LowKickMMA will be bringing you UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar results throughout tonight (Sat. 22nd June, 2020) from the UFC Apex, Las Vegas.

In the main event of the evening, Frankie Edgar will make his bantamweight debut as he faces the #5 ranked contender Pedro Munhoz. Edgar has planned to make the move in weight earlier this year, however, a short-notice fight at featherweight saw the opponent change from Corey Sandhagen to Munhoz. The pair were also booked to face off on Yas Island until Munhoz tested positive for Covid-19 and the bout was delayed once again. In the co-main event, Ovince Saint Preux will return to light-heavyweight to take on Alonzo Menifield after an unsuccessful heavyweight debut.

IT’S TIME! The UFC 252 main event is finally upon us. Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier face off for the third and final time with UFC gold on the line once again. Who will win? Let’s find out…

Round 1: A really tentative start to the fight from both men. After more than a minute of posturing Daniel Cormier shoots for a takedown and gets it, if only for a moment before Stipe Miocic pops back up. Cormier has his opponent up against the fence with heavy pressure. Eventually Miocic is able to break away and get back to the striking range. Miocic slips one of those vicious body punches he used so well in the last fight in. Cormier lands big up stairs catching his opponent coming in. Miocic eats an eye poke and we have a break in the action while he recovers. Thankfully he’s ok and we get back to fighting. Miocic seems fine he’s landing nice shots on a consistent basis now. Cormier fakes a shot before throwing big upstairs – beautiful. ‘DC’ closes out round one very strong landing more sneaky shots up top, Miocic takes it well though just before the horn sounds.

Round 2: Super competitive fight so far. Cormier is landing lot’s of volume and trying to catch Miocic with sneaky big shots to get the KO. Cormier even mixes it to the body giving Miocic some of his own medicine. Not long after and ‘DC’ is wobbled bad. Miocic is swarming and ends the round in mount. Cormier grabbed on to his opponent desperately to avoid taking to much punishment and giving referee Marc Goddard the chance to step in.

Round 3: Cormier still looks hurt at the start of round three. Miocic lands big but ‘DC’ is tough and fires back. The champ is picking the the pace on his opponent now. It’s a tough start to the round for Cormier who has now been pushed against the fence by Miocic. The fighters separate and go back to the striking range. Cormier lands a nice low kick. Stipe steams forward and lands two shots before again pushing ‘DC’ against the fence. There isn’t a lot going on against the fence. Miocic seems content to hold the position. Cormier is happy to utilize the recovery time. Back to the center again. ‘DC’ is pushing forward but isn’t throwing much. Towards the end of the round this fight explodes into action. Both men land big shots. Cormier is complaining about an eye poke as the round ends.

Round 4: Cormier says he can’t see after suffering an eye poke at the end of round three. He comes out and is still pushing forward. Stipe catches him with a right coming in. Cormier returns with a one-two straight down the pipe. The champ puts his challenger up against the fence once again. It doesn’t last long though. Miocic is landing his right hand at will – Cormier just cant see it coming. ‘DC’ lands a big overhand right. Miocic clinches up against the fence again. Both fighters swing big and miss on the exit. Cormier lands another huge right. Miocic just isn’t budging. He again pushes to the fence. ‘DC’ tries a trip and manages to escape the position. Not long before he’s back against the fence. Cormier lands two right hands at the end of round four. The horn sounds. We are heading to the fifth and final round.

Round 5: Cormier starts round five by landing a few nice pop shots to stop the forward pressure of Miocic. Stipe returns with bigger shot that seem to do damage. The fight is against the fence again. Miocic has really done well to control ‘DC’ in these positions. As soon as they get back in to striking range they throw big. ‘DC’ gets the better of it and tries to swarm but gets caught coming in by Miocic who stops the momentum . Miocic again gets the fight to the fence. He throws a combo on the exit. Miocic tries the takedown but Cormier easily shrugs it off. He lands another big right hand. Miocic has the fight against the fence again with 30 seconds left on the clock. They break and the horn immediately sounds to end this fight and an epic heavyweight trilogy.

Next up on the UFC 252 main card is a heavyweight collision between Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Round 1: Dos Santos lands a leg kick but is partially caught by a left hook by Rozenstruik. Rozenstruik lands a big leg kick. Dos Santos jabs to the body. Dos Santos sees a head kick blocked. Dos Santos goes for an overhand but is met with a counter right. Dos Santos goes swinging but doesn’t land significantly on Rozenstruik. He does land a big leg kick later. Rozenstruik continues to land counter leg kicks whenever Dos Santos lands strikes. Rozenstruik catches the leg of Dos Santos during a body kick and lands some big strikes but the Brazilian is fine. Dos Santos misses a spinning wheel kick. The fight is momentarily stopped after a groin shot on Dos Santos. It resumes only to end soon after.

Round 2: Rozenstruik advances more but doesn’t land anything effective on Dos Santos. He misses a head kick soon after. Dos Santos jabs to the body. Dos Santos lands a nice right hand but Rozenstruik seems unaffected. Dos Santos lands a check hook. Dos Santos lands a nice one two soon after. However, he gets backed up to the cage and Rozenstruik goes on a flurry. He drops Dos Santos with a right. JDS gets up but is dropped again as the fight comes to an end.

Official result: Jairzinho Rozenstruik defeats Junior dos Santos via TKO (R2, 3:47).

Next up on the UFC 252 main card is a featherweight bout between Herbert Burns and Daniel Pineda.

Round 1: Burns starts off with a kick. They are exchanging early. Pineda lands two big leg kicks. Burns misses a head kick. Burns goes for the takedown but Pineda gets up. Pineda lands a big elbow. Burns pulls guard but Pineda gets up and takes him down. He starts to land some strikes and moves to half guard. Pineda lands a big elbow and seems to be in control on top. Pineda starts to unload. He gets up and goes back into Burns’ guard and continues to land damage for the remainder of the round. Clear round for Pineda.

Round 2: Burns gets the takedown early on in the second round. He postures up and looks to land ground and pound. Pineda gets up but Burns has his back. Pineda lands elbows on Burns’ thigh but is still being controlled. Pineda does well to get up and attempt to reverse but Burns has his back again. Pineda reverses and is on top at half guard now with two minutes left in the round. Pineda transitions to a crucifix position and starts to land elbows and hammerfists. The referee sees enough and calls an end to the fight!

Official result: Daniel Pineda defeats Herbert Burns via TKO (R2,).

Kicking off the UFC 252 main card is a bantamweight contest between Merab Dvalishvili and John Dodson.

Round 1: Dvalishvili misses a spinning backfist to start things off. A lot of feinting early on as both fighters look to establish range. Dvalishvili misses an upkick. Dvalishvili goes for the takedown with three minutes remaining in the round. Dodson goes down but is on his feet with Dvalishvili controlling his back and landing knees to the back of his thighs. He continues to land knees as Dodson looks to remain on his feet and escape this position. Dodson finally gets free with just under a minute to go in the round. They strike for the remainder of the round but nothing significant. Dvalishvili wins the first.

Round 2: Dvalishvili lands a leg kick. He is jabbing a lot more as he advances. He grabs Dodson’s leg but Dodson remains on his feet. Dodson lands a big inside low kick. Dodson looks to land another leg kick but is countered by Dvalishvili who lifts him up and takes him down. Dodson gets up right away, however, so it doesn’t count as an official takedown. They return to striking. Dvalisvhili partially lands a spinning backfist and follows it up with a big right hand. He has Dodson clinched up against the fence as he looks for the takedown. Dodson is taken down again but gets up right away. Dodson lands another low kick on Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili feints a takedown and lands on Dodson. The round ends with Dvalishvili coming out strong.

Round 3: Both fighters embrace each other and yell as the final round begins. Dodson lands a hook to the body. Dvalishvili goes for an overhand right. Dvalishvili lands a straight right. He lands another one and shoots for a takedown. He gets another takedown but once again, Dodson gets up with ease. Dvalishvili lands a leg kick. Dodson lands a counter left hand which was arguably his best moment in the fight but Dvalishvili is fine. Dvalishvili lands a hard right. He is advancing more with aggression. He takes Dodson down against the fence but the latter gets up. They flurry to end the fight.

Official result: Merab Dvalishvili defeats John Dodson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

LowKickMMA will be bringing you UFC 252 results throughout tonight (Sat. 15 Aug, 2020) from the UFC Apex, Las Vegas.

In the main event, we will see the conclusion to the trilogy between two heavyweight greats Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. After Cormier claimed the title by knocking out Miocic in their initial bout, Miocic came back and defeated Cormier via TKO in the second. This conclusion looks to be Daniel Cormier’s final fight inside the cage. In the co-main event rising bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley will take on his toughest challenge yet as he faces Marlon “Chito” Vera a veteran who has won five of his last six fights all by stoppage.
