Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who lost to Conor McGregor in 13-seconds at UFC 194, is making it very clear that he wants to fight McGregor next. On the other hand, McGregor, who had several options on the table for him going into UFC 196, plans to go back down to 145lb and make his first title defense at the UFC 200 PPV event in Las Vegas on July 9th.

Both Aldo and #1 contender for the featherweight title Frankie Edgar are asking for the chance to fight McGregor at the big event this summer.

Aldo not only responded to McGregor but Edgar as well in a recent Facebook post. Aldo pointed out that Edgar lost twice to Benson Henderson when he fought for the lightweight title on the line and that he doesn’t deserve to “cut in line.”

Aldo posted this on Facebook:

“I heard you were asking for a title shot. I respect you as a fighter but let’s check the facts: you lost twice to Ben Henderson before coming to the 145 division and geting a title shot against me without having fought once in the featherweight division. We had a great fight, but everybody knows the result. You can’t come here now and cut the line, you have to wait because you don’t have any right to ask for a title shot yet. Conor McGregor: instead of running up to a different weight division and talking shit about me, you could make your time valuable and go to a real gym to learn real jiu-jitsu. I’ll be ready for you at UFC 200, so we can leave no doubt.

Edgar has a strong case regarding his status in the division, and he is the #1 contender for the title. On the flip side, you have Aldo, who lost to McGregor in a way that doesn’t give fans much interest in seeing a rematch. It will be interesting to see what the UFC does going forward.

It looks like former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is ready for that Conor McGregor rematch now.

After turning down the opportunity to fight McGregor at UFC 196 on two weeks notice, Aldo is already calling out the man who still holds the title that used to belong to him just minutes after he was submitted by Nate Diaz in Saturday night’s main event.

“See ya at UFC 200 [Conor McGregor],” wrote Aldo on Twitter. “Your fairy tale is over. You got nowhere to run now.”

Aldo concluded, “Time to [do] a rematch, p*ssy.”

Nobody in the sport of mixed martial arts today commands the spotlight quite like UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. His words are unforgettable, his skills are world-class, and his name draws attention from countless top stars around the promotion.

Free of divisional borders and weight restrictions, McGregor is quickly becoming a true rarity in combat sports. The 145-pound king was not only two weeks away from moving up to lightweight, but now he’s competing at welterweight this Saturday at UFC 196.

And even though the contest is against Nate Diaz, a true 155-pounder, McGregor is packing on weight in preparation for a longer stay at the heavier weight classes. You can’t blame the guy considering his cut down to featherweight is one of the more grueling cuts in all of MMA.

Regardless of what happens this Saturday against Diaz, “Mystic Mac” has stated that he has no official plans heading into the latter part of 2016. Obviously the UFC will pull every single string known to man to have him headline UFC 200 this July, but an opponent has yet to be determined.

But considering his recent quarrels with opponents pulling out on short notice, it seems like knowing who he’s going to fight is the least of McGregor’s worries these days. However, someone has to play matchmaker.

Here are four readily available and ground-breaking options for the superstar Irishman to take following this weekend.

After shockingly surrendering his title in just 13-seconds at UFC 194 last December, former long-time featherweight champion Jose Aldo has claimed that he will not accept any other fight besides a rematch with the Conor McGregor or a shot at the title.

That opportunity was recently made available when McGregor’s scheduled UFC 196 opponent, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, pulled out of the bout with a broken foot.

The UFC had called Aldo and offered him the short notice fight with the “Notorious” one, but apparently “Scarface” wasn’t in fight shape.

Recently speaking on the matter, the former champion said that this isn’t a ‘cock fight’, and that with ample time to train he’d fight anyone:

“Any professional needs time to train,” Aldo told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s The MMA Hour. “It’s not a cockfight where I go there and put my rooster to fight. It’s a high-level sport, I’m going there to do my job. When I have time to train, it can happen at any time, anywhere.”

As far as what the future holds, Aldo actually said that he and the UFC have agreed on an immediate rematch between he and the Irish champion:

“I can’t speak for others, and I don’t care what they say. I know I deserve an immediate rematch,” Aldo said of those who think he should be in a non-title bout next. “People who say I don’t, I don’t care about them. The important is what the UFC thinks and what we think. We came to the conclusion that we’re having an immediate rematch.”

McGregor is slated to face off with Nate Diaz this weekend in Las Vegas, and has already confirmed that he will fight at July’s UFC 200 which seems to fit into Aldo’s schedule as well:

“I want to fight at UFC 200,” Aldo said. “It’s a historical edition, a great event. I would like to be part of it.”

Regarding predictions, the devastating knockout loss hasn’t lowered Aldo’s confidence:

“I know I will win (the belt) again,” he said.

Wow, as one of the pioneers of women’s MMA and a former UFC champion, it’s pretty crazy how Ronda Rousey snubbed this reporter from Australia…

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has experienced the harsh realities of being a fighter and celebrity over the past four months, and it all started in the lead up to UFC 193 last November. ‘Rowdy’ was being packaged as the most dominant athlete in the game, and the UFC was pushing to make her a household name. It all got a little too much for some sects of mixed martial arts fans, who were very vocal in their hopes for a Rousey loss at UFC 193.

Lose Rousey did, and in spectacular fashion, to Holly Holm. ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ snatched the title from Rousey, who was until that point the first and only women’s bantamweight champion, and in doing so opened the floodgates to months of drama. Fans across the world jeered and rejoiced in Rousey’s downfall, and she went in to hiding from the media. Resurfacing last month dueing a slot on Saturday Night Live, the singing and dancing Ronda Rousey was back, but not for long.

A dramatic interview on the talk show with Ellen revealed that Rousey had hit a deep depression following the loss to Holm. Even considering suicide at one point, it seemed the crushing knockout had impacted ‘Rowdy’ more than any of us had first realised. So is she past it? We might have been able to find out some more details, if the former Olympian Judoka was taking questions on fighting, which she is not. Check out this frustrated reporter from 7 News Perth in Australia being told by Rousey’s PR team that she’d walk out if asked about fighting:

So the woman that once declared herself the greatest fighter of all time, and said she could beat every women’s bantamweight with one hand is now shying from the limelight. Well, at least where talking about fighting is concerned.

Where’s this all leading? Personally, I doubt we’ll ever see Ronda Rousey fight again, not with how many movie roles are now coming out of the woodwork. Would that be a bad thing though? She’s used fighting to elevate her status, make some money, what more does the ex-champion need to prove?

Conor McGregor Confirms He Will Fight At UFC 200

As the biggest star in not only the UFC, but likely all of mixed martial arts, it’s been widely thought that reigning featherweight champion the “Notorious” Conor McGregor would fight at July’s landmark UFC 200 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, after shockingly knocking out Jose Aldo at UFC 194, McGregor decided to move up in weight to face off with lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos, attempting to become the first man to simultaneously hold two titles in promotional history.

McGregor will attempt to do this in just a few weeks at March 5’s UFC 196.

According to the brash and outspoken Irishman, who recently spoke with Severe MMA, he will apparently still be competing at UFC 200 before he hopes to once again fight in his home of Ireland:

“Vegas this one, Vegas next one probably because I committed to UFC 200, I did commit to that, then East coast or Dublin.” McGregor said.

With McGregor now confirming that he will compete in July, talk has shifted to just who would be a suitable opponent for the “Notorious” one.

Of course he could defend his 145-pound title, likely against top contender Frankie Edgar. Or perhaps he could put the lightweight strap on the line if he indeed takes out dos Anjos, which of course is no easy task.

But you know McGregor. The Irishman always likes to go big, and the rumors have begun to swirl regarding a possible move up to welterweight in search of a third world title.

According to the “Notorious” one, a move up to 170-pounds is a very realistic possibility, and a move he would be confident with:

“I’m coming for that belt, I’m coming for the next belt, I’m coming for the whole company.” McGregor said.

“Why not go up?”

“They get slower, and they get less free up there, they are stiffer, they are even more stuck than the lightweight division. So I’ll keep going, keep eating, keep training and keep going until all the belts are wrapped up.”

“I’m afraid of no one, I will go up and fight any weight.” McGregor continued. “Anyone can come down and step in that cage with me or any cage and see how they fare, but nobody fares well that’s for sure.”

Could you imagine McGregor vs. “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler for the welterweight title this summer?
