Ladd

Aspen Ladd’s coach and boyfriend Jim West has apologized for his cornering last night.

Ladd suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Norma Dumont in their short-notice women’s featherweight headliner at UFC Vegas 40 on Saturday night.

However, it was a borefest with little to no action. So much so that the biggest talking point was during the corner talk when West questioned what Ladd was doing by not fighting.

While Ladd did step it up a bit in the fourth round, it wasn’t enough and when she went back to her corner again, it almost appeared as if she was about to cry when West laid it on her.

In the end, Ladd couldn’t turn it around as she was comfortably outpointed while West received plenty of criticism online for being too harsh on his fighter.

He has since apologized.

“Tonight was not our night,” West wrote in a statement on Instagram. “It’s been our night many many times at the highest level but not tonight. I blame myself. Though it may not be my fault. it’s not up for debate. I take all the blame.

“Yes after the first couple rounds I may have been a little harsh but I know aspen and at that time technical conversation was not in the cards being down 3 rounds. Nonetheless I own it and I am sorry @aspenladd from the bottom of my heart [sic] I will continue to be better each time.”

Ladd didn’t comment on the cornering but released her own statement.

“Not my night,” Ladd wrote on Instagram. “Congrats to my opponent. We will be back better. In the mean time I finally got to get back in there after nearly 2 years. Now it’s time to take a step back, take a breath, and get back to fighting and feeling like myself again. On to the next.”

UFC Vegas 40

UFC Vegas 40 was an underwhelming card on paper that never really caught fire. The main event saw Norma Dumont easily extend her UFC winning run to three over five rounds against Aspen Ladd. It was a rather dull affair and the most interesting aspect of the bout was the corner work of Ladd’s coach, Jim West, who has been called into question post-fight.

In the co-main event, Andrei Arlovski continued to prove age is just a number as he picked up another impressive win over a much younger fighter, this time Carlos Felipe was the man who came unstuck against the 42-year-old MMA legend.

Neither of those fights or performances stood out for the UFC bosses who decided to give the $50,000 bonus cheques to fighters further down the card.

Jim Miller

The UFC veteran set a new record when he entered the Octagon for his 38th appearance last night. Jim Miller survived an early flurry from his opponent Erick Gonzalez before coming on strong towards the end of round one. In round two, Miller picked up where he left off and scored a beautiful one-punch KO against his opponent who was making his UFC debut. This was Miller’s first KO victory since he stopped Takanori Gomi at UFC 200 in 2016.

Nate Landwehr

Nate Landwehr

The featherweight brawler struggled early against L’udovit Klein but began to catch up with his opponent in round two. Nate Landwehr had taken over by round three and managed to catch his man in a submission (anaconda choke). This was actually the first submission win of Landwehr’s 19-fight MMA career. His post-fight interview with Michael Bisping was almost as entertaining as the fight itself.

Bruno Silva

A night that looked to be going all wrong for Bruno Silva turned out great in the end. The Brazilian was out grappled for large parts of his fight with Andrew Sanchez but ultimately rallied in round three to score a TKO victory. Post-fight, Silva was awarded his BJJ black belt. To top off a brilliant day at the office Silva walks away with an extra $50K in Performance of the Night money.

Danaa Batgerel

Danaa Batgerel impressively made it three wins in a row at UFC Vegas 40. The Mongolian fighter put on a dominant display to stop Brandon Davis in the first round. It was truly a performance well worthy of picking up one of four post-fight bonuses.

deiveson figueiredo

After enlisting the help of former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo, former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo has promised to avenge Cejudo for opponent Brandon Moreno’s ‘betrayal”.

Figueiredo is set to face current flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno, for a third time on January 22nd at UFC 270. Their first meeting took place in December 2020 in what was a fight of the year contender which saw both fighters exchange heavy blows throughout the contest, in what ended as a draw. In their immediate rematch six months later, Moreno proved the bookies wrong, tapping Figueiredo in the third round to become the first Mexican-born UFC champion.

Deiveson Figueiredo Training With Henry Cejudo Ahead Of Brandon Moreno Trilogy Fight

For the trilogy match, Figueiredo announced via social media that he would be training alongside Cejudo, under coach Eric Albarracin. in an interview with The Schmo, Figueiredo via his translator had this to say about the move “I’m here in the triple C house, I’m going to train with triple C, I wanna be like him. I want to be the champion like him.

“This is my new family and you guys are going to see a new Deiveson Figueredo, this fights gonna be a war and I am very happy to be year in Arizona with my new family.”

Later in the interview, Figueredo had this to say about Moreno “I’m very motivated and he betrayed Henry Cejudo and he betrayed Henry Cejudo. Henry Cejudo let the cry baby, the assassin baby live two years in his house and after that cry baby Brandon Moreno get out and helped another guy fight against Cejudo. He betrayed Henry Cejudo and Henry Cejudo is really pissed off and now its going to be revenge.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

This stems from when Cejudo had brought in Moreno for training and according to Cejudo via Instagram “Me and Brandon used to be like main training partners. to the point where his family would come over to my house and stay for weeks.”

This was until The Ultimate Fighter season 24 where Cejudo was coaching opposite Joseph Benavidez before their 2016 bout. Moreno was a participate on the season and was picked my Benavidez, they ended up becoming friends and Moreno ended up staying after the season ha finished to train with Benavidez. Cejudo would end up losing against Benavidez via decision.

Do you think Deiveson Figueiredo will get his revenge at UFC 270?

Marvin Vettori Still Thinks He’s A Better Fighter Than Israel Adesanya

Marvin Vettori

Marvin Vettori still thinks he is better than the Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Vettori (17-5-1) has fought Adesanya (21-1) twice in his career and has lost both times to the current champion. The latest being for the belt at UFC 263. Adesanya beat him via split decision the first time in a bit of a close fight. The 2nd fight was less so competitive, seeing Adesanya beating him by unanimous decision. Adesanya didn’t lose a single round the entire fight in a flawless, but boring fight.

Vettori spoke to MMAJunkie and told them he believed he is still more skilled than ‘The Last Stylebender’. “He was very smart in there and he fought a very smart fight. With that being said, he wasn’t better. He wasn’t better at all in general. He wasn’t more skilled. He didn’t have more cardio. He didn’t have more anything, really. He was smart. He knew he was a champion. He didn’t really want to engage with me in a lot of things. Exchanges in general. One thing he was good at, he was able to play the crowd and kind of like almost be his own cornering in a sense. He had his own cornering, obviously, but he also had his like, he was his own corner. He was able to see the situation a little bit more from outside, from a third eye, almost…..But, you know, I really realized I can really beat this guy and I’m actually better than this guy.”

Vettori is still confident he can beat ‘Izzy’, but after his last showing, it may take more than just one win over Paulo Costa to put him back in the headlining match with Adesanya. As said before, Vettori faces off against Costa at UFC Fight Night 196. Both fighters’ last fight was against Adesanya for the title.

Do you think Marvin Vettori will get another shot to prove he is better than Israel Adesanya?

Mike Tyson was explaining that he could beat Jake Paul, but wouldn’t do it so he could have “his reign””.

Tyson said his family likes the Paul brother and that is the reason that he wouldn’t want to fight Paul. “So f*****g easy. Yeah, but I would never. I’d be against my own f*****g family.” Tyson said. “They love this little white motherf****r. You know what I mean? He got balls. He’s got f*****g balls. When you see a white boy with balls, you know. I’m talking about for real, but f**k you motherf****r… Yeah but nah man, let him have his f*****g reign.” (Sportskeeda)

Paul is coming off a win against Tyron Woodley via split decision in a fight that many people tuned in to watch. Woodley even got a Jake Paul tattoo so they could possibly run the fight back. Paul has two wins over former MMA fighters now after he has beaten ‘Funky’ Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

Tyson Fury’s Brother Next For ‘The Problem Child’?

Paul’s name has been linked to Tommy Fury, a real boxer. Tommy Fury is the younger brother of Tyson Fury, who is coincidentally named after the great Mike Tyson. Fury is a significant step up in competition for ‘The Problem Child’ and would solidify his future in the sport of boxing if he is able to win. Paul is a fantastic promoter as he gets many people to tune into his fights due to his ability to make people hate him.

Tyson had been retired for a long time before last year when he took on Roy Jones Jr. The bout was ruled a split draw by the judges, but Tyson clearly looked like the better fighter. Tyson is still in fantastic fight and would most likely send Paul into the shadow realm if the two squared off. Paul is fortunate that Tyson’s family likes him and he doesn’t want to take his head off.

How fast do you think Mike Tyson would beat Jake Paul in a boxing match?

Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor‘s recent trip to Rome has apparently descended into chaos as things often do when ‘Notorious’ is involved.

The former dual weight UFC champion appeared to be enjoying his visit to the Italian capital, videos of him interacting with fans and famous faces have been circulating for the last week.

On Saturday evening, things took a turn for the worse according to a famous singer/DJ who claims he will be suing McGregor for attacking him without provocation.

“Mr. McGregor broke my lip and nose, he attacked me for no reason,” Francesco Facchinetti said on his Instagram story while showing off his injuries. “I could be silent but someone like him who pulls a punch, think what could happen. It worked out for me. He is a violent and dangerous person. I decided to sue Conor McGregor, be very careful.”

Facchinetti’s wife also posted on her social media about the incident. Wilma Faissol explained that she thought the two men were play fighting before realizing blood was pouring from her husband and McGregor was being restrained by his security guards.

“The first thing I thought is a joke, they do it on purpose, it’s a mini-show, Faissol said.  But I was paralyzed because all of Conor’s bodyguards held him against the wall, he wanted to keep beating Francis. There was blood, the bodyguard gave us handkerchiefs and kicked us out. From the hotel they let us out the side door, as if everything was fine. I was crying, I was shaking, we called the police and ambulance. We made the complaint, he is an unstable person: he is dangerous. (Transcribed by Il Messaggero)

McGregor had been planning on a quiet holiday with his family. The Irishman traveled with his fiancé and three children. On Saturday, his new son, Ryan was baptized by Pope Francis himself. Now, the UFC superstar finds himself in a spot of bother once again.

Are you surprised to hear Conor McGrergor is involved in another incident?
