Kamaru Usman is no longer the pound-for-pound king in the official UFC rankings.

Having an abundance of the most elite mixed martial artists in the world, it is important for the UFC to maintain a list of the top 15 ranked athletes in each division. While some names on the rankings may get criticized justly, the list serves as a road map for fighters to get to the promotional gold.

UFC rankings shake-up: Alex Volkanovski bags pound-for-pound No.1 spot

Following his defeat to Leon Edwards this past Saturday at UFC 278, Usman got blasted off the top spot of the coveted pound-for-pound rankings. He also dropped down from being the welterweight champion to becoming the top contender. Edwards secured the championship along with a debuting number sixth spot on the pound-for-pound rankings.

Men’s Pound for Pound: After defeating Justin Gaethje in the UFC 274 main event, Oliveira is getting all the respect of a champion despite being stripped due to missing championship weight. Oliveira moves up to #4, one spot ahead of Francis Ngannou who now falls to #5.

In other changes, Aljamain Sterling now ties Jon Jones at #9 while Robert Whittaker (#14) passes up former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno (#15).

Women’s Pound for Pound: After losing the strawweight title to Carla Esparza in underwhelming fashion, Namajunas drops to #4, being passed up by bantamweight champion Julianna Peña (#3). Esparza’s title win bumps her up two spots to #6, causing Jéssica Andrade (#7) and Holly Holm (#8) to fall one position. Also, Mackenzie Dern (#12) and Irene Aldana (#13) swap places in the rankings.

Strawweight: With Carla Esparza back at the top of the strawweight throne, Rose Namajunas is now the #1 contender, with Zhang Weili dropping to #2. Yan Xiaonan now sits at #5. Additionally, Luana Pinheiro now appears in the rankings at #15. 

Women’s Flyweight: Following her 10th straight victory and extending her UFC record to 4-0 after defeating Melissa Gato at UFC 274, Tracy Cortez debuts in the rankings at #15.

Women’s Pound for Pound: Lauren Murphy (#13) and Mackenzie Dern (#14) swap positions.

Strawweight: Following Claudia Gadelha’s retirement, Tecia Torres (#7), Michelle Waterson (#8), Amanda Ribas (#9), Amanda Lemos (#10), and Virna Jandiroba (#11) each moved up. At the bottom of the rankings, Jessica Penne (#13) and Brianna Van Buren (#14) move up one position, and Luana Pinheiro (#15) debuts in the rankings.

Lightweight: Mateusz Gamrot debuts at #12 in the rankings following his TKO victory over Diego Ferreira at UFC Vegas 45. Because of the loss, Ferreira drops three spots down to #15.

Welterweight: Belal Muhammad is now ranked #5 after his dominant victory over Stephen Thompson at UFC Vegas 45. The loss drops Thompson two spots down to #7. Meanwhile, due to Muhammad’s ascension, Neil Magny (#8), Sean Brady (#9), and Michael Chiesa (#10) each fall back one position.

Middleweight: Kevin Holland (#14) and Chris Weidman swap places yet again. Though it should be noted that Holland has decided to make a move down to welterweight henceforth. 

Light Heavyweight: No Changes

Heavyweight: The rankings remain the same following Derrick Lewis’(#3) first-round KO of Chris Daukaus (#7) at UFC Vegas 45.
