Derrick Lewis is apparently sick of playing games with Francis Ngannou.

After Lewis repeatedly called out the hulking Cameroonian in the weeks after Ngannou lost his title bid against current UFC heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic at January’s UFC 220, Ngannou recently revealed he was ready to meet “The Black Beast,” imploring Lewis’ management to get the ball rolling.

Today, Lewis replied while smoking a cigar in Jamaica, poking at Ngannou by saying someone should translate that he wants the fight to him while using a couple classic Yoel Romero hashtags:

@francisngannou it’s about time someone translated to you that I’ve been wanting this fight since last year #seeyousoonboy #iuhhyou

Ngannou had won all six of his UFC bouts by vicious stoppage prior to facing Miocic, an elite champion who showed “The Predator” what a true top mixed martial arts skillset looks like.

Lewis has won 10 of his 13 total UFC bouts and recently rebounded from a TKO loss to Mark Hunt by destroying Marcin Tybura at February’s UFC Austin. He’s repeatedly criticized Ngannou’s supposed gassing against Miocic, but “The Black Beast” has also been pegged as someone who falters when taken to the later rounds.

Both their styles are all-out, explosive, and knockout-focused, making this potential match-up one of the most explosive heavyweights fights the UFC could put on.

Should the UFC capitalize on the online heat and book the fight right away?

Following his disappointing UFC 220 loss to heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic earlier this year, Francis Ngannou has been trolled and called out by Derrick Lewis multiple times.

And now, “The Predator” appears ready to accept the challenge:

Prior to dropping a loss to Miocic, Ngannou had taken the heavyweight division by storm, winning six-straight UFC bouts with all ending by way of stoppage. His marquee win came this past December when he brutally knocked out veteran Alistair Overeem in the co-main event of UFC 218 in Detroit, Michigan.

Lewis, on the other hand, was riding a six-fight winning streak heading into a bout against legendary striker Mark Hunt last June, although he was finished by “The Super Samoan” in the fourth round of their headlining bout. Most recently, he bounced back with a vicious TKO victory over Marcin Tybura last month in Austin, Texas.

Would you like to see Ngannou and Lewis square off next?

UFC rising contender Alexander Volkov is on top of the world right now and wants another big fight.

As seen in the main event of Saturday’s (March 17, 2018) UFC London event on the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at The O2 Arena in London, England, Volkov knocked out former UFC heavyweight champion Fabrício Werdum.

Now, Volkov will keep a close eye on the next big fight that the UFC is putting on.

It’s been well documented that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will fight UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 226. They will also coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

Volkov will be watching for the winner of this upcoming fight and doesn’t care who the champion is because he just wants to fight the winner of it in Russia.

“I’ll be happy if it happens in September or maybe in autumn in Russia – for the first event in Russia,” Volkov told reporters after his stunning knockout of ex-champ Fabricio Werdum at UFC Fight Night 127, which took place at The O2 in London (transcript courtesy of MMA Junkie). “If the UFC gives me this, I’ll be really happy.”

“I’ll be waiting for the stronger guy,” Volkov said. “I’m just waiting for one of them. It doesn’t matter, because for me, it’s OK for me to win using my striking. I work with wrestling and jiu-jitsu a lot, but I prefer to use my striking.”

“We were playing with each other and getting under each others’ skin,” Volkov said. “In the end, the only thing I’m unhappy about is I had to finish him and hit him a couple of times while he was unconscious. I hope he didn’t receive too much damage, and I hope we’re still friends after this.”

UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic has addressed a potential fight with former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

UFC President Dana White has teased the return of Lesnar to the promotion in the past. The speculation going around is that with Jon Jones being on the sidelines, Lesnar would only return to the UFC for big fights and one of those fights could be against Miocic.

The current WWE Universal Champion’s contract is up with the WWE in April after WrestleMania 34. However, it has been reported that the sports entertainment company could keep him around through August.

Lesnar has competed just once inside of the cage since 2011. The former UFC champion holds notable wins over fighters such as Shane Carwin Randy Couture and Frank Mir.

Hard-hitting heavyweight star Mark Hunt is the last man to have fought Lesnar in the Octagon at UFC 200 in 2016. This marked Lesnar’s return to MMA after an almost five-year retirement.

As seen in the fight, Lesnar won a unanimous decision that night which was subsequently overturned when it was revealed he failed two USADA issued drug tests before the bout. This led to Hunt filing a civil suit against Lesnar and the UFC to settle his grievances.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Miocic noted that he believes that he can defeat Lesnar if they step into the Octagon and fought it out.

“Brock is a former champ and he knows how to bring it,” said Miocic. “He’s tough, he’s very strong and beaten a lot of good guys, but I am a bad matchup for him.”

“I match up well with anyone,” said Miocic. “That has a lot to do with my coaches, teammates, and my training. I always have a good game plan walking in on the day of a fight. With Brock, I’d win, there’s no question. But right now, all I care about is fighting DC. That’s all I’m worried about.”
