Top-10 welterweights Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann will settle their score in the main event of the UFC’s second show on FOX Sports 1.
FOXSports.com first reported the booking, which takes place August 28, 2013 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.
Condit and Kampmann initially met in 2009 as the lead attraction of UFC Fight Night 18. The match-up served as Condit’s debut to UFC after a successful reign as the WEC welterweight champion, however Kampmann ultimately took the judges’ nod via a contentious split decision.
Condit (28-7) rebounded to rack up five straight victories, culminating in a polarizing win over Nick Diaz to become the UFC interim welterweight champion, before losing consecutive decisions the Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks, both of which garnered ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
Kampmann (20-6), meanwhile, has fought to largely mixed results, compiling a 5-4 record highlighted by thrilling comeback victories over Thiago Alves and Jake Ellenberger to push his name into title contention. The 31-year-old fell back to earth last November, however, crumbling to a 46-second knockout at the hands of Hendricks at UFC 154.
