In the main event of UFC 241, UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier puts his title on the line against Stipe Miocic.

Round 1:

Leg kick from Miocic to start things off as he circles around the Octagon. Cormier responds with one of his own. Another nice leg kick from “DC.” More leg kick exchanges. A nice jab and uppercut in the clinch lands for Cormier. Another pair of bangers connect for Cormier. Big shots from Cormier continues to land, and Miocic is lifted into the air and taken down.

Cormier into half guard now. Nice ground-and-pound for Cormier. Miocic gets a nice upkick, enters a scramble, but can’t quite get up. Big hammer fists from “DC.” Miocic gets up and the round is up.

Round 2:

Miocic lands a nice jab to start the round. Miocic with a knee to the body, and follows up with a kick. Miocic landing some nice shots now, but Cormier fires back with some nice shots. Cormier is putting together some nice combinations. Miocic connects on a nice right hand. Another big right-hand lands for Cormier. Another big combination connects for Cormier but Miocic is putting together some shots now.

Big shots being exchanged from both men. Cormier punches his way into a clinch. Miocic with dominant position and he separates to land a couple of nice combinations. Cormier connects with a big shot, and follows up with another. Very big shots landing from both men now. Cormier is connecting now, and Miocic looks wobbly. Cormier rocks Miocic now, but he’s still up. Kick to the body lands for Miocic. The round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Miocic connects with a hard combination. Miocic fails on a takedown attempt. Cormier is landing a nice jab but eats a right hand. A nice uppercut lands for Miocic inside the clinch against the cage. A spinning elbow just misses for Miocic to separate the clinch. Cormier lands a hard kick to the body.

Miocic with a nice combination now, but Cormier connects with an overhand. Miocic gets a takedown but Cormier is right back up. Cormier backs Miocic against the cage. A nice combination lands for Cormier that rocks Miocic. Cormier starts to pour it on but Miocic is firing back now. The round comes to an end.

Round 4:

Big jumping combination from Cormier to start the round. A nice left hook to the body connects for Miocic, and he lands it again. Another nice left hook connects to the body for Miocic. The body shots continue to connect for Miocic nicely. Cormier finally fires back with a hook Miocic’s consistent body shot is setting up all sorts of things. Miocic stuns Cormier, and puts him away in the corner. That’s it.

Next up is what many consider to be the people’s main event here tonight (Sat. August 17, 2019) at UFC 241. Nate Diaz takes on Anthony “Showtime” Pettis in the co-main event.

Round 1:

Diaz lands some nice clinch shots to open up. A nice front kick to the body backs Pettis up. A nice hook from Pettis backs Diaz up. Leg kick from Pettis. A nice combination lands for Pettis. Pettis lands some big shots on Diaz but Diaz clinches him up against the cage. They separate and Pettis rips off some big shots.

Another front kick to the body lands for Diaz. Pettis lands a nice combination that ends with a kick. Another clinch up for Diaz, but they separate and Diaz connects with a right hand. Diaz gets a takedown and Pettis goes for a guillotine. Diaz is into Pettis’ guard now and is landing some ground-and-pound. Nice transitions on the ground from Diaz, who takes the back and the round ends.

Round 2:

Pettis trips and Diaz walks forward and has him against the cage. A nice left-hand lands for Pettis. Diaz’s eye is bothering him and the referee stops it. A nice shot lands for Pettis but Diaz continues to walk forward. Diaz clinches up with Pettis against the cage but they separate quickly. Back clinch for Diaz, Pettis goes to the ground but gets back up. A knee to the head lands for Diaz and they’re still clinched against the cage. Another nice elbow from Diaz and Diaz is starting to turn the volume up. More nice knees from Diaz and he’s turning up the volume now. A few elbows land for Pettis but Diaz responds with a barrage.

Round 3:

Diaz immediately clinches up with Pettis against the cage. Pettis is fighting back but and circles out. Pettis now clinches Diaz against the cage but they separate again. Diaz now presses forward with shots. A beautiful combination from Diaz now vicious knees land for Diaz. Pettis drops and Diaz is swarming for ground-and-pound now. Pettis rolls over into Diaz’s guard.

Pettis trying to land some elbows now, stands up, but goes back down. A nice scramble for both men and now Diaz takes back side control again. Ground-and-pound for Diaz, he threatens the rear-naked choke, Pettis escapes and the fight is over.

Official Result: Nate Diaz def. Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

A low blow from Costa to Romero temporarily stops the action. Leg kicks land for Romero and he goes in for the takedown, but it’s stuffed. Costa pressing Romero against the cage now. Romero catches Costa with a hook but Costa continues to press forward. A lead hook lands for Romero and the round comes to an end.

Round 2:

Some nice hooks land for Costa and Romero responds with a nice uppercut in the clinch. Body kick lands for Costa. Leg kick connects for Costa and he follows up with a pair to the body. Costa connects with a pair of hooks. A nice jab connects for Costa. Romero lands a nice pair of jabs. Romero touching up Costa now. Costa just lands a nice overhand but Romero continues to press the action and throw volume. The round comes to an end with a Romero takedown.

Round 3:

Romero lands some nice shots in the clinch. Costa fires back with a nice straight hand but Romero lands a jab. A pair of body kicks land for Costa. An eye poke from Romero to Costa temporarily stops the action. Costa catches Romero with a hook. Romero responds with a jab. Romero with a nice combination now.

Costa responds with a hard combination. They’re mocking each other now. Romero putting landing some nice shots now. Costa lands a kick to the body. Romero gets a takedown but Costa is right to his feet as the horn sounds.

Official Result: Paulo Costa def. Yoel Romero via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

The heavyweight title is on the line in the main event, as Daniel Cormier defends his title against Stipe Miocic. “DC” actually took the title off Miocic in their initial meeting last summer via first-round knockout. Nate Diaz ends a three-year layoff in the co-main event, as he steps into the Octagon against former lightweight champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.

And at middleweight, heavy-handed knockout artists Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa go head-to-head in a fight that could very well determine the next challenger for the 185-pound title.
