Brendan Allen scored a big win and a little redemption in the UFC Vegas 90 headliner on Saturday night.

After coming up short against Chris Curtis nearly three years ago, ‘All In’ continued his surge up the middleweight rankings. He walked away with a closely contested split decision victory over ‘The Action Man’ in a clash many call a Fight of the Year contender.

Official Result: Brendan Allen def. Chris Curtis via split decision (47-48, 48-47, 49-46)

With the win, Allen has now won his last seven fights inside the Octagon and avenged his last loss under the UFC banner. As for Curtis, ‘The Action Man‘ alternated wins and losses in his last six outings, going 5-3 with 1 no contest in his UFC career.

Ignacio Bahamondes climbed back into the win column in spectacular fashion at UFC Vegas 89 on Saturday night.

Mixing up his striking, Bahamondes connected with a stellar spinning heel kick that appeared to have Giagos comprised in the early going of the opening round. He immediately followed that up with another spinning heel kick, this time to the body of Giagos. Already looking worse for wear, it was just a matter of time before Bahamondes connected with the knockout blow.

That moment came with nearly 90 seconds left in the round and Bahamondes uncorked a nasty head kick that connected clean and dropped Giagos against the fence. The referee immediately stepped in, calling for the stoppage.

Official Result: Ignacio Bahamondes def. Christos Giagos via KO (head kick) at 3:34 of Round 1.

Manon Fiorot kept her ‘O’ inside the Octagon intact with a decisive unanimous decision victory over rising contender Erin Blanchfield in the UFC Atlantic City headliner.

Fiorot found herself in a bit of trouble in the opening round as she went for an early takedown and ended up in a tight guillotine attempt. Despite Blanchfield’s best effort to squeeze out an early win, ‘The Beast’ was able to fight her way out of danger. From there, it was all Fiorot as her distance management stifled much of Blanchfield’s offense throughout the five-round affair.

Blanchfield attempted to pick up the pace in the fourth and even landed a big head kick in the fifth, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to secure a win over the No. 3 ranked contender.

Looking to finally break into the welterweight top 15, ‘New Mansa’ came out firing on all cylinders, looking to land a one-hitter-quitter on his Brazilian opposition. The striking exchanges were fairly even throughout the first five minutes, but Buckley began to pull away in the second with his signature power.

Looking to close the distance, Luque moved in, but instead of attempting to take Buckley to the mat, he pulled guard, dragging Buckley on top of him. Leaving his guard open, Luque could do nothing, but cover up as the St. Louis native unleashed an onslaught of strikes on the mat. The referee gave Luque every opportunity to improve his position. Failing to do so, the bout was stopped just past the halfway point of the round.
