Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier

Jon Jones has a question for old nemesis Daniel Cormier.

Jon Jones is often the subject of heavy criticism and ridicule, often as a consequence of his own decisions and controversies. However, there is one detractor in particular who has always stood head and shoulders above the mass of others (sans Chael Sonnen): Daniel Cormier.

Jones and Cormier have been at odds dating back even before Cormier debuted in the UFC in 2013, and their feud has continued into the former double champion’s retirement. Jones is confused by this, though, questioning why Cormier is continuing to react so strongly to him despite the fact that he is no longer competing.

In the above image, Jon Jones is seen training with Henry Cejudo. Jones documented his day of training with new partners on Friday, this after Jones was banished from Jackson-Wink MMA. Cormier’s Instagram Stories reacts to the training session by writing “Fuck Henry Cejudo!” at what appears at face value to be Cormier expressing his disapproval for Cejudo aligning himself with Jones.

In Jones’ tweet responding to Cormier’s message, he asked, “Why are you such a hater, you don’t even fight no more!? Man that bitterness is real I tell ya.”

The reason Jones was banished from Jackson-Wink MMA is primarily because of recent allegations of battery domestic violence. Jones has since announced a move to an affiliate gym of Jackson-Wink MMA.

Cormier’s reaction may be what it appears: a strong censuring of Cejudo for affiliating with Jones despite his latest controversy. Then again, it could just be the ol’ DC sense of humor at play toward his fellow Olympian, with Jones not picking up on the joke.

Jon Jones is expected to return to action in the first quarter of 2022 in his heavyweight debut. He is also due in court soon to answer for his charges of battery domestic violence and injuring/tampering with a vehicle.

Junior dos Santos

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos says boxing legend Mike Tyson convinced the UFC to not give him a post-fight bonus.

Dos Santos was released from the UFC earlier this year after a recent losing skid to the likes of Ciryl Gane and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. He hasn’t ruled out signing with another MMA promotion but has hinted at a transition to boxing before his career ends.

But dos Santos raised plenty of eyebrows during a recent interview with The Sun, in which he accused Tyson of convincing UFC president Dana White to give him just one post-fight bonus instead of two for his knockout over Mark Hunt at UFC 160.

Junior Dos Santos Claims Mike Tyson Told UFC To Take KO Bonus

“Back in the day, Mike Tyson took from me $50,000 because of Dana White!” dos Santos said. “When I fought Mark Hunt I had two Bonuses of the Night – Best Fight of the Night, and Best Knockout of the Night. And Mike Tyson was there watching the fight and at the press conference after the fights, Dana White said, ‘Junior Dos Santos has won two bonuses of the night. Best Fight of the Night, and Best Knockout of the Night.’

“But I was asking Mike Tyson and he told me to give the Knockout of the Night to somebody else!” dos Santos continued. “He said, ‘Why give two bonuses to just one guy?’ So he took away from me $50,000. So he owes me $50,000!”

Tyson and the UFC brass, and most specifically White, have had a cordial relationship for years. Tyson has attended a series of UFC events, including dos Santos’ win over Hunt at UFC 160.

Dos Santos has had plenty of things to say about how the UFC treated him on his way out of the promotion, accusing them of forcing his hand with opponents and threatening to cut him if he didn’t accept bouts. These are claims that that UFC has fervently denied.

Dos Santos has remained in the public eye since leaving the UFC and was part of the commentary team for the recent Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort boxing match. Tyson has also returned to the boxing world, beginning with his recent return against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition.

What do you think about Junior dos Santos’ comments?

Mariya Agapova

Mariya Agapova is coming off of a dominant submission victory against Sabina Mazo last month in October. She finished her opponent via rear-naked choke in the third and final round at UFC Fight Night.

The Kazakhstani was actually the underdog against Sabina Mazo, but she went on to not only win, but she secured $50,000 in a performance of the night bonus.

The young star has a huge ceiling with already having her third fight in the UFC by 24 years old.

Unfortunately, a swirl of rumors has recently gone out about Agapova coming from former teammate Maryna Moroz.

Mariya Agapova recently explained that any rumors of drug addiction are completely false when speaking to James Lynch on All Access MMA.

“Yes I have my troubles and everything, but saying that I am [a] drug addict and that I have problems with drugs that’s totally a lie. Yes, I do have some medical doctor prescribed [drugs], but it’s my personal business and nobody else’s. Even if I do medical drugs, I do it for my health because the doctor prescribed me, and this is no one’s business… talking on interviews about my problems is very disgusting.”

A fight between Maryna Moroz and Mariya Agapova would be instant fireworks with bad blood behind the two. She does want to fight Maryna, but she explained that Moroz is currently undergoing visa issues.

Later on in the interview, Mariya went on to explain her ideal return date.

“I am going to slowly come back, and we will see who it will be. Forreal, I don’t care, I want to fight with someone strong. For now, I want to fight with strikers. I don’t want to fight with wrestlers and grapplers yet. Some good striker like Ariane Lipski Maybe… After when I get my groundwork better and I can call someone who knows jiu-jitsu and wrestling. Now I feel like I am not ready for a wrestling and jiu-jitsu opponent. My Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling are not high levels yet and I want to fight strikers… Beginning of next year I want to fight again.”

We will see what’s in store for Mariya in 2022. For now, we will have to wait for a fight announcement for the young fighter.

Darren Till

UFC middleweight contender Darren Till’s viral lookalike has teamed up with UFC fighter Molly McCann to call out the English MMA star.

It all started when MMA fans, and most notably MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, found a TikTok clip of a belligerent man in a Liverpool shop that looked and sounded a lot like Till. After the clip went viral, Till took the jokes in stride and had fun at his own expense.

Many wondered what happened to the man in the clip and if he and Till would ever connect on social media. In the latest chapter of their likeness, the man met McCann at her gym and jokingly took the time to call out Till for a fight.

Darren Till’s Viral Lookalike Has Called Him Out

Till is regarded as one of the biggest fan favorites in the UFC, especially in the U.K. His brash personality when promoting his fights combined with his comedy away from the cage has propelled him into a global star.

But Till hasn’t had a lot to laugh about in recent months. He’s lost two of his last three fights since moving up to middleweight following a title run at welterweight. Till lost his lone shot at UFC gold to Tyron Woodley at UFC 228.

Despite his recent struggles in the octagon, Till has one of the largest social media followings in the UFC, rivaled only by UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis. Till has accumulated 1.4 million followers on Instagram where he posts memes, edited photos of his fighting rivals, and much more.

Till recently lost to Derek Brunson and later revealed that he had suffered a torn ACL just days before the fight. He went on to also suffer a gruesome eye injury in the fight.

Till is hoping to return to the octagon soon. And, who knows? It could be against someone who looks and sounds just like him.

What are your thoughts on Darren Till and his latest shenanigans?

Yair Rodriguez Max Holloway

Yair Rodriguez is keeping an open mind heading into to his UFC Vegas 41 main event opposite Max Holloway.

Rodriguez will be facing the former featherweight champion in his first fight in about two years, following injuries, a suspension for a USADA whereabouts violation, and a rough run with COVID-19. He is not taking an easy fight in his return, either, facing Holloway who is coming off of a career-defining performance against Calvin Kattar, earlier this year.

This jump into the deep end is precisely what Rodriguez was looking for, as he explained on The MMA Hour. Here, the Mexican contender said that he was excited to test his growth over the last two years, and is ready for whatever outcome presents itself.

“We already know how to swim, so let’s swim in the deep waters. I like it. I’ve been putting myself in some situations… all that I can think of is just growth. Growth outside myself, my body, my mind, and I don’t really care about anything. I don’t care about winning this fight specifically, I just want to see what I’m capable of doing after this layoff of two years and after being training for so long. I’ve been training for this fight or any other fight for so long, and I want to see my improvements and how I improved in this time, what still needs to be improved. This is more than anything for myself, for my growth,” Rodriguez said.

“For me, it’s going to be great because he has all this experience that I will be able to absorb that night, and my career is just going to take (off). It doesn’t matter what happens, like I don’t care what happens. I’m just going to go out there and give my all as always, and that’s what you guys will see. A true f—king warrior, two f—king warriors getting to go out there and f—k each other up. That’s it.”

To be clear, just because Yair Rodriguez says that he does not care what happens does not mean he lacks the desire to win. He made it known that the only thing that matters is giving his best, and in doing so, he would be able to handle a loss.

“Of course, I’m going to win. I’m for the win. Nobody goes in there think they’re going to lose,” Rodriguez said. “What I mean is, I don’t care. If I lose I won’t take it hard on myself. I know he’s a tough opponent, and it’s a hard task. I put myself in a situation where I need to outperform him, and I like to put myself in that position.”

The fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez promises to deliver fireworks from start to finish. It will be interesting to see how the fight plays out and if “El Pantera” can get the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career.

Khabib Nurmagomedov

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former interim champ Tony Ferguson may never fight, but their trash talk lives on.

Nurmagomedov has remained in the public eye despite retiring last year following his win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He’s come to the defense of his protege, Islam Makhachev, and vouched for him to get a lightweight title shot next.

This has included back-and-forths on social media with Gaethje and others. But now, his old rival Ferguson has stepped to the plate to take a jab at Nurmagomedov.

After getting word of Ferguson’s tweet, Nurmagomedov didn’t respond in kind and alluded to Ferguson’s recent struggles in the octagon.

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson Were Supposed to Fight Multiple Times During Their Careers

“For the last three years Tony Ferguson [hasn’t] won a single round in the UFC,” Nurmagomedov said. “Some of the rounds you lost 10-8. Since 2015, you’ve [beat] only one fighter in the Top 15. Tony, it’s a clear picture here, I’m not gonna go low and personal, not gonna insult you. It’s just facts.”

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson’s beef has spanned years. They were supposed to fight on numerous occasions, but something always happened to get in the way. Whether it be injury or travel issues, something always stood in the way of UFC fans getting to see a dream matchup between Nurmagomedov and Ferguson.

Nurmagomedov went on to retire undefeated with defenses over Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and Conor McGregor. He’s widely regarded as one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time.

Ferguson is still awaiting an opponent for his return to the cage, as he looks to get back on track at lightweight. He’s lost three bouts in a row.

What are your thoughts on the latest saga in the Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson rivalry?
