel like I’m finally coming together… It’s like climbing a mountain man, its been good. The move out here (to Las Vegas) was definitely worth it.”

Ode Osbourne’s Flourishing Spiritual Connection And How It’s Helped Him In Life and MMA

When asked about his change of weight class, and the current winning streak he’s on, Ode Osbourne gave all glory to god: “I really had to focus, and it sounds weird, but I really had to submit to god… That’s where change happens because I’ve been fighting (it), walking upstream for so long, my entire life. Ive finally put it all in god and let him take care of it. And since then, Ive been like a hot-knife through butter.”

‘The Jamaican Sensation’ would go on to elaborate on spreading the word of god. Saying it would be selfish of him to keep the word of god to himself. Later on, Osbourne and Behunin would touch on the change of weight.

“The reason why I went down to being a flyweight is because there’s less guys at flyweight division. Getting a belt at flyweight will be quicker then getting a belt at 135lbs. You could be sitting in the 135lbs division for three years to crack the top 10. Where as flyweight, you get three good wins in, and you’re top 10, top 15.”

“It’s an Uphill Battle”

“…You put your faith in god, and everything will come to fruition, and that’s literally what its been doing right now. Everything is coming to fruition, right now. And its not just right now, its gonna be that way the rest of my life. And its not gonna be easy, its an uphill battle.”

“I have this light in me,” Ode Osbourne continued. “I just wanna shine that thing bright, because there’s so much negativity. I want when my kids see me, and when people of the world see me on TV, they just start smiling. They’re like ‘Man, look at that dude Ode Osbourne, he’s just so positive’ I just wanna smile… Shine that light bright for everybody… Not just for the Jamaican kid, the African kid, the Mexican kid, the Chinese kid. Every kid in the world. I want everybody to see me doing what I’m doing, and just become exuberant, just become happy…”

Undoubtedly a true role model with that sentiment, soon, the tide of conversation turned to Osbourne’s impending battle with fearsome knockout artist Tyson Nam.

Ode Osbourne Breaks Down the Tyson Nam Fight

“I am extremely excited…” Ode Osbourne began. “I know Tyson Nam is a very seasoned opponent and I’m not looking past him. He’s dangerous, he’s got a nice cross. He’s knocked out all the same guys I’ve knocked out… Two knockout artists going against each other is going to be phenomenal. But, I’m gonna set one thing straight. I know what I possess and I’m going to go in there looking to finish him.”

‘The Jamaican Sensation’ laughed when asked about the matchup. “It couldn’t be a better matchup,” He said. Signaling out the knockout power both of them possess as an indicator this fight will be wild and entertaining.

UFC flyweights Ode Osbourne and Karine Silva took home an extra $50k for securing impressive finishes at UFC Vegas 56.

Osbourne made a statement on the UFC Vegas 56 main card with a jaw-dropping knockout of Zarrukh Adashev just a minute into the fight. He threw a counter right hook that dropped Adashev and followed it up with ground-and-pound strikes.

Osbourne has now won three of his last four, with wins over C.J. Vergara and Jerome Rivera. He earned a shot in the UFC back in 2019 following a first-round submission on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Just minutes after Osbourne’s knockout, Silva put on a memorable performance in her UFC debut with a first-round submission of Poliana Botelho. She secured a d’arce choke with just five seconds left in the first round to earn her first win in the Octagon.

Like Osbourne, Silva also earned her shot in the Octagon following a finish on DWCS. Before that, she enjoyed successful stints in smaller promotions in Brazil such as SFT and Cidade da Luta.

The UFC Vegas 56 ‘Fight of the Night’ went to a featherweight bloodbath between Michael Trizano and Lucas Almeida. The two 145lb brawlers went toe-to-toe on the feet, with Almeida eventually securing a late TKO win.

Almeida made his UFC debut following wins in Jungle Fight and Predador FC in Brazil. He fell short of a contract on DWCS last year and made his first Octagon appearance emphatically.

Also of note: in the main event, Alexander Volkov earned a first-round TKO over Jairzinho Rozenstruik to get back on track in the heavyweight division.

What are your thoughts on Ode Osbourne and the other UFC Vegas 56 bonus winners?
