With the withdrawal of former UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch from this July’s upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 4 event, Aaraon ‘A-Train’ Simpson (11-3) was left without an opponent for the upcoming California event.

Now news comes from MMAWeekly.com that Illinois fighter, and one-time UFC fighter, Kenny Robertson (11-1) has been tagged as Fitch’s replacement for the television event.

UFC on FUEL TV 4 (aka UFC on FUEL TV: Munoz vs. Weidman) is expected to take place on July 11, 2012 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Robertson made one appearance with the UFC back in February 2011, suffering a second round TKO defeat at the hands of Mike Pierce. The loss ended a ten-fight win streak for Robertson and his short lived time with the UFC as the promotion cut him soon after the loss. Since that time, Robertson has fought just one time earning a first round knockout win in October of last year at a Fight Festival 31 event. He has finished opponents in ten of his eleven wins, earning seven submission and three (T)KO victories.

Simpson saw a three fight win streak end last February at UFC on FUEL TV 1 after a split decision loss to Ronny Markes at the Nebraska show. ‘A-Train’ had won three straight unanimous decision victories, all in 2011, deeating Eric Schafer, Brad Tavares, and Mario Miranda. Simpson currently holds a 6-3 record under the UFC banner.
