Viscardi Andrade will face another Swedish fighter inside the Octagon.
Andrade, a heavy-hitting jiu-jitsu expert, will welcome undefeated Andreas Stahl to the cage at the UFC on FOX 12 card in San Jose, Calif., on July 26, according to the UFC on Thursday.
Stahl (9-0), who was forced out of his UFC debut at UFN 33 bout against Alex Garcia with an injury, hasn’t competed since a first-round knockout victory over Veselin Dimitrov in Hovedstaden, Denmark, in September. The welterweight prospect finished four of his nine previous opponents, including three knockouts.
Andrade (17-6) last competed in a welterweight bout against Swedish Nico Musoke at UFN 36. Fighting in Brazil, Andrade rocked Musoke in the first round, but he decided to celebrate instead of going for the finish. Musoke came back and dominated the last couple rounds to win by decision.
“I was knocking people down in sparring, so I never kept punching after they went down. It was automatic,” Andrade told MMAFighting.com. “When he went down, I just stopped. He hit the ground and woke up. The referee said to keep fighting and I ran, but after I missed the first shot he recovered and came back.
“He pretty much dominated me after that and I couldn’t do anything. I learned a lot with it, and I won’t make this mistake again.”
To prepare for his next UFC fight, Andrade will move his camp to Black House in Los Angeles, Calif.
“I’m going there to learn,” he said. “I want to train with Kenny Johnson and Rafael Cordeiro. I want to train with the best. I feel I’ve evolved a lot my striking game, but I want to be a well-rounded fighter. I met them at TUF Brazil 2 and they invited me to train there, so I think it’s going to be a great experience.”
