After a lackluster first two rounds, Miesha Tate went for broke in the final round of her UFC on FOX 11 fight with Liz Carmouche.

Tate poured it on, looking for the finish, in a furious final five minutes. She succeeded in getting Carmouche into a rear-naked choke that would have made most opponents tap.

Carmouche didn’t tap, and went the distance. But the effort was enough to seal the fight. The former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ got back into the win column with a unanimous decision on Orlando, taking across-the-board, 30-27 scores.

Carmouche (9-5) came out strong in the first round, winning the positional battles and taking Tate down at will, although she didn’t do much with her advantage once she got there.

Round two was quite similar to round two, with the exception that Tate briefly got Carmouche into a guillotine choke. Carmouche effortlessly broke that one, got back into control, and scored another takedown before the round ended, but the judges apparently heavily weighted the submission attempt.

Tate dominated round three to the point it was a bit of a surprise that no judge gave her a 10-8 score.

With the victory, Tate snapped a two-fight losing streak, shaking off losses to Cat Zingano and Ronda Rousey. Carmouche lost her second in a row and is now 1-3 in the UFC.
