Mein, 47, who is in Tulsa to corner his son, was arrested just prior to the UFN 49 weigh-ins on Friday. According to the police report, he was released early Saturday morning on a $2,000 surety bond. Mein is expected to appear in court on Aug. 29. The news was first reported by Beau Taylor of the Tulsa Voice.
We were made aware that James Lee Mein, father of UFC competitor Jordan Mein, was arrested yesterday on allegations of felony sexual assault. Mr. Mein is accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at the UFC’s host hotel in Tulsa, Okla.
The UFC finds the allegations against Mr. Mein deplorable and we fully support local law enforcement in its investigation. The UFC is also prohibiting Mr. Mein from attending tonight’s event should he post bail.
Jordan Mein will remain on tonight’s card.
No further details have been released about Mein’s arrest, and he did not return MMAFighting.com’s request for comment.
Lee Mein is still an active MMA fighter with a 6-13 record. The native of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, who also owns the Canadian Martial Arts Centre, most recently lost to Tim Hague via first-round TKO at WSOF Canada in February.
