Hollywood megastar and WWE legend The Rock has been very open about his support for fellow Miami native Jorge Masvidal.

At UFC 244 in New York City, live on pay-per-view (PPV), Masvidal will step into the cage to headline the Madison Square Garden card against Nate Diaz. The winner will be awarded the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship – a one-off belt being created by the Las Vegas-based promotion.

Recently, Masvidal noted on Twitter that he wants The Rock to wrap the belt around his waist if he is victorious on November 2. Now, UFC president Dana White tells TMZ Sports The Rock is all set to award the winner the BMF Title. According to White, the belt cost $50,000 to make.

“That’s a good question,” White said. “I think it’s gonna be, like, I think the belt is like $50,000.”

As for The Rock’s involvement, White said “The Most Electrifying Man In Sports & Entertainment” is set to take his job for the night, awarding the winner the title.

“He’s gonna, White revealed. “He’s taking my job. Listen, if The Rock wants to do it, The Rock gets what The Rock wants.”

What do you make of White allowing The Rock to wrap the title around Masvidal or Diaz’s waist?

Jorge Masvidal has, arguably, the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career coming up.

Masvidal will take on Nate Diaz in the main event of the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden on November 2. Diaz called Masvidal out after his UFC 241 win over Anthony “Showtime” Pettis in California. He also proclaimed himself the UFC’s “Baddest Mother F*cker Champion,” and said he’ll defend his title against Masvidal next.

UFC President Dana White said he’s actually going to get a BMF belt made for the matchup, and award it to the winner. However, it won’t be defended again, as the title will simply be a one-off. Masvidal is obviously extremely confident he’ll leave MSG as the BMF Champion. He also might have a fellow Miami native in the house cheering him on in The Rock.

The former WWE star and Hollywood megastar recently noted he might have to show up to watch Masvidal vs. Diaz in person. Responding to The Rock’s comments on Twitter, Masvidal said, if The Rock is in the building, and he emerges victorious, “Gamebred” wants The Rock to wrap the BMF belt around his waist.

Jorge Masvidal is getting a ton of attention after destroying Ben Askren at UFC 239 this past weekend (Sat. July 6, 2019).

“Gamebred” put Askren away with a flying knee in five seconds as “Funky” shot in on an immediate takedown. It officially went down as the fastest knockout in UFC history. Recently, Masvidal took to Twitter to shout out former WWE star and current Hollywood star The Rock, asking him if he smelled the three-piece at UFC 239.

The Rock actually responded to Masvidal, praising his fellow Miami native with the following:

“You know I did brother. You served em cold and violent – the necessary way. Big luv. #miami #AndNew

Masvidal has capitalized well off the record-setting knockout. He recently took to “The Dan LeBatard Showto call out Conor McGregor. There’s also the possibility that Masvidal challenges UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for the title next.

If that fight doesn’t materialize, fights with the likes of Tyron Woodley or the winner of Colby Covington vs. Robbie Lawler are also options. However, should Covington emerge victorious, that would mean “Gamebred” has to fight one of his best friends and teammates. It will certainly be interesting to see what’s next for the former street fighter.

What do you think about The Rock’s praise for Masvidal?

Following an outburst at a UFC 223 media day last month that landed him in a Brooklyn jail, former two-division UFC world champion Conor McGregor has received quite a bit of criticism, but more recently, he received some positive comments from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

McGregor then responded, thanking Johnson and offering up some praise of his own.

The “Notorious” one, who will appear in court next month, hasn’t competed inside of the Octagon since November 2016 when he viciously knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 to not only become the promotion’s lightweight champion, but to become the first fighter in promotional history to hold two titles in two different weight classes at one time.

Following that fight, McGregor dropped a 10th round TKO defeat to the legendary Floyd Mayweather in a highly publicized boxing match last August.

His fighting future is currently unclear.
