Diaz (26-9, 1 no contest), the former Strikeforce welterweight champion, retired in the cage after his loss to St-Pierre.

Few took it seriously, given that Diaz, who turns 30 in a few weeks, also said he was retiring the prior time he lost to Carlos Condit. And the same night he retired, at the post-fight press conference, he was campaigning for a rematch with St-Pierre.

“He contacted me and said all the hotel rooms were booked up and could we get him a hotel (for this weekend),” said White. “So we did and guess what?” Yes, Diaz never arrived.
