Following the withdrawal of former two-weight champion, Henry Cejudo from a scheduled UFC 292 return in August, fan-favorite bantamweight contender, Marlon Vera is targeted to remain on the Boston, Massachusetts card – with a pairing against Brazilian veteran, Pedro Munhoz currently in the works.

As per an initial report from Marlon Vera’s management firm, Iridium Sports Agency, the Ecuadorian is currently targeted to face the current number ten ranked contender, Munhoz, with verbal agreements in place between the duo to share the Octagon at UFC 292 on August 19. at the TD Garden.

Marlon Vera currently targeted to make second walk of the year in fight with Pedro Munhoz

“Our man @chitoveraUFC goes for his 15th @ufc victory vs. Pedro Munhoz on Aug. 19.”

Sidelined from the Octagon since he headlined UFC Fight Night San Antonio back in March, surging bantamweight contender, Marlon Vera saw his impressive four-fight winning run come to an end, suffering a one-sided, split decision loss to one-time interim bantamweight title challenger, Cory Sandhagen in ‘The Lone Star State’.

As for Munhoz, the veteran turned in a unanimous decision win over Chris Gutierrez at UFC Fight Night Kansas City back in April, scoring his first victory since landing a rematch triumph over promotional alum, Jimmie Rivera back in 2021.

Prior to his decision loss to Colorado favorite, Sandhagen earlier this year, Vera had turned in four consecutive victories, landing a pair of decision wins over both Davey Grant and Rob Font, before stopping former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar with a front kick KO, before then stopping former two-time bantamweight best, Dominick Cruz with a high kick knockout in a UFC Fight Night San Diego main event.

Over the course of his Octagon tenure, Vera has turned in other notable victories over the likes of Brad Pickett, and Brian Kelleher, as well as handing UFC 292 headliner and incoming bantamweight title challenger, Sean O’Malley his sole professional loss, with a first round slew of ground strikes for a TKO finish back in 2020.

Former WEC and UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, said there was still a UFC run left in him if he didn’t retire.

During the UFC 283 broadcast, it was announced that Aldo would be inducted into the UFC’s hall of fame later this year. This comes after a long, illustrious career that saw him take on the best the sport had to offer across two weight classes spanning two weight classes, from his WEC debut in 2008 to his retirement last year.

Jose Aldo ‘flattered’ by news of UFC Hall of Fame induction

The announcement was made in front of Aldo’s home crowd in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the 36-year-old was brought to tears as the video package was played. Talking to assembled media about the news of his UFC Hall of Fame induction this summer, Aldo expressed his gratitude for the honour.

“I was flattered,” Aldo said at the press conference. “I was not expecting it. I had no idea. It just brought it home. I was raised here. I was (called) the ‘King of Rio.’ I’ve got nothing but gratitude to the UFC and all the fighters who sent a message to me (in the video package). I’m flattered.”

Aldo is set to make his boxing debut on February 10., but said he could continue to fight in the UFC, even make a run for the title.

“I think if I carried on, I could have developed and had a good run for the belt,” Aldo said. “But I think it was time to end the career. I was very happy with the streak and the run that I had (at bantamweight).” (H/T MMAJunkie)

Aldo was on an impressive three-fight win streak over Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz and Rob Font before meeting Merab Dvalishvili in his final fight.

Aldo is undoubtedly one of the greatest to ever compete in the sport, at one point being on a 10-year undefeated streak, holding wins of names such as Frankie Edgar, Chan Sung Jung, Chad Mendes and Urijah Faber.

Sean O’Malley has bee accused of being a”meth head” by former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo.

O’Malley and Cejudo have been going back and forth with each other, both in person and on social media. In their most recent argument they had, O’Malley called Cejudo “fat” and clearly not in fighting shape. The two decided to take it to Twitter and Henry Cejudo had quite possibly he best joke he has ever made. ‘Triple C’ called O’Malley ‘Ronald Methdonald’.

O’Malley brought the ‘beef’ to Twitter first, asking if September 10th was too early for Cejudo.

“Sept 10th to soon fat ass or you all talk @henry. Can’t find his twitter someone tag please” O’Malley tweeted

Cejudo countered with: “Lol Ronald Methdonald got his feeling hurt. He doesn’t want to die! I’m Eligible in October per USDA. Plus I have to lose some of this Mexican fat. Ps make sure the Virgin boyz are in front row to witness the assassination. I love paperview point”

It’s quite obvious that Cejudo’s comeback was making fun of O’Malley’s build, not literally calling him a meth addict. It is important to point out that O’Malley grew up in the Montana, where his dad was a police officer. He had touched on that before in an interview with Theo Von a few years back.

Sean O’Malley is coming off an unfortunate turn of events at UFC 276 and is looking to get back in action quickly

O’Malley’s fight against Pedro Munhoz was unfortunately stopped due to an accidental eye poke. The bout was ruled a ‘no contest’ in the middle of the second round, just as things started to heat up. Both men didn’t land much and O’Malley could obviously get back in action fairly soon, due to the fact that he was mostly kicked and didn’t sustain damage to the head. Munhoz on the other hand, may have to wait a little bit longer due to his cornea that was scratched.

UFC bantamweight contender, Pedro Munhoz has criticized surging division challenger, Sean O’Malley for his handling of last weekend’s UFC 276 official ‘No Contest’ – after the Montana native landed a second round eye poke, with Munhoz suffering a corneal abrasion as a result.

Opening the main card of UFC 276 last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada during International Fight Week, Munhoz’s matchup against O’Malley ended in an official ‘No Contest’ almost midway through the second frame, after the latter landed an inadvertent eye poke to Munhoz’s right eye, resulting in acute pain and an abrasion to his right cornea.

Earlier in the first round, Munhoz – who had taken the opening round on all three judges’ scorecards against O’Malley, also required a stoppage in the action after he found himself on the receiving end of another unintentional foul – this time a groin strike after a misplaced front kick to the body from O’Malley.

Pedro Munhoz questioned why Sean O’Malley mocked his eye injury at UFC 276

Following the official ‘No Contest’, O’Malley celebrated in the Octagon with his usual basketball-themed celebration, before embracing Munhoz, and raising his arm in victory during his reading of the official result.

Taking umbrage with O’Malley’s post-fight comments and how he handled the situation, Munhoz questioned why the Dana White’s Contender Series alum firstly embraced him before changing his proverbial tune.

“A lot of his actions after the fight, are things that I don’t think are right, based on my values,” Pedro Munhoz said of Sean O’Malley on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. “Like, he came and aplogized, and then make a video on Tik Tok making fun of me. So you apologize to me for poking me – because he realized, he came up to me and said, ‘I didn’t mean to poke me in the eye.’… I tell my kids not to do it, you know, like you say one thing, and then you go make fun.”

“All his friends, all these guys texting me, talking about my wife, talking about my family, saying they’re gonna fight me,” Pedro Munhoz said. “And guess what, to them I say, you can come find me, Sunday, I’ll be at the pool all day, a few of them walked by, but they’re gangster computers, Ariel. …”
