UFC lightweights Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard will fight for a third time, the organization announced on Twitter Sunday. The pair will meet at the finale for ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ (TUF) 18 on November 30 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The two first fight in what is technically an exhibition bout on the set of TUF 5 as cast members in 2007. Diaz eventually submitted Maynard with a guillotine choke in the second round of their bout.
Diaz and Maynard fought a rematch as the headliner for UFC Fight Night 20 in Fairfax, Virginia in 2010. In a largely lackluster affair, Maynard earned a split decision victory to even the score.
The Stockton-native enters the bout on a two-fight losing streak, having most recently been stopped by strikes by former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson in the second round of their fight at UFC on FOX 7 in April. He is 16-9 in professional MMA.
Maynard is also looking to get back on the winning track after being finished via TKO in the first round of UFC 160 in May by TJ Grant. Maynard is 11-2-1 with 1 no-contest in his professional fighting career.
