Sarah Alpar is shocked by the amount of support she’s had since launching a GoFundMe page to help with the expenses for her next fight camp.

The flyweight fighter is set to face off against Erin Blanchfield on September 18. Ahead of the camp Alpar planned to moonlight as a barista to help pay the bills but everything has changed in recent days.

Alpar launched a GoFundMe with the aim of making $30,000 by the end of 2021. The 30-year-old had just expected friends and family to help out but things took a turn when YouTube star turned boxer, Jake Paul got wind of her struggles and donated $5000.

“I was just trying to get my friends and family and whoever else to kind of help me in an easy way, like donations,” Alpar told MMA Junkie. “Now it’s turned into this big, giant thing. It’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, wow.”

“I don’t know what to say,” Alpar added. “No one has ever done something like that for me before. And it was just so simple for him (Jake Paul). I don’t know. I’d say everything, all the things, and none of the things at all because I’m awkward. Like, ‘I’m just so grateful.’ And plus, ‘I can’t believe you found me’”.

Once the internet celebrity had put Alpar’s GoFundMe into the public eye it quickly got much more traction. A person named Lisa Ferguson donated $25,000 to the UFC fighter’s cause. Triller later claimed that the donation was made on behalf of them.

Alpar now has the capability to become a full-time fighter but is unsure if she’ll actually quit her barista gig after receiving such unexpected support from an unlikely source.

“I need to figure out now what the next step is here, because now I have opportunity,” Alpar said. “Do I just, like, quit and go two feet in and just do it and see if maybe it works? Will I have a backup plan? I always like to plan ahead. This is kind of just like, ‘Here it is.’ And then just get by by the seat of my pants. But I mean, if I have the opportunity to train full time to my fullest and to be able to travel where I need to and get training partners and to get better and to make that happen, I need to (figure out) what’s the best situation (or) scenario to do this? But I still want to be respectful to my position now because I have morals. You don’t just do stuff like that, you know?”

Do you think it’s time for Sarah Alpar to become a full-time fighter?

UFC women’s flyweight Sarah Alpar has reached her goal of $30,000 raised on her Go-Fund-Me page ahead of her next fight, thanks to Triller Fight Club’s $25,000 donation on Wednesday.

Alpar started a Go-Fund-Me campaign recently to help pay off training camp and living expenses leading up to her next fight against Erin Blanchfield in a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for Sept. 18. Alpar will compete in her second UFC fight since earning a contract on Dana White‘s Contender Series back in 2019.

Alpar posted a recent Instagram video in which she goes into detail behind why she created the campaign, raising awareness of the ongoing controversy surrounding UFC fighter pay compared to other promotions and sports. Triller spoke out in support of Alpar shortly after the campaign’s start and after they helped her reach her financial goal.

“We are honored to help Sarah as she continues her march towards becoming a world champion,” said Peter Kahn, Triller’s chief boxing officer in a statement. “Sarah and many underpaid UFC fighters are starting at a disadvantage when they have to work multiple other jobs while putting their bodies and brains through the most rigorous training one could imagine.”

“It’s sad to see such talented fighters making less than the UFC ring/round card girls.”

YouTuber and Boxer Jake Paul, who is slated to fight former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, also voiced his support for Alpar and UFC athletes who feel they’re not being fairly compensated.

Before her signing to the UFC, Alpar spent time in smaller promotions such as Legacy and Titan FC, among others. She is one of the many UFC prospects who are looking to make a name for themselves this year and hopefully create a long-term career in the sport.

UFC flyweight Sarah Alpar wants to focus on her fighting career full-time and needs your help to do it.

Alpar realizes the commitment she’ll need for a successful UFC career. Alpar knows that she needs to train full-time. But like many other fighters, cannot do so without incurring financial hardship. So Alpar has done what no other fighter has to date; she started her own Go Fund Me page to seek support from her fans.

The former LFA bantamweight women’s champion has already had a tough road in the UFC. Earning her UFC contract on Dana White‘s Contender Series, the transition hasn’t been easy for her. Alpar has gone 0-1 in the bantamweight division, losing to Jessica-Rose Clark at UFC Vegas 11. Alpar has also had four bouts canceled and hasn’t stepped into the octagon for a match since September of last year. No fights mean no paychecks.

Moving down to flyweight, Alpar will face Erin Blanchfield at a UFC Fight Night this upcoming September. Looking to get her career back on track, Alpar says she needs $30,000 to help her prepare.

In a lengthy statement on her Go Fund Me page, Alpar explains her goal and breaks down how she plans on utilizing the funds.

“My goal is to raise $30,000 by December 1, 2021, to train full-time. Greater success requires greater time, dedication, and resources. For this, I am calling on you to help me! My heart is in this, and you will watch my progress as finances come in, and I believe with all my heart we, the ‘Too Sweet’ Tribe, can get there. Funds will go toward food, supplements, training (gym fees, specialized coaching, etc.), living expenses, recovery, gym fees, doctor fees, travel, gas, room and board.”

“Financial SponsorshipsDonations, and having long-distance Travel Purchased with your donation of Flyer Miles – all of this is a HUGE help.”

Alpar also made a video posted to her Instagram explaining the page and seeking donations.

As fighter pay continues to be a hot-button topic in the world of MMA, we wonder if more fighters take Alpar’s approach to subsidize their careers.
