Ahead of his potential UFC lightweight title-eliminator against one-time vacant lightweight title challenger, Michael Chandler, the #1 ranked, Justin Gaethje has invited a future pairing with recently minted gold holder, Charles Oliveira, claiming that the Brazilian is a “quitter“”.

Set to return for the first time in 13-months, Arizona native, Gaethje saw his run of four straight knockout victories halted by the undefeated, Khabib Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi, UAE — suffering a second round triangle loss in a lightweight title unification loss.

Hoping to get back on the saddle at Madison Square Garden in November against former three-time Bellator lightweight, the aforenoted, Chandler, Gaethje has sights firmly set on another tilt at lightweight gold in the future, and has expressed his willingness to meet with Oliveira, or expected incoming title challenger, fellow former interim champion and past opponent, Dustin Poirier in a title re-run next year.

However, Gaethje recently insisted that he would “love” to challenge Oliveira for the title, claiming that the promotion’s most prolific submission artist is a “quitter“.

I’m in a great position, I don’t have to win eight in a row,” Justin Gaethje told former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and comedian, Jim Norton on UFC Unfiltered. “I’ve got to win one in a row. So if he wins (against Dustin Poirier), I would love to fight Charles Oliveira, because I will show you what I’m saying. He’s a quitter. He is a quitter. He showed it to you in the Michael Chandler fight.

At the end of the first round, he was not looking good, he didn’t want to be there,” Gaethje explained. “That’s just what I think, that’s my opinion. And (Dustin) Poirier is going to beat him up.

Whilst a pairing of Oliveira and Poirier has yet to be penned, the lightweight title bout is expected to land at UFC 269 in December, as part of a championship tripleheader, following the confirmation of a matchup between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena, and a trilogy bout between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo

Sean Strickland has let it be known exactly how much he dislikes Luke Rockhold.

The middleweight duo are due to square off at UFC 268 on November 6.

Ahead of the bout, Strickland has been speaking about his disdain for his opponent.

“Luke is a f*cking c*nt and he deserves to go to sleep permanently, but he’s a good fighter,” Strickland told The Schmo. “He was a champ for a reason. At the end of the day, he can say whatever he wants, but he was a champion… back when it was a little bit easier. He would never be a champion now.”

“He is a f*cking c*nt, but he’s a great fighter. He f*cking deserves to be there. I’m excited and I’m motivated.”

Strickland explained that his dislike for Rockhold comes from training with the former UFC middleweight champ during his short reign at the top of the 185lb division.

“I’m a pretty respectful guy, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt, he was a champion, and he was just a f*cking c*nt, dude. Every time this f*cking guy opens his mouth, he’s just an arrogant f*ck,” Strickland said.

“He’s the kind of dude that when he’s f*cking, he makes sure there’s a mirror, just so he can watch himself f*ck,” Strickland added. “Dude’s a piece of sh*t… Male model or not, that doesn’t mean you can be a f*cking c*nt. I know plenty of models that aren’t c*nts.” (Transcribed by Middle Easy)

Strickland has been in impressive form as of late. The 30-year-old has strung together four straight wins since making the move from welterweight to middleweight. Most recently, he picked up a lopsided decision victory over long-time 185lb contender, Uriah Hall.

Rockhold hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Jan Blachowicz in July 2019. The 36-year-old flirted with the idea of retirement before re-committing himself to MMA. Rockhold has lost three of his last four fights and is without a win since 2017.

Who do you think will win at UFC 268? Sean Strickland or Luke Rockhold?

Michael Bisping: Conor McGregor ‘Out Of His Mind’ On Pain Meds At VMAs

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping has commented on Conor McGregor’s recent scuffle with music star Machine Gun Kelly on the MTV VMAs red carpet at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

A couple of explanations for the scuffle have already been offered up. It was originally reported that the confrontation was triggered by MGK refusing to take a picture with McGregor. Later, it was suggested that the former dual-weight UFC champion had been slipping into the DMs of Kelly’s girlfriend, Megan Fox.

Bisping explained why he thinks McGregor and the music artist ended up in a confrontation, citing the possibility of McGregor being pain meds from his leg injury.

“I’ve been there,” Bisping said on his “Believe You Me” podcast. “I mean, I’ve not been there doing that at the MTV f*cking music awards. What I mean is that I’ve had surgery, and the medication that they give you, you lose your f*cking mind. I think a lot of that was (Sunday) because he was out of his mind, on the pain pills because that’s how it goes.

“They make you very f*cking antsy, very erratic, very angry. Me and Callum, Callum is the calmest kid ever. Callum was f*cking arguing with everything I was saying when he had surgery. They kind of make you like that. I don’t know. I’m not making excuses for him, but just from what I saw, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ve had that feeling before.’” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Bisping was recently on the receiving end of McGregor’s rage. The British MMA legend got into a social media spat with ‘Notorious’ who wasn’t afraid to hit below the belt during the online beef. Things between the two had quietened down as of late, it’s unclear if Bisping’s latest comments will restart the rivalry.

Do you think Michael Bisping could be right? Is Conor McGregor’s recent erratic behavior due to being dosed up on pain pills for his broken leg?

Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo are set to fight for the third time.

The flyweight champion will make the first defence of his title when he squares off against the man he dethroned at UFC 269 on December 11.

ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto announced news of the match-up on social media.

“The trilogy is on. Brandon Moreno will defend his title against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 269 on Dec. 11,” Okamoto wrote on Twitter. “UFC looked into booking Moreno vs. Alexandre Pantoja, but Pantoja won’t be ready before end of the year. Moreno wanted to be active and was willing to fight any challenger.”

Moreno and Figueiredo put on an exciting, Fight of the Year candidate when they first squared off at UFC 256 in December 2020. The pair threw down for five rounds at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas before the judges scored the fight a majority draw and Figueiredo retained his 125lb strap.

Naturally, a rematch was quickly booked, and Moreno got his second shot at UFC gold on June 12. ‘The Assassin Baby’ left no doubt the second time around as he dominated Figueiredo from the first bell before tapping him out in round three to become the first Mexican-born fighter to ever win a UFC belt.

How do you think the Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo trilogy fight will play out?

Tyron Woodley

It’s been a while since we saw Tyron Woodley in the UFC broadcast booth, but that will change this weekend at UFC Vegas 37 as the former welterweight champion will make his return to commentary and analysis of the fights.

Woodley is just weeks removed from his split-decision loss to YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul and at least for the moment doesn’t plan on returning to MMA any time soon. He’s hopeful for an immediate rematch with Paul, but contract negotiations haven’t materialized just yet.

For now, Woodley will turn his focus to commentary this weekend alongside retired UFC veteran Alan Jouban and veteran host Karyn Bryant. Michael Bisping will serve desk duty alongside play-by-play commentator Brandon Fitzgerald.

Despite losing his last four UFC fights, Woodley is considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists to ever compete in the promotion, with a welterweight title reign that began with a vicious knockout over Robbie Lawler. He most recently fought in the octagon at UFC 260, falling to Vicente Luque by first-round submission.

Woodley appeared mentally and physically in good shape for his boxing debut under the bright lights of Cleveland, OH. and has previously talked about his intentions to keep boxing in the future. It’s unclear exactly when Woodley will make his return to the ring.

Woodley signed with the UFC after the promotion merged with Strikeforce back in 2012. He quickly earned a reputation as a knockout artist with elite wrestling stemming from his time competing at the University of Missouri.

Woodley is known as one of the best analysts in the UFC broadcasting industry, despite not being involved in commentary for a while. He’s seen and done pretty much everything there is in the UFC and has a vast knowledge of the sport.

Along with his commentary duties, we may find out what Woodley’s plans are for the future during the broadcast, but that remains to be seen.

What are your thoughts on Tyron Woodley returning to commentary?

Leon Edwards Mocks Idea of Jorge Masvidal Fight, Waiting for Title Shot

Leon Edwards

UFC welterweight contender Leon Edwards apparently has zero interest in a potential No. 1 contender fight with Jorge Masvidal and is willing to play the waiting game for a rematch against Kamaru Usman for the welterweight belt.

Edwards is fresh off his largely impressive win over Nate Diaz at UFC 263 earlier this year, surviving a late barrage to secure a unanimous decision victory. It has been quite a battle back to fighting for Edwards, who fought to a no-contest against Belal Muhammad in his first fight in nearly two years back in March.

Edwards and Masvidal have had their fair share of history in the past, stemming from their post-fight brawl following UFC Fight Night 147 in London. Both fighters won their bouts and proceeded to engage in trash talk which escalated into an all-out melee backstage.

Despite the obvious fan interest that an Edwards vs. Masvidal fight would generate, Edwards isn’t very keen on the idea of that happening next for his fighting career.

“My next fight will be for the world title,” Edwards tweeted. “I don’t want to hear nothing about a guy coming off of a two-fight skid and got KO’d in his last fight.”

Edwards is obviously alluding to Masvidal’s back-to-back losses to Usman, most notably his knockout defeat to Usman at UFC 261. Masvidal hasn’t fought since but is anticipating and planning for a return to the octagon before year’s end, although nothing is currently in the works.

Edwards will likely have to wait quite a bit as Usman will fight Colby Covington in a title rematch at UFC 268. He’s also in the middle of a title hunt which includes the surging Vicente Luque along with former title challenger Gilbert Burns.

Edwards remains one of the top welterweight contenders and will assumingly get a title shot sooner rather than later.

Do you think Leon Edwards should get the next title shot?
