Jones and Matyushenko. Rogan and Goldie. Munoz and Okami. Arianny and the other girl. Gomi and Griffin. Big John McCarthy (!), assuming he hasn’t been completely relegated to the dark card. It’s been far too long since the UFC has graced us with their presence — particularly on free TV — and it feels good to be hanging with the old gang again. Live round-by-round results from the Versus broadcast will be piling up after the jump starting at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. Refresh your browser every few minutes for all the latest, and leave us your insightful feedback in the comments section. And please, no unrelated comments about how boring Jake Shields is. At least for one night. Come on, guys, let’s be adults here.

With another UFC event making its way on to Versus tonight we once again confront mankind’s oldest question: If the fight’s on free TV, how can I ensure that I still throw some money away on it?

One easy solution is to shove that hard-earned cash into the depressing void of gambling. Or you could take it and buy something nice for your favorite MMA writer. You know, whichever one sounds like an idea that might make someone happy.

But before you decide, why not check out the betting odds for UFC on Versus 2 to see who oddsmakers think will win, and who they think will spend the night in the hospital and miss tonight’s episode of ‘Mad Men’ entirely.

Let’s face it, UFC on Versus 2 is not the most star-studded fight card the UFC has ever rolled out, even on cable TV. You’ve got also-rans taking on almost-weres, and has-beens facing off against probably-won’t-ever-bes.

That means several men will most likely be fighting for their jobs on Sunday night, and the Cut List is here to tell you who they are and what their chances for continued employment look like. Let’s start from the televised portion of the card and work our way down:

Jon Jones vs Vladimir Matyushenko

Frankly I’ll be shocked if Jon Jones loses to a top game grinder like Matyushenko. Jones is far far far far superior on the feet and can more than handle himself in the wrestling department. I’m not expecting Matyushenko to be thrown around like some of Jones’ previous opponents, but I expect him to be back tripped and maybe some other Judo trips that take Matyushenko down where Jon will TKO Vlad.

Jones is a monster favorite here and I can’t see it otherwise. I like Jones to win.

Mark Munoz vs Yushin Okami

Two wrestlers with mediocre stand up. Well Munoz has really changed his standup actually. I should give him alot more credit. He is wild though with his strikes. Wrestling advantage likely in favor of Munoz with the submission edge and top game edge to Okami. Munoz is also the better power puncher though. If Munoz gets Okami in a bad spot expect Munoz to start looking like a gorilla looking to get its baby back.

I lean towards Munoz because striking is not Okami’s top priority and I think Munoz’s wrestling prowess is enough to negate Okami’s wrestling/positioning edge to some degree.

John Howard vs Jake Ellenberger

If I have to pick here I’d go with Ellenberger. He always finds a way to win and when he doesn’t win its a razor thin loss. John Howard is no joke and should give Ellenberger a very tough fight.

Tyson Griffin vs Takanori Gomi

Tyson Griffin. Too many leg kicks, too good of submission defense. Gomi probably has a reach advantage and could of course stun Griffin, but I think Griffin is too busy of a fighter for Gomi to deal with. Gomi’s mystique really diminishes after this fight imo.

Griffin to win. Griffin is also favored.

Paul Kelly vs Jacob Volkmann

I like Volkmann here. He is the favorite in this fight. Volkmann’s wrestling ability is most likely going to have Kelly on his back the whole fight.

DaMarques Johnson vs Matthew Riddle

I think Riddle is too strong. Don’t really have a strong opinion here.

(Y’know, if you two got to know each other, you’d realize you aren’t so different after all.)

As first reported by MMA Weekly, Dan Hardy will return to the Octagon at UFC 120, tentatively slated for October 16th at the O2 Arena in London. After getting slept on for five rounds in his unsuccessful welterweight title grab against Georges St. Pierre in March, Hardy will look to rebound against Carlos Condit, who’s coming off a dramatic third-round TKO over Rory MacDonald at UFC 115; the stoppage came with seven seconds left in the final frame, and Condit would have likely lost the fight on points. No other fights have been reported for UFC 120, although the event is rumored to host the UFC’s first U.K. Fan Expo.

In other booking news, Tyson Griffin has stepped up to face Takanori Gomi at UFC on Versus 2 (August 1st, San Diego), replacing Joe Stevenson who suffered a knee injury in training. Griffin was most recently outworked by Evan Dunham at UFC 115, losing by split-decision. Gomi might be facing a must-win situation against Griffin, as he was choked out by Kenny Florian in his Octagon debut in March.
