Following UFC 130, Dana White said Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would get the next shot at the UFC light-heavyweght title if he was healthy. According to a report by MMA Junkie, Jon Jones has said he will fight Rampage.

“I’ll be fighting Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson next. I’m not allowed to discuss the date because I didn’t sign a contract, but yeah, it will be very soon.”

When asked when he’d like to return, Jones just had one thing to say, “September.”

With two events currently on the UFC schedule for September, one of them a UFC Fight Night, it would appear Jones will put his title on the line against Rampage at UFC 135. The fight will probably headline the Denver, Colo., event.

Both fighters have been battling hand injuries. Jones has an issue with one of his hand ligaments and was expected to have surgery until a doctor decided surgery was not necessary.

Jackson has an undisclosed hand injury that led to the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspending him until Nov. 25, but an orthopedic doctor can clear him early.

Jackson is 4-1 since losing the title to Forrest Griffin, and that loss was to Rashad Evans. The win gave Evans a shot at light-heavyweight title, but an injury forced him off the card, and Jones took his place and won.

Evans will now face Phil Davis at UFC 133. Evans’ original opponent was Jones, but his hand injury forced hm off the card.

Jackson has won two straight since the loss to Evans, defeating former light-heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida by split decision and Matt Hamill by unanimous decision.

As promised here is part II of the fights I believe have the most importance attached to them and should prove to be highly exciting. In the first segment I went over the bouts starting at UFC 130 this month and going through UFC 132 which takes place in early July.

Starting with UFC 133 I will go over the top 10 bouts that will take place in the late summer/early fall period. As with anything that is planned out so many months ahead, things happen and fighters get injured, but the UFC has always been pretty good about finding suitable replacements.

UFC 134 also known as UFC: Rio has a handful of bouts that will get the fans extremely excited and ready for the fall months. So even though it will be time to say goodbye to summer, it will also be time to look forward to even more great fights. I will take a look and see what Strikeforce has planned as well.
