Swedish UFC lightweight Reza Madadi was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on Friday for his role in a May 24 aggravated burglary of luxury handbag store Bottega Veneta in Stockholm, Sweden. MMAnytt.se first reported the news.
Madadi spent the past two months in jail awaiting the verdict.
According to surveillance footage and legal documents, three masked men driving a black Audi parked outside Bottega Veneta at approximately 5:01 a.m. on May 24, broke the glass on the front door with a sledgehammer and entered the store. The trio piled numerous stolen handbags inside the vehicle then proceeded to drive away at 5:05 a.m.

Police later tracked the vehicle to a nearby garage in Akersberga, where Madadi was eventually arrested at 6:21 a.m. Broken glass matching the glass at the scene of the crime was discovered on Madadi’s person.
Madadi has until September 6, 2013 to appeal the verdict.
A popular figure in his native Sweden, Madadi compiled a 2-1 record in the UFC lightweight division, most recently defeating Michael Johnson via third-round d’arce choke in a performance that earned the 35-year-old ‘Submission of the Night’ honors.
