Ildemar Alcantara has a new opponent for UFC 175.
Santiago Ponzinibbio, forced out of the card with a knee injury, will be replaced by Kenny Robertson, who now meets “Marajo” on July 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. MMAFighting.com confirmed the bout with sources close to the situation, following an initial report from Combate.
Bouncing between wins and losses since his UFC debut in 2011, Robertson (13-3) enters the Octagon following a first-round submission victory over Thiago Perpetuo in Brazil. Robertson was initially scheduled to meet Zak Cummings on July 16, but Cummings was moved to UFN 46 card in Dublin to face Gunnar Nelson.
Former Jungle fight middleweight champion Alcantara (20-6) scored a second-round submission win against light heavyweight Wagner Prado in his UFC debut in 2013. He went 2-1 since cutting down to 170 pounds, most recently defeating Albert Tumenov via split decision at UFC Fight Night 36 in Brazil.
UFC 175 takes place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nev. and is headlined by a pair of title fights. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman faces Lyoto Machida in the main event, while bantamweight kingpin Ronda Rousey puts her title on the line against Alexis Davis.
