Andreas Stahl has a new opponent for his UFC debut.
Stahl, who was scheduled to face Viscardi Andrade at the UFC on FOX 12 card in San Jose, California, on July 26, takes on fellow UFC newcomer Gilbert Burns, sources told MMAFighting.com. Tatame first reported the news.
Andrade suffered an injury training at Black House, breaking his right tibia and fibula when two training partners fell over his leg. The Brazilian fighter was taken to the Huntington Beach Hospital and will undergo surgery Thursday.
Stahl enters the UFC riding a nine-fight win streak with our stoppage victories. Unbeaten in MMA, the Swedish welterweight trains with fellow UFC fighters Nico Musoke and Magnus Cedenblad at the Allstars Training Center.
Burns, the jiu-jitsu coach of UFC star Vitor Belfort at the Blackzilians team, signed with the UFC after racking up a perfect 7-0 record with seven first-round finishes. A jiu-jitsu world champion, “Durinho” made his transition to MMA in 2012.
Another fight added to the UFC on FOX 12 card is Tiago dos Santos vs. Akbarh Arreola, according to a report from Combate. Jungle Fight lightweight champion, dos Santos (18-4-2, 1 no-contest) makes his Octagon debut riding a nine-fight win streak, while Arreola (22-7-1) looks for his fourth straight victory.
UFC on FOX 12 also features Anthony Johnson vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Josh Thomson vs. Michael Johnson, Clay Guida vs. Dennis Bermudez and Steven Siler vs. Noad Lahat.
