The biggest story of today’s (Sat., June 23, 2018) UFC Fight Night 132 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, was rising prospect Leon Edwards’ decision win over longtime vet Donald Cerrone (full highlights here), but another hyped young fighter made quite the impact on the preliminary card.

Former ACB bantamweight champ Petr Yan made his UFC debut against Team Alpha Male (TAM) product Teruto Ishihara, and the fight ended in quite devastating fashion. Wobbling Ishihara with a spinning backfist in the latter half of the opening round, Yan followed up with a huge punch that put Ishihara’s light outs for good.

Former WEC champion and UFC title contender Urijah Faber’s life outside of fighting is proving to be just as dangerous as his career in mixed martial arts.

In Asia to corner his Team Alpha Male (TAM) student Teruto Ishihara at this weekend’s (Sat., June 23, 2018) UFC Fight Night 132 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, ‘The California Kid’ posted a video on his Instagram revealing he had been run over by ‘the only car in the road.’

The post also proved he had been injured in the accident, showing a somewhat gruesome foot injury affecting his toe:

Thankfully, Faber isn’t fighting in Singapore, because this would obviously complicate matters, yet the 39-year-old star has reportedly remained in the USADA testing pool in case the right offer surfaces.

If he’s counting on that to arrive, perhaps he’ll want to stay out of the streets in Singapore.

Rolando Dy’s fouls didn’t deter Teruto Ishihara.

Ishihara and Dy did battle inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The bout served as UFC Fight Night 117’s second main card bout.

The two traded kicks early. A quick and hard left hand dropped Dy. He rained down some ground-and-pound. Dy tried wrapped up his opponent in full guard. Dy got back up to his feet, but was taken down. Ishihara maintained control until the round ended.

Ishihara was kneed in the groin early in the second round, but time quickly resumed. A head kick connected for Dy, but Ishihara took it. The two exchanged punches. A short left hook landed for Dy. The round later came to a close and Dy had much more success than in the opening frame.

A knee to the chin landed clean on Ishihara in the jaw. Time was called for a kick to the groin from Dy, who claimed it landed on the stomach. Replays showed Ishihara was indeed hit in the groin. A head kick was there for Ishihara. He landed another high kick. Dy landed a high kick of his own.

Yet another kick to the groin from Dy conencted. It was Dy’s third low blow. Once Ishihara recovered, a point was deducted from Dy. The action resumed and Ishihara scored a takedown. Dy got back up to his feet, but couldn’t get much offense going and the final horn sounded.

Final Result: Teruto Ishihara def. Rolando Dy via unanimous decision (28-27, 28-27, 29-27)

Team Alpha Male head coach Justin Buchholz returned to the MMA cage on short notice after a three-year layoff and won by bizarre first-round TKO. Buchholz (16-10) was competing at Alaska Fighting Championship 133 as a short-notice replacement against Marques Facine (14-15), which was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

Buchholz (16-10) was competing at Alaska Fighting Championship 133 as a short-notice replacement against Marques Facine (14-15), which was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

Buchholz, 34, capitalized on a slip from Facine and brutalized his ribs with body kicks while Facine was face down. The final of those kicks accidentally hit Facine in the head, causing the referee to stop the fight.

After some confusion, the judges determined that the final kick was accidental and had no bearing on the outcome of the fight (i.e. Facine was done well before the final kick). It did cause an odd scene to ensue, as Facine was injured and had to actually be taken out on a stretcher.

The win was Buchholz’s first since May 2013. Check out the bizarre win for Buchholz via MMA Junkie’s Blue Corner here:

Buchholz’ Team Alpha Male fighter Teruto Ishihara fights this weekend on the Ovince Saint Preux vs. Yushin Okami-headlined UFC event from Japan.

What do you think of the finish?
