Michel Pereira

Michel Pereira is entering the final fight of his UFC contract on Saturday night when he battles Zelim Imadaev. It is a fight many fans are circling for the Fight of the Night.

Although the Brazilian is on a two-fight losing streak, dropping a decision to Tristan Connelly, and a DQ loss to Diego Sanchez, he isn’t worried about his UFC contract. Instead, he knows he has an exciting style that the UFC will renew his contract win or lose.

“This is the last fight of my contract, but I believe Dana White and Sean Shelby will renew my contract,” Pereira said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “I’m doing well in the company, even with the losses. Something happened in every loss I had in the UFC, but I showed the type of athlete I am. I showed who I am, my fighting style, and I believe that’s what they want for the UFC. I believe they will renew my contract.”

Michel Pereira is someone who knows it only takes one of his shots to land to end the fight. So, the Brazilian tells the fans to not blink.

“That’s what my bosses Dana White and Sean Shelby want to see, and I’m an employee,” “Demolidor” said. “If that’s what they want me to do, I’ll give them that. I’ve trained hard and gave my all in the gym to be able to get there and give everyone a show.”

“To me, a fight is a fight,” he continued. “Wins and losses are the consequence. Of course that I want to win, that’s not up for debate. But I don’t think only about myself. A fight is not only about myself. I think about my fans, my bosses. I think about everyone. I’m not there just to fight. That’s the right mindset, and that’s something fighters lack today. They just go out there and put on boring fights. They don’t fight for the fans, they don’t put on a show, so it’s boring.”

Abel Trujillo

Abel Trujillo, who competed in the UFC from 2012 to 2017, was sentenced to two years of probation Monday in a child exploitation case against him, according to 9News in Colorado.

Earlier this year the UFC veteran pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of promoting obscenity. Three other charges were dropped in the process.

Trujillo was arrested in the summer of 2019 when a 16-year-old girl alleged the UFC veteran sent pictures of his genitalia and videos of him masturbating on Instagram and Snapchat. The victim allegedly told Trujillo to stop multiple times and even blocked him. Yet, she reset her social media and Trujillo started to send pictures again and the 16-year-old girl decided to go to the police.

After the police traced the phone they got a search warrant for Abel Trujillo’s home. Once they got inside, Trujillo admitted to “multiple conversations with females under the age of 18.” He also said he has requested nudes from the alleged victim, as well as sending her explicit photos.

Abdel Trujillo last fought back in December of 2017 where he suffered a decision loss to John Makdessi after being submitted by James Vick in the fight before. On a two-fight losing streak Trujillo was released by the UFC. In his UFC tenure, he went 6-4 and one no-contest and even shared the Octagon with Khabib Nuarmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.

Anthony Smith

Anthony Smith is having a hard time after his UFC Vegas 8 main event loss to Aleksandar Rakic.

Smith was returning to the Octagon just three months after his beatdown loss to Glover Teixeira in May. “Lionheart” entered the fight as a sizeable underdog and early on got dropped due to leg kicks. Rakic was beating his leg up and for the rest of the fight the Austrian dominated it with ground and pound.

Now, just days after his loss, Smith went on MMA on SiriusXM and opened up saying he is not doing well physically or mentally.

“It’s not good,” he said when asked about the state of his leg, which took a significant amount of punishment in the fight (via BJPENN.com). “It’s not good at all. I’m still on crutches, so there’s that.

“If I’m being really honest with you guys, I’m not doing well,” Smith added, opening up on his mental state. “I’m super disappointed. I couldn’t get out of bed on Sunday. They had to send people from the [UFC Performance Institute] to my hotel room and drug me up and put a bunch of anti-inflammatory creams and big compression ice machines [on me]. It was like I had a whole f**king team in my room.

“It’s a little bit better today,” Smith continued. “There’s an occult fracture on my fibula head, so that’s cool. It sounds bad, but it’s not a huge deal actually. In four to six weeks it will be fine.”

For Anthony Smith, he said the leg kicks made it impossible for him to fight how he wanted to. He could barely stand on it so he couldn’t generate any power striking. So, he had to keep the fight on the ground and see if he could pull out a submission.

Not only is the defeat disappointing, but Smith is surprised his leg gave out after just three leg kicks from Rakic.

“Had I not had the leg damage, I would have changed my gameplan and just said ‘alright, we’re just going to stand in this boxing range and we’re just going to go to town here,’” he said. “And I’m confident I’d have been fine. But I couldn’t take one more leg kick. I didn’t have the ability to change my game plan to just strike with him and just box, because the one time he steps back into kicking range, and I don’t have enough time to close that distance, I’m down, and I’m not getting back up.

“That’s the thing. He kicked me three times. That is nuts. Hector Lombard kicked me 32 times in that fight. No issues. Three kicks from Aleksandar Rakic and I’m on crutches.”

Where Anthony Smith goes from here is uncertain. There is no question this is a disappointing loss for him.
