LAS VEGAS — UFC president Dana White isn’t giving away many of the details of the beef-squashing conversation he recently had with former star Ken Shamrock.
But he’s glad the long dispute is in the past.
White indicated the he called the UFC’s first Superfight champion, the forerunner of the current UFC heavyweight title, and hashed things out over the course of 40 minutes.
And while things were hot at first — their issues go back for years and involved litigation — they were worked out in the end.
“It started off a little heated, we both have different opinions on the way things went down,” White told reporters Thursday at the MGM Grand. “But at the end of the day, he wanted to end it, and I’m fine with that. I’m not as hard to deal with as everybody thinks I am.”
However, while White took the time to pick up the phone and call Ken Shamrock, don’t expect him to reach out and mend fences any time soon with Shamrock’s adopted brother, Frank, who was the first holder of what is now the UFC’s light heavyweight belt.
“I can’t ever see that happening,” White said. “At the end of the day, Frank Shamrock and I never really had a relationship, whereas Ken and I did. Frank and I never had a relationship. He’s too far off the reservation.”
