World Series of Fighting continues to grow and in 2014 the year-old promotion will reach its largest audience yet.
WSOF is set to air two events on NBC, the promotion’s executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed with MMAFighting.com. WSOF president Ray Sefo first informed The Huffington Post of the news Friday morning.
Abdel-Aziz said the current plan is for WSOF to air its first event on NBC in early summer. He added that they plan on running 8-10 shows in 2014, with the rest airing on NBCSN. This would mark the first time NBC airs live MMA fighting on it’s mothership network, and WSOF would be the fourth promotion to land on network television, following EliteXC on CBS, Strikeforce on CBS and the UFC on FOX.
The organization’s next event, WSOF 7, headlined by Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Lance Palmer for the promotion’s inaugural featherweight title, airs live from Vancouver, B.C. Saturday night on NBCSN.
