Fighting a replacement opponent on a few days notice is a tall order for any fighter. It probably doesn’t help matters when the replacement is the polar opposite, both physically and stylistically, of the opponent originally scheduled.
That’s the situation former Strikeforce light heavyweight Gegard Mousasi faced at UFC on FUEL 9, and although Mousasi dominated Swedish wrestler Ilir Latifi despite fighting with a potentially serious knee injury, the lukewarm performance left many observers unmoved, as evidenced by today’s sparse Pros React.
Gotta respect that effort on a weeks notice.
