This is the UFC Fight Night 36 live blog for Viscardi Andrade vs. Nicholas Musoke, a welterweight bout at Saturday night’s UFC event at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.
Andrade, who has won seven straight fights, will face Musoke, who won his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 30 this past October, on the main card.

Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is Keith Peterson. Both fighters open orthodox. Musoke takes center and while both exchange, it’s an Andrade takedown that plants Musoke against the fence. Andrade lands a series of hard punches as Musoke tries to strand, but the Swede succeeds. Andrade wings a monster overhand right and bombs on the Swede and celebrates as if the fight was over, but it’s not. Musoke working actively from guard, but Andrade is defending well. Musoke secures the underhook and stands and amazingly goes back to stalking. Musoke counters a leaping left hook with a right knee to the chin.

Round 2: Musoke blocks an overhand right and secures double underhooks against the cage. He gets behind Andrade and tries desperately to take him to the mat. Musoke keeping the pressure on and lands a left high kick and right hand. He’s now pressing the Brazilian against the fence and uses it to secure a double leg takedown. Musoke postures up and lands two hard right hands. Musoke briefly moves to the leg drag position before going back to full guard, but he’s still landing consistently on Andrade.

Round 3: Musoke presses Andrade against the fence, but they quickly separate. Musoke tries it again, but can’t quite get it, although he’s now behind Andrade. Now Musoke drags him to the mat and takes his back. Musoke locks up the body triangle, but can’t seem to fight out of it. That’s where the round ends.
