Cris Cyborg will seek her third-straight successful Bellator title defense next month at Bellator 271 against top contender Sinead Kavanagh.

Bellator president Scott Coker announced the fight during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. The event is scheduled for Nov. 12 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.

This will be Cyborg’s fourth fight in Bellator since moving on from the UFC in 2019. She is widely regarded as one of the best female MMA fighters of all time and has looked dominant since moving over to Bellator.

Cyborg is also the former UFC featherweight champion but lost her belt to Amanda Nunes at UFC 232. After that, she was expected to face Nunes in an immediate rematch, but negotiations never materialized and she went on to fight Felicia Spencer instead at UFC 240.

Cyborg will face SBG Ireland’s Kavanagh, who is coming off of back-to-back victories over Katharina Lehner and Olga Rubin. Cyborg most recently defeated Leslie Smith in a rematch at Bellator 259.

Aside from Cyborg vs. Kavanagh, no other fights have been formally announced by Bellator for the upcoming Bellator 271 event, but that could change in the coming weeks.

Cyborg is also the one and only ‘Grand Slam Champion’ with title reigns in four different organizations. She holds 20 wins against top fighters such as Holly Holm, Gina Carano, and Julia Budd.

The fight announcement comes just days after women’s featherweight contender Leah McCourt earned an impressive win over Jessica Borga at Bellator 267. She is more than likely next in line for the belt, but couldn’t make the quick turnaround against Cyborg.

Cyborg will have the chance to defend her belt once again and solidify herself further as one of the most dominant fighters in MMA history, regardless of gender.

What are your thoughts on Cris Cyborg’s next fight against Sinead Kavanagh?

Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire makes his much-anticipated return to the Bellator cage this Friday. Following his brother, Patricio‘s recent win over Emmanuel Sanchez, Patricky is looking to make it 2-0 for the Pitbull brothers in 2021. His opponent is Irish knockout artist Peter Queally.

There has been a long running rivalry between the Pitbull brothers gym and SBG Ireland, the gym of Queally, James Gallagher and Conor McGregor.

Patricky recently sat down with Lowkick MMA’s Frank Bonada to discuss the animosity between himself and Queally.

“First he started talking a lot of sh*t… He came to attack us but he wasn’t a Bellator fighter back then,” Freire said. “So I told him I would give him a chance to put his money where his mouth was, and got him the job at Bellator. Which I did, I asked Bellator to hire him. And they did.

So he has to be very thankful to me. For being granted this opportunity in a big organisation, getting big money and a big promotion in his home country. He could even pay me a little bit of his (fight) purse amount because I’m pretty much his manager. But I’m gonna do what he was looking for, I’m gonna beat him up.”

Patricky only sees this fight going one way, and will look to emulate his brother’s victory over another SBG fighter in Pedro Carvalho. He stated the following:

My camp was very good. I feel very good, like a young lion. One year I don’t fight so I’m very hungry. I’m very excited to fight.”

“He talks too much… I will finish him. Easy. Like my brother make with Carvalho. Inside the second round, I’m sure.”

Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire will face off against Peter Queally on Friday the 7th of May. The fight is on the main card of Bellator 258, along with other fan favourite fighters such as Michael Page, Sergio Pettis, Juan Archuleta and Anthony Johnson.

Pitbull Brothers

Dual-weight Bellator champion Patricio Freire has got into an online spat with UFC featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski as the pair hype up a possible cross-promotion fight.

The beef began with Freire responding to UFC president Dana White’s disregard for the talent possessed by Bellator. ‘Pitbull’ took to social media to bet White he would be able to take out his current 145lb and 155lb champions, he wrote.

“Hi @danawhite I’m the one who destroyed steroids machine @MikeChandlerMMA, whom you said deserves a talk, in 61 seconds. If you send some of your top fighters to @BellatorMMA I can do the same to them too. Let’s bet like you did with PRIDE.”

Volkanovski saw the proposal from ‘Pitbull’ and advised his boss to accept the bet and allow him to make some easy money.

Easiest money you will ever make @danawhite, let’s make it happen,” Volkanovski wrote.

Freire took aim at Volkanovski in a couple of tweet. ‘Pitbull’ threatened to knock out and hospitalize ‘The Great’ while also insinuating his rival should have lost the featherweight title to Max Holloway at UFC 251, he wrote.

“I’ll remember those words after I knock you out. Put your money where your mouth is @danawhite @ufc. Let’s go @ScottCoker @BellatorMMA@alexvolkanovski

“just so u know U are fighting Pitbull the fighter not the rapper. I’m glad u recovered from ur cauliflower pussy. @danawhite it wud be my pleasure 2take ur $, I’ll even pay 4 Alex The Average’s hospital bills. It wud B an Honor to wear Max Holloway’s Belt. #LFG

It wasn’t long before Patricky Freire jumped in and offered to fight Dan Hooker on the same card his brother fights Volkanovski.

I’ll put @ufc@danthehangmanin the hospital bed right beside @alexvolkanovski. Anyway Dan, it’s nice to see the pride of Australia…Crocodile Duck-me, Freire wrote.

Hooker seemed uninterested in fighting Patricky and joked about his would-be opponents height in his reply, he wrote.

“What are the rules for our fight? Are you going to stand on a chair or do I fight from my knees?”

Bellator Lightweight Patricky Freire says he has a “surprise” in store for two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor at the upcoming Bellator Dublin card.

Freire is scheduled to take on McGregor’s teammate and close friend Peter Queally at the Bellator Dublin event on October 3rd. The card will feature several other members of Freire’s team taking on fighters from SBG Ireland, where McGregor and Queally both train out of with Coach John Kavanaugh.

McGregor has previously attended Bellator’s events in Dublin to support his teammates, and Freire believes the Irishman may be in the building for this card too.

If McGregor does attend, it sounds like Patricky Freire could have a surprise in store for him.

“I know Conor will be sitting in the front row, just like he was last time,” Freire told Bloody Elbow. “That does motivate me more. When I win this fight, I’ll have a surprise for him. There’s been some beef between me and Peter since the staredown in New York. Things got a little wild in the press conference. In fact, I was the one who started it. I attacked the SBG guys. This card that will happen in October will be Pitbull Brothers vs. SBG. One of those SBG guys, James Gallagher, he talks too much.”

“He’s always messing with me and my brother.” Patricky continued, expanding on his issues with McGregor and his team. “I told him to stop messing with me, I’m two weight classes above him. I told him he was always running away from a guy from my gym. When I said that, things got wild. He’s always running away from Leandro Higo, I want Bellator to make that fight happen. I don’t know why it’s not booked for that card yet. I don’t know if he’s ducking Higo. If he took that fight, there would be a big chance of Gallagher losing.”

When Freire steps into the Bellator cage with the McGregor stablemate, Queally, he seems to be confident in his ability to have his way with him,

“I’m absolutely sure I’ll knock him out,” he said. “I’m not saying this because I underestimate him, it’s because of the moment I’m at right now. I’m very confident in my evolution as a fighter. I’m doing everything to evolve and I know I am. Everyone at the gym tells me that. My results speak for themselves.”

Certainly some interesting words from Freire here. Do you think Conor McGregor will be at Bellator Dublin? How do you foresee this situation playing out?
