Headline: Joe Rogan Says PEDs Are An “Epidemic” In MMA

In light of the recent PED problem in the sport of MMA, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan went on a rant about the subject on his latest podcast, referring to the situation as a legitimate “epidemic.”

“The UFC and MMA, in general, is a steroid epidemic,” said Rogan. “They’ve started this really stringent testing and everybody is getting popped. They’re just getting popped left and right. It’s one of the things fighters have been saying for a long time, that everyone is on steroids, a huge percentage. Give a number 50, 60 [percent]. Whatever the f**k it is that are on steroids.”

Rogan touched on the highest-profile case in recent weeks, that being Anderson Silva.

“Anderson was coming back from a broken leg and he tested positive for metabolites,” said Rogan. “It was leaving his system, a very trace amount. If that was the case, it could very well be that he got on some steroids to heal up quicker. Because what steroids do, is they allow you to recover quicker.

“So if he’s 39 years old and he broke his f***ing leg, you’re talking about a long-ass period of recovery. Or you take steroids and you recover in nine months instead of 15 months or fill in the blank. That could be what’s going on, but the reality is it’s illegal. You can’t do it. If it takes you 15 months, the excuse can’t be, ‘I’m going to give you some illegal drugs so you heal quicker. This is the only reason you take these drugs. Don’t worry about it, you’ll be fine.’ No, you’re never allowed to take steroids.”

Rogan also shared his thoughts on Hector Lombard’s positive test, news of which came out this week.

“This thing that Hector Lombard got popped for, I’ve never even heard of this s**t before,” said Rogan. “It’s apparently a designer anabolic steroid, so what I think that means is that it’s one of these steroids that’s been concocted to get around the rules.

“The test are getting way more sophisticated, so who knows? Lombard must have thought that he couldn’t get in trouble for this s**t. I don’t understand it.”

Tai Tuivasa just wants to have fun.

Fortunately for “Bam Bam,” there is nothing more fun for him than knocking a man unconscious. Well, except for maybe the celebratory shoeys that come afterward.

At UFC 271, Tuivasa had a blast yet again when he registered his fifth consecutive knockout win. This time, it came over the most prolific knockout artist the UFC has ever seen: Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis.

In executing this knockout, Tuivasa made good on the prediction of the entire MMA community leading up to the co-main event that somebody was going to be knocked unconscious. That man would turn out to be Derrick Lewis.

As for Tuivasa, the entire co-main event was a typical Tuivasa party: old school bangers for the tunes, smash hits delivered by the host for the action, and lots and lots of beer flowing to ensure everyone goes home happy.

And if it’s all the same for Tuivasa, this party is worth repeating, even if others think it’s about time he grows up and starts setting more adult goals for himself.

“I don’t mind being the guy who drinks piss out of shoes and this and that,” Tuivasa responded when asked about his reputation as only being a KO artist and beer chugger instead of a title contender. “I suppose everyone focuses on all that, but at the end of the day, I’m knocking the best in the world out. So it’s up to yous to take it however it is.

“Like I said, I’ve got a great team behind me now. I’ve got guys who have just the best interest for me, and fuck we’re doing alright, you know what I mean? We’re knocking out the best in the world, brah. We’re here.”

Still, even if Tuivasa doesn’t care about the rankings, the UFC rankings panel must. And this coming week you can expect Tuivasa, who currently sits at #11, to make a massive leap up the ranks. So who does Tuivasa want next? Is there anyone he would like to call out in the top 5?

Tuivasa decided to pass on that opportunity because he hasn’t the slightest clue who occupies the UFC’s heavyweight top 5—even when sober.

“Brah, to be honest I don’t even know who the fuck’s in the top five,” Tuivasa confessed. “I don’t even watch fighting, brah. Like I said, I heard there’s the Stipe’s, the Cyril Gane’s and all of that and everyone up there. But this is my job. I rock up, I prepare with my team, and we fuckin’ punch on.”

How long do you think Tai Tuivasa KO and shoey party will continue until someone crashes it?

Dana White jokingly ribbed a reporter who seemed to be a fan of the recent diss track aimed at the UFC president.

‘The Problem Child’ made waves when he dropped a music video and diss track slamming White in January. The song took aim at White for not paying his fighters a fair amount among a number of the same issues Paul has spoken about in recent memory including the UFC President’s lack of hair and alleged drug use.

Not only did Paul take shots at White but he also included the names of fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz and Conor Mcgregor. The video has already garnered 3.1 million views.

Dana White Says He Hasn’t Heard Jake Paul’s Diss Track

At the UFC 271 post-fight press conference, White spoke out for the first time about being the subject of a diss track.

The UFC boss insisted that he has not heard the song and subsequently bashed one reporter who claimed it was actually a decent tune.

“I haven’t seen it yet, no. Is it good?” White said when asked about the diss track before requesting a review of the song from the reporter who called it “pretty good.”

“I think you’re full of sh*t, that’s what I think,” White added to a chorus of laughs.

Do you think Dana White has really not heard Jake Paul’s diss track?

Robert Whittaker Thinks He Beat Israel Adesanya, Says Third Fight Is Inevitable

Robert Whittaker believes he did enough to dethrone Israel Adesanya at UFC 271.

‘The Reaper’ gave a great account of himself after previously being wiped out by Adesanya inside two rounds in 2019. Whittaker impressed with his wrestling and striking ability throughout the 25-minute fight but unfortunately for him, it wasn’t enough to sway the judges’ who declared ‘Stylebender’ victorious by way of unanimous decision at the conclusion of the five-round fight.

Whittaker said that he thought he won when speaking to Daniel Cormier during his post-fight Octagon interview and kept that same energy when talking to reporters backstage.

“I thought he looked very beatable. I thought I beat him,” Whittaker said. “I thought I did enough, I got inside his reach, I beat him to every punch, beat him every time. He didn’t land anything that really hurt me but that one shot in the first.

The former middleweight champion believes that the third fight between him and Adesanya is inevitable. Whittaker claims he will beat whoever he needs to earn a trilogy fight while ‘Stylebender’ will hold onto the 185lb strap for the foreseeable future.

“A third fight between me and Izzy is inevitable,” Whittaker added. “It’s inevitable, because I’m going stomp anybody who comes in front of me again and he knows that too. That’s why he said, ‘I’ll be seeing you in the future.’ I don’t see him losing the belt anytime soon, he’s good. I think I am the person to beat him and my mission stays the same.”

It appears that Jared Cannonier is next in line for a shot at the middleweight title after he viciously knocked out Derek Brunson on the UFC 271 undercard.

Do you think Robert Whittaker will get a third crack at Israel Adesanya?

The UFC 271 bonuses have been released.

The event took place in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center. Headlining the card was a clash between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker for the middleweight title. This fight saw the first round feature Israel knocking him down with a straight left hand, but Whittaker sat down then got right back up. Whittaker did make some takedown attempts, but wasn’t successful.

The second round saw Whittaker get a takedown, but couldn’t keep him on the ground. Whittaker was more aggressive in this round. Whittaker did get a takedown in the third round, but  he couldn’t keep him there. Whittaker clinched with him up against the fence. In the fourth round, Whittaker got a takedown, but Izzy was right back up so Whittaker took his back and Izzy eventually escaped. Whittaker got a takedown after a level change mid-way through the fifth round. Izzy back to his feet and they did some clinch work. Whittaker landed a solid shot out of the break. The judges gave the win to Adesanya, who retained the strap.

The co-main event saw more action between Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa. The first round was interesting as Tai was constantly looking to clinch while Lewis took him down a few different times, but never was able to keep him down. When Lewis had him up against the fence, he smashed him a few times in the face before Tai fired up and they had a fun exchange.

It all ended in the third round. Lewis started off strong by stunning him, but failed on a takedown attempt. Lewis rushed in and got clipped with a left hook that hurt him. Tai with a series of shots then dropped with him with a right elbow.

Khamzat Chimaev Calls For ‘Easy’ Israel Adesanya Fight After UFC 271

Khamzat Chimaev

Khamzat Chimaev was clearly not impressed by Israel Adesanya’s performance at UFC 271.

‘The Wolf’ took to social media post-fight to call for an “easy money” fight against the UFC middleweight king.

@stylebender easy money for me, 0 wrestling. 1 round I’m gonna kill him,” Chimaev wrote on Twitter.

Adesanya edged out a second win over Robert Whittaker on the judges’ scorecards. ‘The Last Stylebender’ was taken down on several occasions in the fight but always managed to impressively pop straight back up.

Earlier on the UFC 271 fight card, Jared Cannonier established himself as the middleweight number one contender with a vicious second-round KO win over Derek Brunson. Post-fight, UFC president Dana White seemed to confirm that Cannonier will get the next shot at Adesanya.

“I was excited to see that fight to see how it played out,” White said. “It was an exciting fight. And yeah, I’m not going to say no to Cannonier.”

Khamzat Chimaev Still Has Work To Do At Welterweight

Chimaev burst onto the scene in the summer of 2020 and made an instant impact when he fought twice in the space of 10 days.

The Dagestani native made his promotional debut at middleweight against Welsh puncher John Phillips. Chimaev was so dominant in his first UFC round that one judge scored it 10-7 in his favour. A round later he wrapped up his first Octagon win by way of D’arce choke.

Just 10 days later, Chimaev dropped down to welterweight to take on UFC debutante and Cage Warriors standout, Rhys McKee. This time he looked even better, dominating McKee from the opening bell and finding the finish inside the first round.

In September 2020, Chimaev moved to 3-0 in the UFC as he picked up the biggest win of his career with a spectacular one-punch KO of Gerald Meerschaert. The long-time UFC middleweight was a considerable step in opposition and many suspected that ‘GM3’ could spring the upset. However, Chimaev silenced his doubters with the first punch he landed which closed the show in just 17 seconds.

Chimaev returned from a year-long layoff at UFC 267. ‘The Wolf’ faced the toughest test of his 10-fight career when he squared off against Li Jingliang in Abu Dhabi.

‘Borz’ reminded everyone why he is one of the most exciting prospects in MMA when he picked up Jingliang, carried him over to the corner Dana White was sitting in, and then slammed him to the mat in that area so he could chat with the UFC president.

Chimaev made the toughest test of his career to date look like a stroll in the park, submitting Jingliang in just over three minutes.

The 27-year-old now seems set to face Gilbert Burns next in what appears to be a number one contender fight. If victorious, Chimaev should get a shot at Kamaru Usman in 2022. After that, maybe he can start to think about trying to dethrone Adesanya.

Do you think Khamzat Chimaev could beat Israel Adesanya?
