The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced a bantamweight battle between two of the division’s elite in Eddie Wineland and Joseph Benavidez for UFC Live 5 on August 14.

The event’s main card takes place inside the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will be broadcast live on Versus television.

Benavidez (14-2) has lost only to current UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz by decision. Following a unanimous decision win for Cruz in their first meeting, their second brought about a split decision that led Cruz to take the title from around the waist of Benavidez.

Since that defeat, the Team Alpha Male fighter has defeated Wagnney Fabiano and Ian Loveland. Benavidez trains with Urijah Faber at Team Alpha Male.

Wineland (18-7-1) is coming off a defeat at the hands of Faber by decision. The loss snapped a four-fight winning streak for the former World Extreme Cagefighting champion.

Other fights scheduled for UFC Live 5 include Ben Henderson meeting Jim Miller in a lightweight tilt, and Dan Hardy taking on Chris Lytle in a welterweight contest.

UFC 130 Fight Card: Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson Dance off with the Techno Viking

UFC 130 is set to take place on Saturday, May 28 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event on the card will feature a light heavyweight battle between former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill. The co-main event will be a heavyweight showdown between two highly ranked fighters, former UFC champion Frank Mir and Roy “Big Country” Nelson.

The UFC has posted a promotional video for UFC 130 on their YouTube page of a mash-up of the infamous “Techno-Viking” (who some say is Keith Jardine’s doppelganger) viral video and a dancing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

There is no indication if this is a practice run for a possible Jackson victory dance if he defeats Hamill on Saturday night, but the video is a much more lighthearted promotional tool from the UFC.

On another note, Jackson may want to think about getting a new bunch of friends after seeing how they toss his lost shoe back at him at the end of the video.

Recently promoted to the main event of UFC 130, a fight between Quinton Jackson and Matt Hamill has drawn some heat for its lack of appeal as a feature fight.

Traditionally, the UFC has done an excellent job of putting together fights that the fans want to see.

However, sometimes injuries and limited options can put the organization in a rough spot when it comes to matchmaking.

As was the case for UFC 130 when a title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard was cancelled due to injuries to both fighters.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Hodges:

With only a few days left before his main event bout with Matt Hamill at UFC 130, UFC light heavyweight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson spent some time to shed some light on his opponent.

Jackson appeared on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” last night to promote the event and he said he is focused and motivated to compete this weekend.

When asked on a prediction for the bout, Jackson said he would prefer to end it quickly as possible.

“I’m not sure, actually I’m hoping to end it fast,” Jackson told Ferguson.

Jackson joked that after a long and grueling training camp, he hopes to go to his after-party to drink and celebrate his victory.

While he is known for his humorous and colorful personality, Jackson is a motivated and serious competitor inside the Octagon. Since his debut, Jackson is 9-2 in the UFC and is one of the few successful fighters to cross over from Pride FC. A former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jackson has picked up victories over such fighters as: Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva.

It’s the summer where the often maligned UFC heavyweights get to strut thier stuff as we have back-to-back events where the heavyweights are the co-main and main attraction.

First thing is first, and at UFC 130 on Saturday night, we will see two of the top 10 collide with Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson. In my opinion, these two are top of the food chain, and this is a battle to determine who will be in line for a title shot soon.

This is an intriguing matchup between two savvy, experienced and hungry fighters, and to me, will be the bout that carries the card.

Here is my head-to-toe breakdown of Mir vs. Nelson.
