According to a report, Conor McGregor will soon be able to take “whiskey mogul” off his business cards.

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey was launched in September 2018 by Eire Born Spirits, a company founded by McGregor and Audie Attar. It has since gained a substantial foothold in the global market, being worth an estimated $200 million. However, according to a recent press release from Becle, McGregor’s time with the company may be coming to an end. The release states: “On February 23, 2021, the Company provided notice of the exercise of its call option to acquire 51% of the equity interests of EBS.”

Becle initially held a 20% stake in the company before increasing it to 49%. It now appears they have bought out the remaining 51%, giving them full control of the company. While McGregor could potentially stay on as a spokesperson for the brand, it looks like his time as business partner is done.

With his venture into the whiskey business coming to an end, McGregor can now give his full attention towards returning to the octagon. ‘The Notorious’ is coming off a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. That fight was his first in a year, and only his fourth in the last five years. After the fight, McGregor blamed his inactivity for his performance, and said he hoped to fight three times this year. A trilogy fight against Poirier has been rumored for sometime in the summer, and according to an Instagram post last month, is what McGregor is anticipating (H/T BJPenn).

“I am most certainly on the right path,” McGregor wrote in the post. “Despite the loss I am on the correct path of evolution. Thoughts on the bout: I enjoyed racking up some more time inside the famed UFC Octagon. 40 seconds in 3 years is all I’d had up to this bout. I was savouring very second and enjoying my work. A little single disciplined in my approach and stance with mostly boxing. It’s what I get for picking this bout and opponent as a precursor to a boxing match against Pacman. I deserved to get the legs kicked off me going in with this thinking. This is not the game to play around with.

“Besides this tho my shots where sharp and I was in full control,” McGregor added. “Albeit the leg attacks where building up on me throughout the course. 18 in total thrown at me, with the final one buckling my leg fully, that was that. The peroneal nerve compromised. Fascinating! First time to experience it. Then a tremendous finishing flurry by my opponent. Hats off! A well fought fight by The Diamond. 1 a piece now with a Trilogy bout for all the marbles! Wow! Exciting! Not a trilogy I was expecting, nor the tactical affair I was anticipating, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t meant to be. This is exactly how this was always meant to be! Buzzing!!”

Will being bought out of Proper No. Twelve be a good thing for Conor McGregor’s MMA career?

Conor McGregor Won’t Drink Proper Twelve With Khabib Or Mayweather

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor doesn’t want to drink any of his Proper Twelve whiskey with either Floyd Mayweather or Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The post Conor McGregor Won’t Drink Proper Twelve With Khabib Or Mayweather appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Conor McGregor has no interest in sharing a swig of his Proper Twelve whiskey with Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Both men are the latest to have defeated the Irishman in combat sports competition. McGregor fought Mayweather inside the boxing ring last year, and was defeated via 10th round TKO. “Mystic Mac” returned to the Octagon at UFC 229 to challenge Khabib for the UFC lightweight title.

“The Eagle” submitted McGregor in the fourth round via neck crank. Despite the setbacks, McGregor seems eager to get right back into the Octagon again. Whether that’s an immediate rematch with Khabib, or another fight, remains to be seen.

In the meantime, McGregor is currently busy promoting his new whiskey endeavor. Speaking with Entrepreneur.com, McGregor was asked which of his former opponents, Mayweather or Khabib, would he share a drink of his Proper 12 whiskey with. McGregor’s response? Neither:

“To be honest, neither,” McGregor said. “I drink Proper No. Twelve with those close to me. My friends and family and those I grew up with, that is whom I like to sit and have a glass of Proper whiskey with.

“I also love to enjoy it with customers and consumers in bars. That has been even more fun than I expected.”

McGregor then explained the decision behind releasing his own brand of whiskey:

“The decision to make my own Irish whiskey was very natural, almost inevitable,” McGregor said. “I’ve always loved Irish whiskey — I’m an Irishman after all. My late grandfather played a huge role in my taste for Irish whiskey.

“It was under his tutelage I began to study and truly appreciate whiskey. Over the years, I’ve been approached by many Irish whiskey brands asking me to endorse their product.

“I have nothing against endorsement deals; I have several with brands and products I believe in, that is no secret. However, something about simply endorsing an Irish whiskey didn’t feel right to me — I wanted to create my own, I wanted to do it my way and I wanted to do it right — from start to finish.

“I love Ireland, its land and its people, I was born here, will raise my children here, and I will die here. I wanted to make an Irish whiskey emblematic of our culture as a whole — something that would make my people proud.”

Conor McGregor’s new whiskey Proper Twelve has set sales & buy records despite the many terrible reviews.

It’s fair to say McGregor has a few fans – he has over 30 million Instagram followers alone. So when he announced his new Irish Whiskey brand Proper Twelve, you can imagine a couple of his fans ran out to purchase the spirits.

The man himself posted a thank-you to all his fans that bought it,  claiming the liquor had set the ‘sales’ and ‘buy’ record on IG:

Personally, I never acquired a taste for whiskey, so I couldn’t tell you a “good” one from a “bad” one.

Vicious Reviews

However, there are plenty of individuals who have acquired such a taste, and fortunately for us, many of them have indulged in McGregor’s new whiskey.

Brin-Jonathan Butler at Bloomberg was incredibly blunt:

“Further tasting notes from my informal panel included “watered-down,” “obviously artificially colored,” and “notes of turpentine interlaced with the musk from a crowded, poorly-maintained Turkish bathhouse sauna.”

Alan Dawson at Business Insider was brutally honest:

“It smelled like ethanol and tasted only marginally better,” our fintech guru Oscar Williams-Grut said. “A small initial sip was deceptively okay, but subsequent snifters were like vanilla flavoring trying to cover up rubbing alcohol.”

Matt Healy at Potstilled thinks the glass bottle is cheap:

“My immediate concern with this product is the glass … has an incredibly strange and slippy texture and ended up with a strange gloss finish to it, making the whole bottle look weird from afar. Rubbing your fingers across the front label reveals crackling and popping of air bubbles below the label that do not go away. The packaging feels cheap and sub-premium as a whole. Very strange for something trading on reputation rather than price.”

It will be interesting to see if Proper No. 12 can stand the test of time. If McGregor wants to reach that billion-dollar mark, he will need more than his fight checks.

Despite the terrible reviews, Proper Twelve is well on its way to getting him there.

We are midway through the biggest fight week in MMA history.

UFC 229 is just days away but does it feel like it should be bigger? Does it feel like it should have been promoted differently?

UFC President Dana White has gone on the record and stated this is the biggest fight in the promotion’s history. The outspoken executive is predicting a record-demolishing three million PPV buys. Many other media outlets have echoed that very sentiment, albeit to a lesser extent. Any time you have the sport’s most recognizable star coming back after a two-year hiatus, it’s going to make headlines, and for good reason.

But honestly, doesn’t it feel like UFC 229 should be bigger than it has been thus far? We here at LowkickMMA think so, and that’s why we broke down six ways the UFC could have perhaps promoted the event better.

Check them out here:

Dana White Overestimated McGregor’s Appeal

Is it possible that White was wrongly banking on Conor McGregor and the entire country of Ireland?

We all know that the Irish fans travel well, probably better than just about any other group of people. Especially McGregor’s crazy passionate fans. I’m sure there will be a massive cheering section at the sold-out T-Mobile Arena for one Conor McGregor, but how many of those fans will be from the Emerald Isle across the pond?

McGregor’s appeal may have taken a big blow as it came to the casual fan when he tried his hand at the sweeter science of combat sports. His loss to Floyd Mayweather isn’t going to sway his believers. When all is said and done, UFC 229 will probably do monster numbers.

But you can only wonder what Conor’s appeal would be if he were the 1 in 50-1.

Conor McGregor says his new whiskey gets you admission to the UFC 229 press conference.

McGregor has been out of the limelight as of late. Perhaps some of that was the Irishman’s way of staying out of trouble. Or perhaps McGregor has been busy doing other things. Either way, fans have been clamoring for the moment when the former champ-champ will finally be face to face with the undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

We are now less than a month away from UFC 229 otherwise known as Conor vs. Khabib. And although UFC President Dana White had previously stated that there would not be a touring promotional blitz ala the McGregor/Mayweather circus, the first press conference for UFC 229 is set to go down this Thursday in New York City.

The press conference is not open to the public. Instead only credentialed UFC media will be in attendance. However, fight fans in New York will be able to attend a UFC-hosted watch party at Times Square.

As always McGregor is playing by his own rules. Earlier this week he unveiled his new “Proper Twelve” Irish whiskey brand and boy is he pushing it.

McGregor took to Twitter earlier today (Sept. 18, 2018) and boy did he tease his own guidelines for public admission into the event at Radio City Music Hall.

For all the slack McGregor gets it’s important to note he plans on donating up to $1 million per year of the proceeds of the whiskey at $5 per case to first responder organizations and charities, per GQ.

McGregor makes his long-awaited return to the octagon against Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 229 on Oct. 6 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
