Stephan Bonnar is returning to MMA commentary.
The UFC Hall of Famer has been hired as a color analyst for Titan Fighting Championship and will call the promotion’s upcoming show, Titan FC 27, Feb. 28 on CBS Sports Network, Titan FC president and CEO Jeff Aronson informed MMAFighting.com on Friday. Bonnar will work alongside Tristar Gym coach Firas Zahabi. A play-by-play man has yet to be finalized.
Bonnar, who signed an eight-fight TV deal with Titan FC, has worked as a color analyst for the now-defunct World Extreme Cagefighting and also worked as a studio analyst for ESPN, Fox Sports and Versus. He hasn’t been seen on TV in either capacity since his UFC 153 loss to Anderson Silva, which ended up being his retirement fight. His most famous call was his reaction to Anthony Pettis’ “Showtime Kick” in 2010.
The 36-year-old Bonnar left the sport with a 15-8 record and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in July.
Titan FC 27 will mark the commentary debut of Zahabi.
Titan FC 27, headlined by Mike Ricci vs. Jorge Gurgel, takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS. While the main card airs on CBS Sports Network at 11:30 pm ET, the undercard will air on CBSSports.com.
In other Titan FC news, Aronson informed MMAFighting.com that former UFC light heavyweight Vinny Magalhaes and Jason Brilz have agreed to fight on April 11 or 18 at Titan FC 28. That event will also feature the promotional debuts of at least three other ex-UFC fighters, George Sotiropoulos, Dave Herman and Jeff Curran.
