It didn’t take long for Daniel Cormier to react to Jon Jones’ pending return.

News broke tonight that Jones had been given a 15-month suspension for his positive drug test last year. He is now eligible to return on October 28, 2018. The date was curiously close to November 3’s UFC 230 from New York City, New York.

Jones’ punishment elicited a wide range of reactions from the mixed martial arts universe because of a polarizing nature. Lightweight ruler Khabib Nurmagomedov ripped USADA due to having “too much politics.” Khabib’s American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) teammate Cormier offered his own position as a co-host of tonight’s ‘UFC Tonight.’

A fired-up Cormier claimed he only talked about Jones because he had to. Cormier reiterated he’s the double-champ. He’s moved past Jones – or so he says:

“I’m the UFC double champion,” Cormier said. “I have bosses in the back and I’m talking about this guy because I have too. I’ve moved past that guy. I went about my business. I went and won another title. Now this guy’s suspension is up, so we’ll see what happens.”

Cormier then posed the question of why he should fight Jones a third time. He’s headed for a title defense versus Brock Lesnar early next year. Cormier believes he should stay focused on that, but many would argue he still has to defeat Jones to legitimize his 205-pound throne:

“I think people get excited, people get excited about the prospect of us fighting again, but I’ve got a fight with Brock Lesnar. Why would I look back? Why would I look back to Jones now when I’ve got a fight? Obviously as a competitor I want to fight the guy whose beat me twice, but I’ve got a fight. Why go back? I’ve got a bigger fight with Brock Lesnar, why should I go back?”

The UFC two-division champ then went off on USADA like Nurmagomedov. He cited his shining record with drug testing and then blasted USADA for him even having to discuss this circumstance:

“Here’s the deal: When it comes to USADA, they can’t come to my house anymore at 6 a.m,” Cormier said. “What’s the point? They’ve been to my house 15 times. USADA, don’t come to my house anymore. You don’t need too. You don’t need to come. I’m not going to fail a test, I’m not going to make any mistakes,

“I’m not going to have to sit up there and go, ‘I’m serious this time, guys. I promise I wasn’t really trying to cheat.’ It’s never going to happen with me. 70 times. 70 times since I started wrestling internationally and I’ve never made a mistake. It’s not that hard. So even to be sitting here and doing this again shows – guys are ridiculous.”

One of those fighters is UFC lightweight champion Nurmagomedov “The Eagle” isn’t a fan of Jones’ USADA suspension due to the supposed politics involved. He hopped on social media to criticize the decision:

Jon Jones’ USADA suspension make it seem like he got off easy.

Today Jones was given a 15-month suspension for his second USADA violation. Jones was suspended when he tested positive for anabolic steroid Turinabol. He knocked ‘DC’ out to regain his long-held light heavyweight belt in a thought-to-be historic scene. The knockout then became a no contest.

The troubled-but-historic great had been on the sidelines awaiting his punishment ever since. Jones has teased a return to action on social media. That seemed like a longshot considering he was facing a potential four-year suspension. Today, we just found out the opposite is true.

Jones will be eligible to return on October 28, putting his return at November 3’s UFC 230 as a distinct possibility. The MMA world was understandably abuzz with the news. Find out how MMA Twitter reacted to the news here:

Last night (Sun. September 16, 2018) Lesnar made his return to the professional wrestling juggernaut at its Hell In A Cell (HIAC) pay-per-view (PPV). He interrupted the main event for the Universal Championship between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

Lesnar tore down the steel door of the structure and hit both men with his signature F5 finisher. Hours before the show several professional wrestling sites had reported spotting Lesnar in the same city as the show. It was speculated he’d be getting involved in some way, shape, or form.

This is an interesting move by Lesnar, who was believed to be finished with WWE for the time being last month. He dropped the WWE’s World Title to Reigns at the SummerSlam PPV. This was because “The Beast” is believed to be gearing up for a big UFC return.

He will likely challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight championship in early 2019. According to a report from Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, this plan remains the same. The only reason Lesnar appeared at the HIAC PPV last night was that he is setting up another major WWE program for an upcoming show in Saudi Arabia.

WWE and Saudi Arabia have a lucrative deal in place that will provide the country with regular shows over the course of 10 years. Lesnar will be making a return to Saudi Arabia on November 2nd to perform on the card, after appearing on the WWE’s first show this past April.

He is believed to be making “well into the seven figures” for his matches in Saudi Arabia.

Legendary but troubled former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is awaiting the resolution of his failed USADA drug test in connection with his UFC 214 knockout victory over rival Daniel Cormier.

Jones has teased a pending return on social media quite often lately, making fans believe that a pending “Bones” fight could be on the horizon much sooner than his sordid history with performance-enhancing drugs would suggest.

That’s all speculation at this point, however, as Jones’ punishment could absolutely reach as high as four years because it’s his second offense. He’s also had repeated trouble with both cocaine and drinking and driving, making any return for “Bones” tentative speculation at the very best.

It won’t stop Jones from hoping for the best, of course, and in anticipation of his umpteenth comeback, he’s seemingly making more public appearances. Such was the case at this weekend’s Gatt Supplements expo in Las Vegas this weekend. There, Jones came face-to-face with an opponent he missed out on fighting when he was champion in two-time title contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson:

Johnson retired from mixed martial arts after his second loss to Cormier at April 2017’s UFC 210. He’s since been seen becoming more focused on bodybuilding, and the results are not only jaw-dropping but also enough to prompt many to speculate that ‘Rumble’s’ been on some “supplements” of his own.

He isn’t being tested by USADA like Jones is, even if they haven’t exactly been knocking his door down this year. Regardless, the controversial great has an uncanny knack to come back from peril that would seemingly damn most other fighters. There was even a rumor that USADA had accepted a bribe to resolve “Bones’” case.

Let’s just hope we find out what will happen to Jones before a lengthy suspension period ends.

Daniel Cormier Goes Off On Jon Jones’ Latest Callout

Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones is heating back up – again.

The post Daniel Cormier Goes Off On Jon Jones’ Latest Callout appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

It’s hardly a surprise that Daniel Cormier goes off on Jon Jones’ latest callout.

The currently suspended former champion recently revealed he wanted to fight Cormier two more times in an interview with RT Sport. The longtime rivals have fought twice. Jones won both bouts, outlasting Cormier by decision at UFC 182 and knocking him out at UFC 214 in summer 2017.

But the legendary and troubled champion was then suspended for failing a pre-fight drug screen. Jones has been on the sidelines awaiting his punishment from USADA ever since. He seems to believe it won’t be much of one, conducting several interviews and teasing potential returns online in recent months.

One of his obvious goals would be to beat Cormier, who now owns the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles, a third time. Cormier isn’t so keen about those plans. The aging champ-champ is planning on fighting Brock Lesnar early next year, and may or may not face “Bones” again. “DC” fired back at Jones’ goals by stating the facts that “Bones” had failed three drug tests:

Jones soon fired back himself. He teased Cormier by asking him if his lofty goals had ‘offended’ him:

A Better Strategy

Jones then denied that any PED had helped him knock out “DC” when they fought last. He attributed the then-historic win to a better gameplan:

******** may not have been the cause of Jones’ scintillating win over Cormier last year. They definitely weren’t the sole cause.

However, the fact remains that Jones has failed three drug tests like Cormier stated – two for PEDs and one for cocaine metabolites. It’s hard to argue that Jones wouldn’t be the most decorated fighter in MMA history without them. But the uber-talented would-be great still seems to be content pointing the finger at anyone but himself.

It’s worked for him before. He could definitely be headed for an umpteenth comeback soon. But how long will that last?
