Holly Holm signs with UFC

Despite a brief impasse between the parties that seemed to temporarily derail negotiations, undefeated MMA fighter and three-division champion boxer Holly Holm is officially a UFC fighter. UFC President Dana White announced the news on Twitter on Thursday:

Holm, 32, via her representatives, met with White and UFC management in March, but came to a point where White told UFC Tonight’s anchors on Fox Sports 1 that his organization had no interest ‘whatsoever‘ in Holm. Since that episode, however, talks between the two sides have been ongoing and as evidenced by Thursday’s announcement, an agreement had been reached.

Holm holds a professional boxing record of 33-2-3. She last competed in that sport in May of 2013 where she defeated Mary McGee via unanimous decision. Holm also holds a record of 2-1 in professional kickboxing, but hasn’t competed professionally in that sport since 2003.

The Greg JacksonMike Winkeljohn product is undefeated in mixed martial arts with a record of 7-0. She most recently defeated Juliana Werner via head kick and subsequent punches at Legacy 30 in April of this year. Holm broke her arm in the fight. No official timeline has been given for her return to active competition, although signing with the UFC likely indicates that return is imminent.
