Bobby Green vs. Jorge Masvidal set for UFC 178

Just a few days removed from their successful weekend campaigns, Bobby Green and Jorge Masvidal are already eyeing quick turnarounds. The two victorious lightweights have agreed to square off in a battle of Strikeforce veterans on September 27 at UFC 178, promotion officials announced early Tuesday.

Green (23-5) scored the biggest win of his career on Saturday night at UFC on FOX 12, earning the judges’ nod over Josh Thomson on just nine day’s notice to propel his name into the top-10 of the UFC lightweight division. The 27-year-old’s dramatic upset extended his current winning streak to eight straight, a run which includes a perfect 4-0 mark in UFC competition.

Masvidal (27-8), meanwhile, survived an early knockdown to seize a unanimous decision over Daron Cruickshank at the San Jose event. “Gamebred” is now 5-1 over his last six contests, including back-to-back wins over Cruickshank and Pat Healy.
