After one season on TBS Dana White’s Power Slap League will not be returning for a second season. TBS did not ask for a renewal of the series after the season finale had aired on March 8. The Power Slap display will now move to the app Rumble.

UFC president Dana White sounds very proud to be putting his Power Slap League on the app Rumble. In an interview with The Pat McAfee Show, White said:

“I’ve come to a two-year deal for [Power Slap]. We haven’t done the deal yet but we have a term sheet. I have a term sheet with Rumble for the next two years to deliver two more episodes of the reality show, Power Slap, and eight live fights, and I’m working on a deal right now to film season 2 on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting]

Dana White’s Power Slap League ratings for season 1

On TBS, Dana White’s Power Slap League in season 1 had less than impressive ratings. The season finale was able to pull 220,000 viewers which is a 0.05 rating in its target demographic.

International media have not been impressed with the show citing how dangerous it is to a person’s brain health. Reading comments on any social media post, MMA fans were not more receptive often stating how it is not a sport.

In the end, Dana White was proud of his ratings and what he had produced. During a press conference, he said:

“There was a lot of criticism about the TV ratings. People are so full of s— it’s f—ing — first off, what do any of these people know about TV ratings, number one. And like I told ya, the thing averaged 375,000 viewers on TBS with zero advertising from the network. Zero. We held 50 percent of the AEW (All Elite Wrestling) audience.” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Mania]

UFC boss Dana White dismisses claims that he focuses too much on Power Slap League: ‘Shut the f*ck up’

Dana White has recently taken heat because of his apparent focus on the Power Slap League over the promotion of UFC fights.

On Saturday March 11. — UFC Las Vegas was held at The Theater at Virgin Hotels rather than the UFC Apex facility because it was being used for the Power Slap season 1 finale event. While many appreciated the refreshing feel of a new venue, it was still odd to see Power Slap get the nod at the Apex over the UFC event.

While Power Slap hasn’t exactly been an instant hit in the ratings, the numbers online aren’t terrible. According to stats on Rumble, the Power Slap Finale reportedly amassed 2.1 million views. And according to the boss himself, the other social media numbers are trending in the right direction for Power Slap.

On the growth of Power Slap, Dana White commented:

“Think about this: this thing is eight weeks old. This didn’t exist 8 weeks ago. Didn’t exist! The social media channels for it didn’t exist, none of this existed. We’re over a billion views on TikTok alone. On Instagram, we did like 38.5 million views a week. And online on Rumble, the whole season did 15 million views globally…”

“These are obviously massive numbers, and it proves that this thing — like the UFC — is global… The social and streaming numbers are just f—ing nuts. The worst Power Slap post of the day did better than the best UFC post on UFC’s social. Yeah, this thing’s a f—ing monster, man.” – (Transcribed MMA Mania)

Dana White denies that he is spending too much time on Power Slap League

Despite the fact that White tweeted about the Power Slap event literally during Saturday’s UFC headliner, the boss doesn’t see this is a problem. While seated in front of a Power Slap banner at the joint Power Slap/UFC Las Vegas press conference, Dana White dismissed notions that he spends too much time on his new venture:

“Do I even really need to answer that question?” Dana White said. “I mean, come on. Anybody that wants to talk s— can come up with anything. I say this all the time: people have no idea what I really do and don’t do, and they don’t know anything about this business. Nobody. Nobody knows anything about this business. If they did, they’d be doing what we do…”

“Tonight was a sell-out over at … at, you know, the Virgin. What else would you people like me to do? If we weren’t selling tickets, weren’t putting on fights people wanted to see, sponsorship is though the f—ing roof, and the list goes on and on, maybe you’d have something… Shut the f— up and mind you business,” White concluded. “That’s what I have to say about it, now that I think about it. That’s what I’ll say.”

Dana White Power Slap League UFC Criticizm

Ahead of UFC 285 this weekend, promotional president, Dana White has claimed that the media coverage of Power Slap League – which is backed by the long-time UFC leader, is solely due to the industry’s issue with him, rather than the actual organization.

White, who backed the creation of Power Slap League alongside former UFC CEO, Lorenzo Fertitta, has drawn much criticizm for the product on display in the reality television show, in which combatants are slapped with an open palm, often resulting in brutal knockouts, with opponents unable to defend themselves from strikes traditionally.

Dana White claims his involvement has led to criticizm for Power Slap League

With medical experts and those within the mixed martial arts community questioning the long-term health effects from competing in slap fighting, as well as questioning the product on display under the banner of the TBS Network, White claims the media’s gripe with Power Slap League come from his involvement.

Everything that’s negative that’s being said about it (Power Slap League) it is an attack on me,” Dana White said during an appearance on Bussin’ with the Boys. “It’s me that these guys are attacking – it’s not the actual slapping. The media, it’s all about me. Okay? They want to f*ck me. That’s why they’re saying what they’re saying about slap.

This sh*t was going on – this has been on the internet since – 2017 is when I first saw it,” Dana White explained. “There’s 350,000,000 views but I’m the only f*cking guy who has seen it? There’s no stories written, there’s no ‘Oh my God, this is horrible, how’s this on social media? Children are watching this.’ This has been going on since f*cking – well, I noticed it in 2017. It could have been before that for all I know. But now it’s horrible and it’s a tragedy and it needs to go away.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Set to release another documentary targeted at the media, White was criticized at the beginning of the year after footage was released displaying the long-time UFC president slapping his wife, Anne White, during an altercation at a nightclub on New Year’s Eve during a family vacation. White managed to escape punishment for his actions, with UFC parent company, Endeavor declining to comment on the incident.
