WSOF 9 fight card finalized with addition of six bouts, including Chris Gruetzemacher vs. John Gunderson

WSOF officials announced six new preliminary card bouts this week to finalize the 11-fight card of WSOF 9, including a featherweight showcase which pits Chris Gruetzemacher (11-1) against UFC veteran John Gunderson (34-15).

Also announced for the event are bantamweights Sean Cantor (1-0) vs. Bryson Hansen (6-1), welterweights Phil Dace (9-4) vs. Danny Davis (8-8-1), bantamweights Jimmy Jones (4-2) vs. Rudy Morales (2-0), lightweights Gil Guardado (2-0) vs. Jimmy Spicuzza (2-0) and debuting lightweights Tanner Cowan (0-0) vs. A.J. Williams (0-0).

WSOF 9 is expected to take place March 29, 2014 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The card is headlined by two title fights, as welterweight champion Steve Carl looks to make the first defense of his belt against feared leglock specialist and former UFC contender Rousimar Palhares, while rising star Marlon Moraes takes on Josh Rettinghouse for the inaugural World Series of Fighting bantamweight title.

A prospect out of Arizona’s MMA Lab, Gruetzemacher, 27, rides a 10-fight win streak into his WSOF debut. He last fought in June 2012, defeating former UFC fighter Roli Delgado via third-round TKO.

Gruetzemacher now looks to repeat the favor against Gunderson, 35, a veteran with over a decade of experience who dropped a unanimous decision to Dan Lauzon in his WSOF debut last June.
