Ronda Rousey fires back at critics of retirement remarks

Earlier this week UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey surprised many within the MMA community, revealing that despite her undefeated résumé, she is already mulling an exit strategy into retirement two years from now.

Following in the footsteps of Gina Carano, Rousey (7-0) is slated to begin filming big-budget Hollywood films The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7 back-to-back this fall, prior to her UFC 168 showdown with Miesha Tate.

On Thursday, Rousey admitted to MMA Junkie that acting has a “much longer shelf life” than fighting for a living, and that her back-and-forth battle with Liz Carmouche opened Rousey’s eyes to her eventual mortality as a mixed martial artist.

However Rousey’s two-year plan led to some pushback from the community, so Rousey took to Twitter early Saturday morning, posting an extended rant in response to her critics.
