Alex Perez shocks Matheus Nicolau with vicious Second-Round knockout - UFC Vegas 91 Highlights

Alex Perez stormed back into the win column with a highlight-reel-worthy knockout of Matheus Nicolau in the UFC Vegas 91 headliner on Saturday night.

After a relatively slow opening round that saw both fighters finding their range, things began to open up in the second stanza with the two top-10 contenders throwing hands.

Near the two-minute mark of the round, Perez landed a solid overhand right that knocked Nicolau off balance and put him on his bicycle. Moving in on his opponent, Perez unleashed a combination punctuated with a right hook that caught Nicolau clean and immediately rendered him unconscious.

Official Result: Alex Perez def. Matheus Nicolau via KO (right hook) at 2:16 of Round 2.

With the win, Perez snaps a three-fight losing skid and will likely return to the flyweight top five. For Nicolau, it is his second-straight knockout loss after being finished in the first round against Brandon Royval at a Fight Night event last April.

Serbian standout Uros Medic got back into the win column with a spectacular first-round finish against ‘The Dirty Bird’ at UFC Vegas 91.

Kicking off the afternoon’s main card festivities, Medic put away Tim Means just past the two-minute mark with a perfectly timed left uppercut as Means was moving in. With his opponent on the canvas, Medic dropped another nasty left, prompting Herb Dean to step in and call for the stoppage.

Official Result: Uros Medic def. Tim Means via TKO (left uppercut) at 2:09 of Round 1.

With the victory, Medic moved to 4-2 under the UFC banner and has now won three of his last four fights. Means fell to 15-13 inside the Octagon and has now lost four of his last five.

After coming up short against Chris Curtis nearly three years ago, ‘All In’ continued his surge up the middleweight rankings. He walked away with a closely contested split decision victory over ‘The Action Man’ in a clash many call a Fight of the Year contender.

With the win, Allen has now won his last seven fights inside the Octagon and avenged his last loss under the UFC banner. As for Curtis, ‘The Action Man‘ alternated wins and losses in his last six outings, going 5-3 with 1 no contest in his UFC career.

Mixing up his striking, Bahamondes connected with a stellar spinning heel kick that appeared to have Giagos comprised in the early going of the opening round. He immediately followed that up with another spinning heel kick, this time to the body of Giagos. Already looking worse for wear, it was just a matter of time before Bahamondes connected with the knockout blow.

That moment came with nearly 90 seconds left in the round and Bahamondes uncorked a nasty head kick that connected clean and dropped Giagos against the fence. The referee immediately stepped in, calling for the stoppage.

Blanchfield attempted to pick up the pace in the fourth and even landed a big head kick in the fifth, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to secure a win over the No. 3 ranked contender.
