UFC light heavyweight title holder Jon ‘Bones’ Jones (17-1) has his next fight lined up against former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen, with the two coaching opposite one another on season 17 of The “Ultimate Fighter” before meeting in the spring.
Even with that title defense in mind, Jones is already thinking past that and tells USAToday.com that he wants to hold his belt as well as the heavyweight strap, “I want it all.”
“Because things have been going so well, right now it’s about not putting limits on anything and realizing the sky is the limit,” Jones told USA TODAY Sports in an exclusive interview. “Really, I want everything, and I’ve said that since day one. I want to be the best. I want to be a record-holder in everything. I want to be a heavyweight champion and a light-heavyweight champion. I want it all.”
Jones goes on to say that he’s ready to tackle that challenge now as he feels it’s the right time to do so.
Certainly UFC execs will look at this statement as a money maker with another of their champions willing to compete in a “Super Fight” in another division. Much like middleweight title holder Anderson Silva did recently at UFC 153 by finishing Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight bout.

Fans who tuned in to watch the live World Series of Fighting 1 prelim video stream at Sherdog.com on Saturday (Nov. 3, 2012) night were certainly disappointed when the live broadcast cut out with two fights remaining on the undercard.
Fans who may have missed some of the earlier fights may have been pleased as the prelim card was rebroadcasted, but it still left the rest of the hard-core world wondering what had happened.
Following the WSOF event, promotion president Ray Sefo explained the situation noting that the live stream was stopped after a request by NBC Sports who wanted to have pre-taped fights on hand if there was an issue with the live television broadcast.
“NBC had the rights to the fights and that’s how they wanted to do it,” said WSOF president Ray Sefo. “I’m sorry if any fans were expecting to see the whole undercard. This was our first time through and we’re working to make it better every time out.”
WSOF 1 took place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and is likely to be the same venue for the promotions second event when they return to Las Vegas on January 26 for WSOF 2.

Almost one year ago, the Ultimate Fighting Championship was set to make it’s debut on FOX television with the UFC on FOX 1 event.
There was plenty of hype around the event with heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez defending his title versus Junior dos Santos and for the co-main event lightweights in Benson Henderson versus Clay Guida.
Fans got to watch all sixty-four seconds of the Dos Santos victory but many did not get to see the exciting Henderson vs. Guida battle.
It was a disappointing situation for Henderson but he moved on and has become the 155-lbs champion for the UFC and is not set to headline his own FOX event versus Nate Diaz.
“It’s definitely cool. I like that we are the main event and that especially from the first Fox card, I was very sad about that. I didn’t complain; I didn’t say anything. I was like cool, I’m not going to be shown on Fox; alright, sounds good. I’m not going to throw a hissy fit; it is what it is. I’m a company guy and if that’s what it is, that’s what it is,” said Henderson.
“Now it’s nice to be redeemed and be the main event.”
UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz is expected to take place on December 8, 2012 at KeyArena in Seattle, Washington.

Former WEC bantamweight champ, and UFC fighter, Miguel Torres (40-5) is looking to get his career back on track when he returns to action next weekend when he faces opponent Marlon Moraes on the NBC Sports broadcasted World Series of Fighting 1 event.
Torres saw his journey with the worlds top promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, end this past April after a knockout loss versus Michael McDonald at UFC 145. He was released by the promotion shortly after the defeat. Previous to that in December 2011, Torres was cut after a controversial Tweet but made amends and was welcomed back three weeks later by promotion president Dana White.
With all of that behind him now, Torres is ready to open the next chapter of his life and is looking “to get back on track” on November 3, 2012 in Las Vegas.
Torres spoke to MMAWeekly.com recently about his release and the inaugural WSOF event.
“Going back to November, it was a big blow,” said Torres. “I went through a lot to get back into the UFC, got back in and lost the fight. I didn’t follow the game plan and went out there and got caught with a punch and I got (released) again.
“The biggest thing for me to get back on track is to get stable.”
“It’s an exciting feeling to start in a new league and kind of have a homecoming fighting on the NBC Sports Network (where the WEC was broadcasted on during the channel’s Versus branding) and fight on a card with guys like Andrei Arlovski,” said Torres.
Torres is 1-2 in his last three bouts but is 3-2 in his last five. The former WEC 135-lbs title holder earned his last victory in November 2011 at UFC 139 in a 141-lbs catchweight bout versus Nick Pace. Torres dominated the fight on his way to a unanimous decision by scores of 30-27 across the board from all three judges.

Phil 'Mr. Wonderful' Davis
UFC light heavyweight Phil ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Davis (10-1, 1NC) earned an impressive victory over Wagner Prado earlier this month in Brazil at UFC 153. Davis utilized an anaconda choke to force the tap at 4:29 of the second round of the Rio de Janeiro event.
Following his win, Davis had been looking to take some time off so he could get “fat” but instead took a fight with former UFC light heavyweight champ Forrest Griffin. ‘Mr. Wonderful’ stepped in as a replacement for Chael Sonnen who steps up to coach opposite division champ Jon Jones in the new year.
Davis called in to the Sportsnet ’590 The Fan’ during the UFC Central program this past Thursday, to talk about his recent win versus Prado in Brazil as well as his thoughts on his upcoming fight with Griffin.
“They contacted me about fighting Forrest (Griffin). Actually when I got off the plane from Brazil. I stayed in Brazil a couple of extra days. As soon as I got off the plane from Brazil, turned on my phone for the first time in two weeks…I get a ton of text messages. I’m going through my text messages and whenever you get sixty messages at once you have to go through the important ones first. I went to family. Typed all the ones to my management.”
“As soon as I got text messaged back from my management, I’m like ‘Oh crap, I have a fight in two months. I have to get back in shape.’ Not that I’m not in good shape but I have to stay in shape. I can’t get fat. I’m looking forward to getting fat, you know what I’m saying?”
“….Yeah, as soon as I got off the plane I got the text message to fight Forrest. Obviously he is a former champion. Well known inside the sport and out. It’s just an honor to fight him. I said ‘absolutely.’”
When one talks about Forrest Griffin, one is certain to think of Stephan Bonnar after both men’s epic battle in the final of the first ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’
Both fighters possess similar styles, and Davis was asked his thoughts on battling someone with their mentality.
“I’d rather not go three rounds with a guy like that. He just keeps going you know. Exactly, exactly. He is just like a Stephan Bonnar. Those guys, they get bloodied up and ‘alright I’m ready to do this thing.’ I don’t really get it but that’s how they roll. You know, I like that know that a guys not going to be scared of you but he’s going to pressure you. That to me, that brings out the best of me. That brings out the fight in my game.”
“Sometimes when you face a guy who just wants to pick you apart with one strike here and there, it slows down the pace a lot. I want a fast paced fight. I want a ‘Fight of the Night’ you know.”
“I look forward to it, it should be awesome.”
Davis is 1-1 (1NC) in his last three fights, having beaten Prado in their rematch following a “No Contest” result after an accidental eye-poke at UFC on FOX 4 in August, and losing for the first time in his career to Rashad Evans by decision at UFC on FOX 2.
UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon (27-7) is certainly hoping that he’ll capture another “Fight Night” bonus this December when he steps into the Octagon versus former two-time title contender Gray ‘The Bully’ Maynard (11-1-1, 1NC) as part of the end year UFC 155 event. Joe Lauzon
Lauzon is certainly the underdog in this fight having seven losses on his record and no title bouts under his belt, compared to Maynard who has one loss and back-to-back shots at the 155-lbs strap.
For the eleven time “Fight Night” bonus winner, being the underdog is something Lauzon relishes and it’s a matchup that he “really, really likes.”
“Gray is tough, I mean you can’t put Gray down. He is one of the best athletes in the division for sure. He is really strong, good cardio athlete. He’s quick. He has great boxing and obviously great wrestling. Good jiu-jitsu to stay out of things. He is not great at finishing guys but no one has caught him either. He is just really, really tough.”
“But I think my style, I kind of have that spoiler style. I come out with things people aren’t expecting and I’ve done really well. I like when I am the underdog. I love it when I am the underdog. I think against Gray, I’m definitely (the underdog). He’s fought for the title a couple of times, while I haven’t. You have to look at him as the favorite but I really, really like the fight. I like the matchup.”
Lauzon was a guest on the Sirius XM Fight Club on Thursday talking about his upcoming matchup with ‘The Bully.’ Check that part of the interview by clicking the above link, and be sure to listen to Lauzon answer questions about comparing himself to returning welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, both of whom returned from serious knee injuries.
